That's funnily enough exactly what I thought when I saw it, albeit far more clearly articulated, in short that this is more about marketing and image than audio. There's so much about it that hasn't been designed with a gigging player in mind (no wheels plus what looks to be a flimsy handle, no ext out, awkward shape with exposed controls), and too much that appears to have been designed to grab attention. I hope it comes in a very strong and well designed cover or the days of those knobs are numbered.

Bass The World - Harley Benton Signature Bass.
NancyJohnson replied to spyder's topic in Bass Guitars
Don't we see this type of scenario periodically? Harley Benton announced an (orange coloured) EB2 style bass a few years back, I think it was @neepheid that bought the prototype and did some mods to the guts, but from memory the bass never went into production. Possibly something similar here? Fanfare for a model that may not appear? -
Here we have a Kala U bass 5 string solid body which has the Kala gig bag which come with it. These are just incredible for their size and punch well above their weight in sound and this 5 string version is excellent. Light, compact and so easy to play, just needs a new home where it will be played more. Plastic still on pick guard, so itโs just about immaculate at less than half the price. I have the box it was shipped in so can post it - UK only though.

The fact theyโve released a stripped back version of the UK RBM 500 (the UK OBM 500) for ยฃ499 is pretty amazing and knocks spots off everything else in the market for lightweight, quality, 500w class D amps at the price IMO! When the established companies like Aguilar are moving the TH500 v2 for twice the price and almost half the warranty (3 vs Ashdownโs 5 years), it shows just how much of a gap there is for these releases. Well-played Ashdown! https://ashdownmusic.com/products/uk-obm-500?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=21de654dd&pr_rec_pid=15226954744194&pr_ref_pid=4471249535069&pr_seq=uniform

Yes I thought the same and my glasses were clean ๐๐๐ค

This just epitomises what Aguilar has become since the Daves moved on. Overpriced, lacking basic functionality with โnew aestheticsโ designed for the โinfluencerโ persona which theyโve gone all-in on (in place of all the established working players like Dave Swift et al that they decided to no longer support). When you look at companies like Ashdown and their NAMM26 releases (like UK-built 500w Original EVO amps for ยฃ499 vs its Aguilar counterpart v2 TH500 at ยฃ959), you can see how disconnected Aguilar have become. Trying to role it in glitter and flog it for twice the price, relying on brand premium and what brands look good for videosโฆ Iโve seen it before with brands and feels like the writing is on the wall!

The guy has the most astonishing sense of groove I've ever heard.

I believe it's the serial number having seen several over the years with a P. and always a different number on the plate (and the left-handed version had LH after the digits). Highest number I recall was P.019.

TONIGHT! (Technically last night as it's past midnight but it counts as tonight) Second gig with a new band (Midnight Mayhem (they were already called that when I joined, don't judge me)) at The Rose & Crown in Ludlow. Lovely old pub that has lots of live music so they're used to it, fairly small stage place where the band goes, decent mob there by the time we'd set up and soundchecked (The soundcheck (sixteen bars of 'All the small things') had people up dancing (!)) and from the off people were loving it - singing along, dancing and generally enjoying it. Mid first set, a bloke came up and told me he appreciated my Bass playing (Not 'liked' it, mind you) which I tried to take as a compliment, then he stood right in front of me and watched me intently which meant I completely forgot how to play. At half time a guy I'd genuinely never seen before came up and greeted me like a long lost friend ("I forgot you said you did this too!" ) so I had to pretend I knew who he was (because I am English and to say "I'm so sorry but I have no idea who you are" is about as appealing as stamping on a newborn kitten) which was...odd. The set went down really well, it's a mix of (sort of) alt-80s type stuff (Back on the chain gang, couple of Blondie ones, Kids in America (Kim Wilde - absolute BANGER and tonnes of fun to play), There's a guy works down the chipshop swears he's Elvis, Doctor Doctor (Robert Palmer), Echo Beach, Sweet Dreams sort of thing), a few pub-cover chestnuts (Dakota, Teenage Dirtbag, Mr Brightside (which the guitarist started in the wrong key and then got horribly confused when it came to the chorus but he styled it out)), a couple of curveballs (Take another little piece of my heart, Crash (Primitives)) and an ABBA one for good measure. I went for a wireless wander for the last song (Born to be wild) which got a good reception AND I got to fuss TWO Doggos *AND* a man told me my dreadlocks are "Really Cool". We played really well, sounded good, went down a treat (Even the bar staff liked us) and the singer said my playing "brought them to another level" which was very gratifying to hear. Played the StingRay -> Small board (I only used the Soul Food) -> Amp board (Thumpinator -> VTDI) -> Markbass CMD 121, footwear was the bright orange DMs (with glittery black laces). An absolute corker of a gig!
