I was going to say mids. But i find a woody tone is a bass that can dominate mids and give rich high frequencies.

Another vote for the Alpine earplugs. They work great with three different blocking ratios to choose from -
I don't know if I'm unlucky but after a while the shiny plastic covering starts peeling from quite a few of my bass tab books and manuals, sometimes quite badly. I recently learnt the way to fix them is to put a tea towel (or similar) on top of them and iron them on a high setting for a minute or two. I was sceptical but it really works, even on badly peeling books!

Why am I struggling to make bass sound good through PA?

That's a great app, thanks Bill -
I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.

Fingers crossed!

Today's gig was at the street fair in Charlbury, doing the usual jazz-ish originals. A strange gig as our sets were between those of singers/acoustic guitarists doing covers in the beer garden of the pub on the other side of the street. We could hear but not see them, so we had to be ready to go at the appointed time as soon as applause was heard, just in case they slipped another song in. They were similarly ready when we were playing. A video of some of our performance is available, though the intro was missed as the person filming was trying to move out of the rain. As the video shows, some kitchen sink/shelf units were out in the yard where we were performing - apparently the venue was undergoing some refurbishment. These turned out to be a convenient place to stash my bass bag and amp cover when not playing.

One of the guitarists goes through the PA sometimes. On one occasion he'd somehow turned up his volume vastly, and the sound from the Altos was both mind-buggeringly loud and very clear. I put a limiter on the mixer after that.
-
The smaller Altos are another 'affordable' brand. Our club uses bigger Alto powered speakers andcthey sound find and have proven vastly more reliable than HH. Last night we had a drum machine and then a guitar through them without backline no problems (except the guitar turned up far too loud).

binky_bass started following What Do I Need To Properly Re-Glue An Acoustic Guitar Bridge?
-
Evening all, I have an acoustic guitar that's worth saving but the bridge needs re-gluing. Does anyone know what glue/tools I'd need to do this properly? Hide glue seems to be the typical choice, and I assume some clamps with a suitable throat depth too... If anyone knows how to do this and the specific materials/tools needed (bear in mind I do need to operate on a budget to make this guitar worth saving!) I'd really appreciate some links to places where I can buy the right glue, clamps etc. to do this myself. Thanks! Russ.

I use Alto TS308s for FOH and TS408s for monitors. I did have them the other way round but the 408s are better shaped for floor monitor use and for some reason it seemed to improve the situation with feedback. When the speaker failed on my bass amp, I put the bass through the PA and it was fine, which was rather impressive - didn't want to make a habit of it though.

Took it back to Fair Deal today and they've booked it in for a repair after taking the side off (with my assistance) and finding that the speaker had disintegrated, as I'd predicted. Just hope that they can source the correct replacement - I did tell them that Polar Audio stock them.
