  2. This is a total bargain, especially with all the work Mr.Grey has put into it. As we all know, nitro finish basses have their own distinct sound and resonance, and a tone that polyurethane gloss instruments can't equal. It's even got me looking at the gig diary to see when I'm down in Hampshire again!
  3. That looks ridiculous, it beggars belief how it’s possible for everyone in the chain to make an acceptable margin. GLWTS lovely looking bass.
  4. Rebel Yell - Billy Idol
  5. Carry On Screaming - Boz Burrell
  6. As they have round cores I would say there's a bit mellower than the D'Ads. Watch this video, from 1:56 to 2:42 and then again from 6:49 to 7:35, which might help.
  7. "Always on" version of the famous Boss tuner pedal. Takes up less space on your pedalboard. Pretty much mint condition. Price includes postage. Stock image below for now.
  8. I've had these a while, using them in various amps with valve preamp stages, but my move away from such amps means they are now surplus: Mullard ECC83 - code B6B3 means made in Blackburn, third week of February in either 1956, 1966 or 1976 = £50 Mullard ECC83 - (code backward3)91 means made in Chelmsford for Mullard by Marconi, but not sure how to date the rest = £50 Mullard ECC81 - no code that I can see = £25 Caveat Emptor: I have tested them in my Demeter amp and they are all working fine at time of writing, but as always with old valves be aware they can fail at any time. Please do bear that in mind before you buy.

  9. I pulled this as the new price has dropped below £500 now. However, on reflection I think £600 for the amp in mint condition, plus the bluetooth adapter, footswitch and carry bag is still a good deal, so it's back up again.
  10. Looks wonderful - if I could justify bringing in another steed and didn't have a tot on the way I'd be driving over... All the best with the sale and sorry about the rubbish circumstances for you! Tobie
  11. I personally like a truckload of Beatles covers more than the originals. Examples include: Got To Get You Into My Life by Earth, Wind and Fire. Julia by Medeski, Martin and Wood. With A Little Help From My Friends by Al DiMeola. I Am The Walrus by Jim Carey. It's For You by Cilla Black (not sure if this was a cover or 'written for'. The list goes on and on. You can't say the covers made the originals, though. Very few could compete with the success of The Beatles.
  12. I vividly remember reading an article in Guitarist magazine with Jack Bruce and he said that he didn't pick up his bass unless he was writing a song. At the time I couldn't imagine this as the first thing I did when i got home from school was plug in and play until tea time. Fast forward 38 years and I don't pick up my bass unless I have something to learn. Last year I took a year out after 30 years of constant playing and maybe picked up my bass a handful of times, only to make sure that I could still play. Regarding losing muscle mass as we get older - this is called sarcopenia and is though to begin when we're in our 30s. They can't work out if it's due to not moving as much in adult life as we did when we were kids or if it's just an age thing but it's a huge issue. This is why I train at the gym. I don't want to be Arnie and walk around like I'm carrying a roll of carpet under each arm, I'm doing it as a preventative measure to try to avoid being frail with arms like knitting needles and not able to walk the length of myself when I get old. This is another reason why protein is so important for everyone, not just people who go to the gym, as it can help slow this down as well. Just remember to eat plenty of fibre to keep it moving otherwise you can end up getting bunged up 😫🥴 I'm grateful that approaching 50 I am not on any medication as I know a lot of people, some younger than me, who are already rattling with what they have to take. I do currently take Turmeric & black pepper tablets in the morning, Creatine at 11am, fish oil and magnesium bisglycinate at tea time and zinc monomethionine before bed. Once great exercise I like to finish with at the gym is the farmer's walk. For me it's picking up 2 16kg kettle bells and walking as far as I can with them. Sounds crazy but if you think about it, we all do the farmer's walk carrying gear in and out of gigs so it keeps me in practice between gigs to keep the strength.

I've reached out via email to all 3 email addresses on the website 3 times now and have sent 2 DM's. What is going on? I'd seriously appreciate it if someone could shed a bit of light with the radio silence if possible please.
  15. I use taperwound 125 B strings on all of my 31.5" scale ACG basses and they sound and feel great! They also tune down to A and remain equally good. I actually think the design, construction and setup of a bass has more to do with a solid low B than using a super massive string.

  18. There is an awesome Behringer Brassmaster NAM available at tone3000. My go to fuzz with the anagram. Could someone do some NAMs of a Capo?
  19. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
  20. Start by familiarising yourself with the intro verse and choruses before the bridge. Two bars of C one bar of F and last bar Ab and G.Or the 1 to the 4 and then the 6 to the 5 in C Minor. The 4 6 5 movement repeats before the 1st and 2nd chorus chant and the bridge section. Edited 10 hours ago by Terry M. Yes this is what I said originally. No mention of 5 to 6.
  21. The original thread was about outlandish pricing Jake, of which I thought this was an example, hence my post. Thanks for the explanation.
  22. I've gone from several pedals (octaves, chorus, big muffs) to just an Empress bass comp and tuner. I love the empress compressor, it adds a little bit of harmonic distortion. Its subtle, but it makes the bass sit better in a mix. I do think a tiny bit of drive is essential
  23. Greetings from the Mile High city! Been playing music for 29 years, 3 years into the bass and loving the vibe. I keep coming back to this site for the different conversations, figured it's time to join. Cheers!
  24. I was hoping that might not be the case, though I suspect you are right. I will go for lightweight 6 if I have to.
  25. Good evening, friends. Here's the thing: I bought a set of Rotosounds SH77s a few months ago. I took it to my luthier, he put the strings on, and right away I noticed that the G string had an "old string" sound, completely dull. Well, I asked the dealer here in my country for a replacement string and they gave me a brand new set. My luthier put them on, and when I got home, the G string was dull again... Now I'd like to know what could be happening. I tried taking the string off and putting it back on, and I didn't see any difference. Maybe my problem is with the Badass Bass bridge or the tuning machines. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? I've read elsewhere that it's a problem that can happen with Fenders... By the way, my bass is a Japanese Fender Steve Harris.
  26. I’ve just played with it tonight and hooked it up with my focusrite via xlr. I quite like what I hear on the settings I’ve dialled in. It sounds amazing just before breakup and that’s how I set it up. I noticed when I engage my Octabvre and Doom, it kinda sounds a bit rounded? Probably the cabsim. It’s not bad. It pairs well with the Empress whether it’s light or heavy compression, I quite like it. The Capo is more versatile but I found it easier to dial a nice vintage tubey tone with the Bassrig. I have a love and hate relationship with the Capo’s B channel. Sometimes i love it but sometimes I feel it’s underwhelming. Spent the night playing around. I found it easy to dial my go-to tones. I like the Noble here than the Stomp. The Kaamos Octaver sounds ace and it tracks so well. Envelope Filter and Moogerfooger sounds organic and waaay better than the Stomp filters. Very easy to navigate and work with. Only thing I’m missing is a good sounding synth brassmaster type fuzz. I can’t get the duality to sound the way I like. Also a 1176 style compressor would be good! Hyper luminal is meh for me but it is workable and useable. It’s a good purchase for me and I’m glad I did.
