  2. Why can a 50W guitar amp sound as loud as a 500 watt bass amp (into appropriate speakers)? 1. Hearing is much more sensitive at guitar frequencies than bass frequencies 2. Guitar speakers are generally significantly more sensitive at guitar frequencies, than bass speakers are at bass frequencies, often by a factor of 10dB 3. Guitar amps are often driven into distortion, which increases the effective compression and average power density. 4. Guitar speakers tend to beam more because of the frequencies (including harmonics) that they are reproducing, this increases the on-axis volume.
  3. I tracked down a Westone Pantera Deluxe X790 which was the only one I have ever seen for sale. Collected it from The Netherlands. Not to be confused with the much inferior X750 Another rare one that I have actually managed to buy twice is the Yamaha SB-35. Don't see those very often. I bought one, sold it, regretted it. Searched the internet every day for eight years. Saw one on eBay but it was loads too heavy. Saw a third one this year and bought it, below on the left, next to another one you don't see that often (although this is my third!), an Aria Pro II CSB 450 Black n Gold. Both medium scale.
  4. Interesting. I'm the opposite. I use La Bellas on my P and Chromes on my Jazz.
  5. Looks great 🤩 What are the pickups? Weight?
  6. I don't assume they use the same modules. I was having a dig about claimed output powers and mentioned them because they seem to be notable culprits. I appreciate that not all boards have integral power supplies. I've been toying with the idea of assembling (can't really call it building when all you do is put modules in a metal case and make a few connections) a power amp for my hi-fi using the Purifi Eigentakt modules people are singing the praises of, which don't have integral PSUs. Many appear to use Hypex PSUs with them.
  7. Beat on the Brat - Ramones
  8. Club Tropicana - Wham!
  9. The Zon Hyperbass is on my wanted list... I tried a brand new one around 30 years ago and I really liked it, but not its price tag...
  10. I tried one of these in GAK (RIP) a while back and thought it seemed like a regular sized bass. I could be remembering it wrong however.
  11. Ugly things and stupid money!
  12. Breakaway - Gallagher and Lyle
  13. I think it was Chris Spedding on guitar and maybe Roxy's drummer.
  14. And talking of aluminium necks, a Travis Bean would be nice. Saw one for sale recently and couldn’t believe the price!
  15. Always better to have put it on backwards in the first place, than to wake up the next morning with it all the wrong way round and no recollection of why.......
  16. Currently reading "The Thrill of it All" - the story of Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music. Am only a Greatest Hits CD deep into them, but still enjoying finding out more about them....... Only paid £4 for the book - apparently it's worth about £50!
  17. Tubeampology Deluxe Treble Bezel for Rickenbacker 4003. Black. Brand new and unused. This is the version with the raised thumb rest and the scooped sides to fit the current 4003 bridge pickup surround. Bought brand new when I was in the US recently and selling because I should have bought the one with the straight sides as mine is an older Rick. What a buffoon. Cost me $39 (currently just short of £30) plus shipping. Looking for £20 and I will post for free within the UK.
  18. Guy Pratt has appeared on many of Bryan Ferry’s albums over the years, along with ace guitarist Chris Spedding who started working with Bryan early on in his solo career. He also toured with Roxy.
  19. I’m sure we’ll get a good gang out for that one young Leonard 😁
  20. Yellow. With matching hush-puppies.
  21. I think we've all experienced putting some form of clothing on backwards at some point in our lives. When its underwear you have no option but go commando to sort it out. Its life and as long as we can all laugh at it then just enjoy the fun memory. That and the fact i like a good fun story when its someone else that's being laughed at. 🥰 Dave
  22. @ash sold a 4001FL on here a few months ago - I forced myself not to bite!
  23. If they need any advice where to visit i'm happy to share my travel experiences. I think i've been to almost every area of Scotland over the years. Apart from the extreme islands of course. Hopefully they get some decent weather as most years its wet and windy or sunny and windy or wet and sunny or any combination. I once had a weeks holiday at Loch Ness, 1st week in June and it snowed the first morning then glorious warm sunshine in afternoon and i mean jeans and T-shirt stuff and then rained late evening. Cannae beat the Scottish weather. So far this year its been a glorious Spring and typically 20 oC during the day which for us is a heatwave. 🤣 Dave
  24. I'd quite like a Gus; I had a go on @Happy Jack's some time ago - I think he said he acquired it from @BigRedX ?
  25. Band on the Run - Wings
  26. (Hat)Banned From The Roxy - Crass
