  1. Past hour
  2. That’s cool. Looks like a very nifty piece of kit.
  3. Should be good. It’s bank holiday Monday next week btw. Drop me a PM.
  4. I was spoilt in my previous bands as they often featured the same, awesome drummer, who has been in bands since the ‘60s. Everyone else is compared to him and is normally found to be lacking. When I first started playing bass as my primary instrument, I was often struck by my inability to lock in with the drummer and assumed it was me, as I was a bass newb. The drummer in the band I was in couldn’t make a gig and so I asked my old drummer (the guy mentioned previously) from my guitar playing days to dep. From the first beat, there was that lock I had been looking for and I haven’t worried about my ability in that dept since, it either works or it doesn’t, but it’s so satisfying when it does. The difference between a good band and a great band is often a good drummer and good harmonies.
  5. They didn't because Ian Klos hates the Fender headstock. He did ask me about headstock shape and I suggested something like a status or ibanez. Which is kind of the way they went instead of the square thing on their full instruments which is a bit grim. I was one of the first people to order a neck. I put it on a Warmoth G4 body. It's great. Here's me messing around with it. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DI4jCnQCDyb/?igsh=ZzgwNW5reDlzNXl5
  6. I was just thinking "I wonder if you could make an inflatable double bass?", and then realised what a completely stupid idea this is on just about every level. Which of course means it exists:
  7. I had one, it was absolutely awesome. Great basses.
  8. 5 string set of 3/8" Hipshot Licensed Ultralite tuners in shiny Chrome, all in great condition 4+1 configuration for a right handed bass. Have been in my parts drawer for a while and i've not got around to using them. Can provide more photos if required. Not sure what postage would be until packed ready to go, but I'm sure we can work something out.
  9. So is it a good one?
  10. Warwick Thumb 5 BO (2009 Germany) Natural oil, MEC active J/J, fretted wenge board, ovangkol body & neck. Warwick bridge and tuners. Weight 4100grams. Comes with hard case and candy. Sounds like two fat jazz basses!
  11. Hmm... that's a good idea...I would like to give it listen..Thanks, I've got a busy weekend coming up but could get to Bath perhaps early next week.. Would the Monday or Tuesday suit?
  12. Truly beautiful Pete (the bass, not you!).😘
  13. Now sold thanks
  14. I’m often blown away by the various expertise of BC members on certain subjects, but @Bill Fitzmaurice is another level. Amazing knowledge.
  15. I've made quite a few basses over the years, mainly fretless and I use them all the time for live and recording work. This build was to see how a 33" scale bass would work out over my usual 34" scale basses. The smaller body and scale length is very nice to play, maybe good for someone wanting a fretless now and then in the set. Selling because....I'm still into my old and newer 34" scale basses so before scavenging parts off this one for a new build, I feel I'd rather sell it on. The specs will show its got all top parts and woods...I think all this wood and parts would cost about £600 before making them into a bass. You are welcome to try the bass of course...tea available! Weight...approx 7lb 6oz 12" widest body section. One Piece European 'Rippled' Ash. Three piece Rock Maple flamed. Macassar Ebony fingerboard. Delano passive Jazz Pickups.Gotoh GB7 Tuners. Bone Nut. Metal Dome knobs.....Volume/Balance/'Tone'. Hipshot Bridge. Barrel Jack output (probably Switchcraft). 3mm Black side dots. Large Strap buttons. D'Addario Nickel strings 100/80/65/45 Maple wood back and neck pocket "inserts (see picture...just an idea I had!). NZ Paua (abalone type) inlay on body rear and truss rod insert.
  16. Lowther, and many Fostex models as well, are primarily aimed at audiophools who are convinced of the need for single driver hi-fi cabs. To extend the highs they use small very light cones. That also gives low Qes/Qts for high sensitivity, but with weak lows. To get the lows up to a useful level they put them into rear loaded folded horns. The high sensitivity is useful with very low power valve amps, over which audiophools also wax poetic. But these are the same blokes who'll pay 100 quid or more a meter for cables. They're easily bested with two or three way ported speakers and modern amplification.
  17. Got one of those basses and out the box they are fantastic especially for the price. I didn`t have to adjust anything, it was spot on and the neck is super comfy. I would say it`s the same sort of size as a Fender Player P but for almost half the price!
  18. Du Hast - Rammstein
  19. I had no idea these existed. I have often fancied the control that digital offers but in a 4 channel package. Well, here it is. I was worried that it did not have parametric eq. It does. They also make a cute mic stand adapter. So I shall buy one. BC, always finding me new ways to spend money.
  20. Let me have a look at international shipping! I’ve never posted a bass outside of the country… and since the event that must not he named, I understand it may be more difficult. If you have done so before, please do PM me again and we can discuss!
  21. Europa Geht Durch Mich - Manic Street Preachers
  22. Bugger all I suspect. The others have a good run and if you plugged and redrilled the E then it wouldn't line up with the rest.
  23. Today
  24. I don’t know sorry, never heard the Elf. Might be some on here that have compared. You're welcome to pop over and have a listen 😎
