Keyboard players who lean heavily on the lower keys are the worst. It turns everything to mud. They're supremely guilty of playing what sounds best when they're alone.

One of the massive advantages of having everything going through the desk & FoH? And if the venue says can you turn it down a bit / take it up you can oblige at the push of a slider.

I should add that the USB loopback method works when you're using the recording device as the source of the music too. I have no idea what would happen if you streamed the backing audio over Bluetooth from a second device and tried to record that and the bass from the USB connected device. I'm almost certain it wouldn't result in death or, indeed, anything other than minor injuries, but remember, safety first, wear rubber gloves and wellington boots, or anything similar available from your local M&S&M.

You can also try the tested and proven swing method to untwist the cable, should you find that it has become more twisted than you are comfortable with.

Well, I've had "the discussion" with Mrs Rocks. "Our house isn't big enough for a double bass." We do live in a very small 2 bed bungalow, and I have already crammed 6 electric basses, 3 electric guitars, 2 acoustic guitars, 5 GK amps, 2 Barefaced cabs, and a vintage Fender Bassman 50 head and 15^ cab into it. Yes - try before you buy though, there's quite a few variants and you might find a Speedmaster or Bobber suits you better than a T120 or Speed Twin. The 1200 engine has plenty of torque.

Hi guys, I'm thinking of going from a gt-1b to a gx10. Have anyone used this for a bass? I don’t particularly use many fx (a little chorus, drive and compression mainly) live but as I’m doing more in ear gigs I’m looking for something that I can get a better amp sound with, while having something small enough to make it easy to carry. Thanks for any advice

Take a look at Tracey Tools. More woodworking focused. Proops, if still going, sometimes have good stuff. I think I got some Vallorbe files from them (the best )

I built my home practice Valeton into a board. Most of the time I use the Valeton but it needs a wall wart and uses jacks, whereas the quad cortex gig rig that I sometimes use at home for setting patches etc needs a power cable and xlrs. I hate getting on my hands and knees behind the chair to mess with the cables! Korg pitchblack custom, Valeton gp100, Thomann DI. Pedaltrain nano, Cooks Adam. Occasional wireless bugs.

Agreed that a good pre-amp pedal, whether as a standalone or as part of a multifx, could make a positive difference, particularly if it also has decent EQ options that aren't available on the bass, amp, or desk. A "better bass" is a can of worms though! Could potentially be money very poorly spent, particularly if the OP is already happy with his current bass.

I'm pretty sure the pickups in your Peavey "Dyna-Bass International Series", it's Sunday might as well use it's full name, are the same as in the C-Series/Zephyr. I never found replacements with the correct dimensions, hopefully time has solved that wee issue 👍

That applies to bass players as well. Full lows and moderate mids sounds great, be it at home or when playing alone on stage. But it's not always that way when the full band kicks in, nor when you go out into the room.

I want to upgrade the weedy pickups in a 90's Peavey International with something with a bit more punch but want to keep costs down so thinking of the cheap Wilkinsons. You were lucky. In the 70's I had a small glockenspiel and a plastic four string guitar. No wonder I've got behind with cable technology.

I played a sludge metal gig through an Elf once. My Orange wouldn't work when I got to the venue but the sound tech had an Elf so I used it. It was perfectly decent and survived 45 minutes at max volume which a lot of amps wouldn't do without overheating. Not bad for a compact head.
