  1. Past hour
  2. Open to sensible offers. I'd much prefer a straight sale but I can always be tempted but the right trade!
  3. We're looking at The 2026 Midlands Bass Bash being held at Bentley Heath. Relax. Take a deep breath, hold it then slowly exhale while letting go of all those imaginary gremlins scampering around your mind. Now you can do your troubleshooting at leisure. See you there?
  4. Eat to the beat. Blondie
  5. Great bass at a great price
  6. Time has come to let go of this great bass rig. Had this for gigs but only got through one before the band had issues again. If I play again will be going to a power amp/modelling pedal and In ear setup as most of the places I can practice are quiet or have cabs available. Head was a purchase through Ashdown as a last chance with the warranty etc it has some dents scratches on it but all works great and is a powerful great sounding beast. I love Ashdown have had many over the years ABMs/CTMs/LBs this one is brilliant has all you expect from an ABM a professional level amp. 600w 9 band Eq Dual UV for input and output Speakon outs Foot switch option (not included) Size 135mm x 474mm x 320mm (£400 Ono collection preferably but could post at cost) Markbass MB58R 104 PURE Bass Cab 4ohm 800watt version This is a light exceptionally portable bass cab With great bass response which is surprising after you have carried it in. Has an adjustable tweeter and is just a great cab. Weight is around 16kg so an easy one person lift. Sounds great is great would keep it but is just taking up spare room space. Crossover Frequency: 3.5 Khz Frequency Response: 40hz to 20khz Sensitivity Db Spl: 103 Db Impedance: 4 Ohms Reflex: Rear 578mm x 600mm x 470mm (£500 on its own but collection only on the cab as wouldn't have a box etc) Any questions feel free to ask. Would consider a Nice Jap Pbass or a PJ of some sort as a trade /part trade

  7. Apparently, the Modulus made early necks were a myth (rrp of a modulus neck was almost as much as the rrp of the G Bass), and they are not actually carbon necks as marketed, they have a maple core with a carbon wrap. Still cracking basses for the money of course, but really interesting marketing choice from Peavey; the manual literally says it's a Carbon Graphite neck with no mention of it being mostly wood. Crazy but there you go. Still want it!
  8. Finally time to move on my Squier 40th Anniversary Precision in Lake Placid Blue. The bass is stock with gold hardwear and anodised pickguard, and in excellent condition. Hex Keys will be included as well. I bought this a couple of years ago as I was gigging more and wanted a solid backup to my Stingray at gigs, rather than take my old Harley Benton Jazz. I never needed it at a single gig and didn't even take it out of the case and put it on a stand (not enough room at gigs). I periodically take it out of the case to make sure it is in tune and working and then it goes away again, and the D'Addario strings are still in great shape. It really is a great bass, better QC than a lot of more expensive basses I have owned. I also think it is the prettiest bass I have owned, which has been verified by my wife and kids. One of the best things for me though, was that it is a really comfortable weight at 8.2lbs (according to my scales) which is an absolute joy for my ageing back. lt sounds and plays like a Precision should, but therein lies the issue for me. This is my third Precision now, I keep convincing myself I need one, and then realise ust don't get on with them. After so many years of playing Stingrays, I am just used to a certain hand position and sound, and I just need to give in an accept they are not for me. It is also such a shame to have it sitting doing nothing and I am not gigging much. I am located close to Tewkesbury, in Gloucestershire for collection. I am reluctant to ship it as I don't have many packing materials to hand and I don't really want to risk couriers. I think there is a chap on here who will pick up and deliver and I do have have an old Hiscox case which would be suitable for transportation if you want to go down that route. Please send me a message if you have nay questions.
  9. Forgot to add pictures of original electrics etc. And forgot to watermark, so at least I've done this one!

  12. Well that's annoying. I rebuilt the bias board with the correct component values but the result is the same - the bias voltage disappears when HT is applied. With 450V of HT there should be about -37V on the control grids accordoing to the 6L6GC spec sheet. I'm pretty certain that the tapping I am using for the bias is a completely separate secondary as I checked continuity when I first got the transformers out of the Bugera. It has a centre tap (unused) but the HT secondary doesn't as it went to a bridge rectifier (which is what I'm using on this build). I'll check that again, and then consider the following options: Voltage doubler on the 41V AC secondary. It may be that it just can't produce a high enough negative bias without this. Creating negative bias by dropping the HT with a potential divider. Merlin Blencowe goes into all this. Sadly it's looking less. likely that I'll have the amp ready for the SW Bass Bash
  13. Well, no reason it has to be hard to change the strings. I would certainly be happy to see them on other basses.

  16. For sale are a set of Fender PJ pickups with mounting screws in very good condition taken from my Japanese Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass. We have a Fender Standard Split Single Coil Precision Bass set along with a Fender Standard Single Coil Jazz Bass Bridge Pickup. These are good sounding, quality pickups, I only changed them because I have a clear idea of what sound I want for this configuration based on having used DiMarzio Model Ps in the past. The set is going for £75 including postage in the UK only. Here's my feedback thread:

Original BassBros listing (and better quality pictures) can be found here: https://bassbros.co.uk/sold-basses/2002-fender-american-deluxe-jazz-bass-qmt/
  20. Funny you gents mention Andertons - lovely shop for trying gear, I ve only ever bought cables and some strings off them. So much wonderful used gear around for ridiculous prices I just can’t bring myself to buy anything new (and have not the last 15yrs probably). Musically i am extremely diverse, I grew up on Jaco and jazz greats but have dabbled in experimental ambient and even metal at times.
  21. It took a long time because it's headless and they wanted to make up new ways of it being headless rather than using something that's been around for 40 years, like they do with the headed basses? Not sure about those string clamps - how secure are they against accidental release? And what real advantages do they offer over screw clamps for those of us whose time between string changes can be measured in months or years? Headless basses do seem to have regained popularity, which is nice.
