triplebass started following Legal help knowledge needed - Warranty right on a second hand bass
-
Can anybody help with this... i'm in Belgium and would like to know what are my options in claiming warranty for a second hand bass (made in UK) that obviously has a production error. I believe EU law covers warranty in this case ("If you buy a second-hand item, the seller usually limits the guarantee to the legal minimum of one year. If he does not do this, you are entitled to a two-year guarantee in accordance with the law.") What is the situation in UK regarding warranty on second hand products? The bass was made in 2024. BACKSTORY: i got a bass in a trade. I noticed a problem with the sound/volume balance when trying it out but i thought it could be solved with a setup or string change. The previous owner played with a compressor so according to him didn't notice the problem. I contacted the maker (UK) and was redirected to the PU maker (UK). Had new blades installed, didn't help, as it turns out the pickups used are too small. Weren't supposed to go on a 5 string bass at all according to the PU maker. Don't know how to approach the maker now. I like the bass and would love to have the problem sorted. And I don't want to drop the bass off to another sucker. Suggestions? Thanks

I have sold the QC to a friend for a bit less than I could've if I had wanted to list it in various places. I lent it to him and he loved it so it was an easy sale. I'm not going for an Anagram though. I've decided to go mostly Analog and down the MXR and Dunlop route, and considering eventually maybe a HX One Stomp for those one off pedals I like having more for fun or for an extra bit of drive. This way I'll have a fair bit if cash left over from the QC sale.

Type 'damaged screw extractor' into Amazon (other Googles are available) and there's a range of tools for this very job. Best of luck.

I seem to be missing from the list, but may not have categorically said "I'm in" back on page 2 in January. 😆

FretsOnFire started following Small cab required for when jamming with just a drummer
-
Bit of a weird question but basically I'm looking for a speaker cab that'll be good enough for jamming with just a drummer. For full group practice etc I'll use my MarkBass cab but thought I'd see if I could find something smaller for times when the big cab isn't needed. My amp head is a tc BH250 Price range about £130.

Yamaha DXR 8 Active Speaker This unit has been used as a keyboard monitor and comes with brand new Yamaha outdoor semi waterproof cover and mains lead. It is in good condition although it has lost its control knob caps. Everything works as it ought to. It is in very good cosmetic condition It’s very powerful for an 8” active cab. Great little multi purpose speaker. The original woofer has been replaced with a recommended Fane equivalent. Power Output: Dynamic: 1100W (LF: 950W HF: 150W) / Continuous: 700W (LF: 600W HF: 100W) Frequency Range: 57Hz - 20kHz Inputs: XLR-3-31 x1 , INPUT2: Phone x2, INPUT3: RCA PIN x 2, THRU: XLR3-32 x 1 (Parallel with INPUT 1 ), LINK OUT: XLR x 1 Pole Mounts: 2 options - 1 straight and 1 angular socket for mounting at downward angles Dimensions: 280mm (11") x 458mm (18") x 280mm (11") Weight: 13.5kg (29.8lbs) Pickup preferred but I can post at buyer’s cost. It is very well built and the packed weight will reflect this so I envisage it will be around £20 to post it. UK only. Priced to reflect the replacement driver and lack of control caps.

I recently bought a badass bridge and whilst fitting it to my Jazz the top of the screw sheared off. It was fault, I maybe tightened it too much whilst fitting. I have looked at various YT vids but has anyone got any experience of removing said screw? It has broken flush with the body so I can`t get a grip. I`m guessing it will need to be plugged after removing but any advice is appreciated.

Ooh that is so good. That bass sounds fantastic even on my phone. Will get a better listen tonight when I get home.

I decided to change the pickups on my Cort Space 4 from the Bartolinis to EMG Jazz bass and had this great idea of making pickup surrounds to hide the gaps around the new pickups. Something simple scratchplate material. Unfortunately, this morning, I ran out of talent and made a complete dog's ear of trying to make them. I've seen them on Ebay in the USA but they seem a bit steep at the best part of £50 for a couple of bits of plastic. Does anyone know a source in the UK for these or even if one of the many talented members on here are able to make these for me? I just need simple black surrounds that I will probably just tape on to cover the 108mm x 34mm gap. I had also thought about buying soapbar sized covers for these and fitting them over the top but I dislike how large they are. I can't rest my thumb on the edge like I can with Fender or Musicman sized pickups due to the fact that the edge of the pickup is so far from the strings
