  2. If you mean they were stiff, they might be improved by the thrust washer mod - just do a search for "thrust washer" and you'll find it.
  3. 18:40 tonight sat on the sofa wondering whether to get on with some private work while wifey watched the football or some cr@p horror movie on Amazon. 18:44 Facebook message “are you free tonight our bass player just cried off sick?” 19:15 car loaded and on the road to the gig which was thankfully only a few miles down the road. I depped with the band last probably 8-10 years ago so there were some standards in the set and a few I had heard but not played. I took my iPad and found a few on iReal, the rest it was watching the guitarist or keyboard players left hand and busk it. No major clangers and a good drummer (also a dep but has been doing a few with them so he was up to speed) who was easy to lock in with. The keyboard player chucked in a final one not discussed but I sort of knew it and it was pretty straightforward so got through ok. We talked through the set before each one, did a quick yes/no/swap out and call keys during and “no one died” 😁 Only a smallish crowd but they were enjoying themselves and dancing so all in all what was going to be a quiet night in became an unexpected night out playing a load of songs I’d not done in a while, or ever. FrankenJazz, Helix Effects, Aguilar Tonehammer 350 and BF BigBaby2
  4. sorry i have just seen another post on the subject i started Mods feel free to delete this, sorry
  5. Yes, in these two examples the same note is used multiple times. The rhythmic approach was not the exact answer to the original question, although these lines are built with apparently simple bassic ingredients and still drive the songs.
  6. And white spirit, meths, or isopropyl alcohol (whichever you prefer the taste of) to get any gummy residue off. NB: for external application only. Contents may settle during transit. May contain nuts.
  7. Today
  8. Tears for fears - Everybody wants to rule the world. Simple, yet effective by Curt Smith (played with a PPG Wave synth).
  9. Bernard Edwards plays D a couple of times @ 1.45, 2.45, and 3.50 in the song I'm coming out sang by Diana Ross. The song was written by B. E. and N. Rogers.
  10. Price-wise it's in the same ballpark and sits neatly between the JMJ mustang & Nate Mendel Precision, and if its anything like those two quality-wise it should a cracker.
  11. For sale, My Vintage brand jazz. It has the vintage reissued Jaco alike body but an older fretted P bass neck. Full wilkinson hardware and pickups but with new cream covers. Nice player and ideal if you don't really like jazz width necks. I would estimate 4kg but not 100%, not particularly heavy though for sure. I have a shipping box so postage is negotiable, UK Only please. Cheers Craig.

  22. Next Saturday we'll be playing the Duck Inn, Duck Ln, Laverstock. A little out of town but a nice pub to play. It's a mate's 50th and his missus sorted it out with the pub...they don't usually have bands playing originals 😬. I've played there twice before with the soul band who seemed to know the local musicians, there was a quiet bloke who shook my hand after the first gig and apparently he was a bassist with the Troggs (so I was told! 🤷🏻‍♂️) and Titch from Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky Mick & Titch (try getting that right when you're drunk 😂) came along for the 2nd gig. We'll be lucky if anyone from any band turns up to watch us! Sorry for the poster quality, it's all I can post on here 😐
  23. Not really how it can work, as there is powered gear everywhere and not really much instrument only!
