  1. Past hour
  2. Just weighed it. It comes in at 4.3kg on the bathroom scales (Sorry for the delay my old scales were broken)
  3. Lovely, glwts.
  4. I have never really expected my former workmates to do much in the way of making an effort to attend my gigs. I guess they saw more than enough of me at work and vice versa. I don't think some of them were particularly interested in live music, regardless of who was playing it, so I was never hugely offended. I don't expect everyone to be interested in the same things as me. Years after I left my old job, it's become an occasional thing for some of them to use it as an excuse for a get-together, organised through Facebook, which suits me down to the ground. It's good to see them and in some cases, have something else to do. What's really good is that when some of them see me with a bass in my hands and see exactly what I have been doing on stage, they suddenly understand the long hair that got all those sideways looks and the afternoons I had off to go guitar hunting and all of the gigs that I did that they knew about but didn't come to. It's sometimes really good to shock them with a really tight band that mixes things up a bit and give them something they really didn't expect. It's also good when people that I know turn up who are into music and then it's the challenge of doing what we do and hopefully impressing them. It's only a challenge because two of the wheels fell off our wagon around May and July and I have had to replace our guitarist and drummer after 9.5 years. The band is getting tighter and more versatile now. Social media is a good way of gathering the troops, but I tend not to rely on it for most of my friends as dragging themselves out to watch bands isn't what they do.
  5. Has anyone bought a set of Grover 145c and found any parts missing? My set arrived today, in a box that looked like it had been kicked from the shop to my letterbox. I opened them up, sat and studied them and thought, somethings missing here, the large washers (4) that go onto the ferral barrel thingy, nowhere to be seen.... anybody got any spares I could buy please..? 🙁
  6. Hi Gizmo, I don't have one of the necks with me, they're in the UK. But I'll do my best to answer your questions based on the Moses neck the Aurok necks are based on. The radius is fairly flat so probably 16". The profile is a shallow d shape, the string spacing at the bridge can be whatever you like, I'm not sure what the spacing is at the nut, I'll measure a Moses neck tonight as a guide, and get back to you with an edit to this post.

  8. Today
  9. I'm just not sure if id bother lugging that bloody bastard around for it's 300 watts .. it's a vibe for sure but I think they mention in the video that you can't put a expansion cab on it and kts tuned for the full power out of it's setup. It's going to fall into the too small to gig without pa support and too expensive to make sense for smaller players .
  10. Yesterday
  11. Fortunate Sons this evening. More of a try out the latest iteration of the pa than owt else tonight. An hour of set up. Fancy new speaker stans with handles to raise them up after you put them on the poles! Focused on our second set. Had a few fumbles and a complete brain fart on I'm a man... what could be simpler?
  12. Had no idea there was such a demand for resonators from Yorkshire!! Well worth it, and there's loads of walks in the vicinity if you're not feeling ambitious enough to tackle one of the three peaks.

  14. It definitely in the pocket as snug as a snug thing lol
  15. I have had this issue on various screws on basses & guitars. To fix, I remove the screw and smooth over the rough bit very gently with a diamond file. Then I go over it with micromesh pads and they're good as new. Even on neckplate screws I can't tell which ones have been smoothed off and which haven't. edit — just noticed that this is a thread from 2018! Oh well.
  16. Say you'll pay once you've seen a photo of the bass with today's newspaper.
  17. Tell him you're happy to pay once you have checked the bass over and wait for it to go through before taking it.
  18. My goodness, if my jazz sells, itll be difficult to stay away from this 😓
  19. Slightly related but a little too late for this case... i insure my valuable packages through Secursus. £10 per £1000 value roughly, and i've had them pay out before for a damaged speaker. Cheaper and more dependable than the broker/courier scammy insurance with a ton of clauses. Worth a look for sure!
  20. that was a wierd 30 min on google... I have an acoustic 6 string that was made by a Yorkshire luthier who then made resonators.... no google search joy but gemini tracked him down, different guy Steve Evans later Beltona resonators.... anyway I have put the date in the diary and will confer with the other half... tbh last time I came it was sunny and I thought it would be fun to walk up the hill behind the hall too!
  21. Latest update on my 2 Jaydees (GA24 & S3 with saturn inlays): After maybe 5 years they are now being built! I am travelling down to Jaydee HQ soon as I want the neck profiles the same as my current S3. So that's really great news, I think I heard from Mike Brooksy also that they are working on clearing that backlog for the next year or 2...
  22. I used my Plunge Audio Dynamics for the first time yesterday.... A bit of background: I use my existing IEMs occasionally, mainly under protest. They're KZ ZS10s, but they always sound brittle, fizzy and uninspiring to me, so I stick with my ACS attenuators and a monitor whenever I can. That setup is a bit of a clart on for the band and our engineer, so I promised myself I’d finally make the leap. I did some research (not easy, given the sheer volume of ChiFi IEMs out there muddying the waters) and also looked at more expensive options like ACS. In the end, I landed on the Plunge Dynamics. Handmade in Canada, they’re not custom moulds, but they still offer 15dB of attenuation. There’s also a pricier, non-ported stage version that provides even more isolation, but they Dynamics seemed to suit my needs. They're a single dynamic driver rather than a complex array of dynamics and armatures like most IEMS. I was hoping that would translate into a warmer, more natural sound, and I was right... they’re a genuine revelation. As soon as I put them in, I could tell they're night-and-day compared to the KZs. They're so immersive, with a real sense of air and warmth, without feeling isolated. The bass is round and dynamic. I went through soundcheck and the gig without giving them a second thought. They’re beautifully made and packaged, with high-quality accessories, and they arrived from Canada in just a few days. If you’re in the market for new IEMs, they’re definitely worth a look...
  23. It was sent through interparcel, who sell their own insurance rather than rely on the couriers, or at least used to. You'd have to pay for it of course, but can't imagine any shop would send anything uninsured, surely?
  24. Hi guys, Just recorded a video in 4k so you can really see the detail of the body with the glassy finish... yep still in good condition after all these years!
  25. That sucks, sorry to hear that. I don’t think Parcelforce offer any enhanced compensation for musical instruments unfortunately, despite taking the money for it.
  26. Diamonds on my Windshield. Tom Waits
