If I wasn’t sold before 😂 I sure as hell am now

Yeah all my gigs the backline goes via FOH so ampless an easy option. If I were in a covers band doing pubs I’d go with my Fender Rumble 800 combo.

I have tried numerous things and eventually bit the bullet and got one of these. https://www.thomann.co.uk/flyht_pro_wp_safe_box_7_ip65.htm It's bigger, but on wheels. A bit of an outlay but has proved worth it.

No matter how many times @joel406 makes this tedious argument, I'm sticking with an amp and cab because I'm not lugging round a sub or larger PA speakers to be able to put the bass through, and I'm not going to arse around setting up ambient mics and potentially micing up the drumkit. And we play in smallish pubs, and I've got earplugs.

Cool stuff 👍 Needs a new cavity sticker though - Today is 30 April (although it feels more like 30 Jul)

My 5th LHZ Glowup The DarkGlass Tone Capsule is out. LHZ-03 #739 is in. It sounds like it should now. And it sounds subtly different to the others. In fact my four 4s all sound a bit different from each other, which must point towards wood differences. They've all got newish D'Addario EXL170s. This one, Peacock, has an ebony board. I also treated her to some Schaller strap pins. The new strap pins used on newer Euros are rubbish. Photos are: 1. Before opening. 2. The DG 3. The LHZ 4. A happy patient recovering well from the op.

series/split/parallel but with a DPDT on/on switch and a pot...?
itu replied to Danage's topic in Repairs and Technical
Corrected. No, I love similar projects, too. Something you could put some effort to, is the blending of the pickups. Most straightforward option is to use the Noll Mixpot. With it mixing does not load pickups, and for me the result sounds far better than with any hi-Z blend. -
Couldn't agree more. I'm not big on mods but if you have a man for the job it can be fun and the three I made done turned out great My first Spector was done in '16 , a LX5 trans black originally, the controls moved to the cavity cover and the whole thing was refinished to a violet sort of color, highgloss on the body, oil finish on the neck. Played many gigs and even today on of the first bass I grab for practice or writing. The second was a pre-LX Euro5 natural, didn't do anything to the controls (East deluxe) but swapped the PUs to a 40P and J plus shaved the neck which was beefier originally than the LX The 3rd one was a blue SSD NS-4CR in boring blue that became classic white. I sold this long ago as 4 stringers weren't much use for me but with the full maple wings and super quiet Noll electronics it sounded massive. I don't think I have a pic at hand but you get the idea, a white NS Spector with dot inlays. The thing about refinish and mods is that you should do it only if the basses are keepers as they affect resale value (eventhough I received several offers for the pink and the purple) The pink and the purple have hundreds of gigs in them and keep counting and I love what was done to them even after 8-9 years. But these kinda things are not for everyone and to this day these are the only instruments of mine that were modified (apart from a pu or preamp swap)

More mystery; I know they're D'Addario, but that's it. Can't remember how I came by them, but I'm not a fan of roundwounds, unless they're Thomastiks, so here they are for sale. Not heavily used. They've been on a 2 a side bass, but judging from the winds on the G, I think they were cut for 4 inline. Price includes postage. Cheers.

series/split/parallel but with a DPDT on/on switch and a pot...?
Danage replied to Danage's topic in Repairs and Technical
@itu similarly, I've been doing them since the 90s. Personally I've found series/parallel to be my favourite. I'm aware of what the outcomes of my choices would be. The question I was posing was whether I had my technical implementation correct or not. -

Plenty of good Jazz pickups, but you want better than good, right? Dimarzio Relentless...arched tops to better fit neck radius and strings, adjustable pole pieces.
-
I like that. I like that a lot.
-
Strings... does the part between finger and bridge rattle, or between finger and nut? Sometimes sympathetic resonance may create funny sounds from the fretboard.
