  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah sadly these ones were any colour as long as it's black, but this will do me until I can find something even pointier
  3. The neck profile on these is so nice. Looks like you got a nice clean one, congrats!
  4. Still available.
  5. Played a set at a bluegrass festival last night as a trio of guitar, mandolin and DB and we all sing. We have done this before and it went well but the leader and main vocalist was not feeling well and it showed with sloppy intros and endings and some other slip ups that are not normal for us. On Saturday and Sunday we play two more sets but with the full 5 piece band and by that time we are hoping the leader has recovered. Not our finest set but that's just the way it goes sometimes.🙄
  6. No, it was mine you played at the SE Bash.
  7. HILS Next HNB5 Fanned Fret 5-string Bass with Artec 3-band preamp - £490. I picked this bass up as a part exchange this week. Now set up beautifully and sounds fantastic. Very detailed, huge and punchy. Brand new Elixir 40-125 strings, low action with no buzz. Quite light weight, too. Disclosure: The bass has been monkey'd around a bit by the previous owner, who swapped the original preamp for an Artec 3, leaving a slight crack in the finish under the G tuner and a filled hole that was drilled, but you have to look for it in order to notice it. The plus point being that noise-wise it's as quiet as a mouse and sounds huge. Full disclosure: I gave £450 in P/X for this instrument and have added about £70 worth of new strings, so I'm not making anything here. Comes complete with the very nice quality original HILS gig bag. Buyer to collect, or I can meet you half way over a reasonable distance. As usual, interesting trades always considered. Worst I can say is, "No."
  8. Intrigued to see how this is going to go to be honest... We need more bands like this to show the young kids that playing instruments is 'cool'
  9. Told you I wasn't digging the black tuners... So, that's it all in matching chrome RE: hardware. Took the opportunity to give the fretboard a drink of lemon oil and restrung with a fresh set of D'addario XL nickel rounds. Think I'm done here.
  10. I've played this very bass and it's exceptional. Also a very nice weight which is unusual for one of these. A really lovely example. If I still played 5s this would already be mine.
  11. I didn't know they even had one?! "Freebird!"
  12. "Liam! Smack Noel round the head with your tambourine!"
  13. Christ, it's never easy is it. Ive now ordered another Nux. I had a rehearsal with the BDDI and I love the tone, but I have a few gigs coming up where I'll be using an Ampeg. Can't see the point of using the BDDI, but I do want a bit more drive on some songs. There is no way to add this with the BDDI without the blend being up, and I feel things could start getting messy. The Nux can be used just as a drive and without colouring the sound. For now this will work better. Im keeping the BDDI though
  14. If it's made well it makes no difference where it was assembled.
  15. Friedn of mine is considering paying £450 for a Ticketmaster-approved resale ticket. World gone mad. Anyone there today, I hope you have an amazing time and that you can see over the sea of smartphones proving these people were there.
  16. I paid for a brand new American Fender once and within weeks the paint started to peel. Fender replaced it through the retailer Guitar Guitar but I've never had a Squier do that.
  17. You don’t need to be a professional musician to understand the sound a guitar makes 😂
  18. I'm not telling you what your experience is at all,no way can I do that. I'm saying that it feels superior to YOU which is all that matters 👍
  19. This is basically the only guaranteed difference. Does the buyer really want something that has been assembled in the west or something assembled in the east!
  20. Today
  21. Worth every penny. One of the things I love about these Mark I versions is the fact that you can flip the impedance switch on the side and get the full 500W into either 8 or 4 ohms. It's a nice feature that the Mark II doesn't have. Good luck.
  22. Evaluating (or designing) a speaker cab by measuring it is infinitely more complex than micing up a cab for recording or sound reinforcement. You need a calibrated mic for a start. There's a whole battery of measurements you need to carry out using specialist software. Done properly, however, you can form a reasonably accurate idea of how a speaker will perform (although your ears will always be the final arbiter). To measure a loudspeaker, you need to place the mic in what is termed the "far field" - or between 4 and 6 feet for the Monaco or similar cab. Any closer than this and the two drivers are not fully integrated. I've found measuring on the tweeter axis to be the most useful position. To remove the impact of the room in the absence of an anechoic chamber, the test tones from the speaker have to be "gated" in software. Unfortunately, this useful technique doesn't allow measurement at low frequencies. So, the low frequency response has to be checked separately using either near-field or ground plane measurements. The two measurements are then adjusted for level and spliced together to create a full-range response. If you're a stickler, you also measure and splice the response of the port. This gives you the frequency response on axis, and you've only just started.😀
  23. Rockin' All Over The World - Status Quo
  24. Yes, there are undoubtedly some mutts in every Fender range. As I always say, you get one diamond in every 10-20 basses with Fender, so it is very difficult to generalise. I've been lucky with my main three Jazzes. They're all fantastic working tools that I love the feel and sound of and all three earn me a large chunk of my living. Again, obviously they're still not a patch on my Status basses, but then you're talking another ballpark entirely.
  25. I suppose there’s good and bad in all different ones , I’ve never had a bad American one myself , neither has anyone I know, you get what you pay for
  26. Yes, if you have good ears, you can hear the difference in the resonance with the better quality woods, through body stringing, and the better quality pickups make a huge difference, too. I also use identical 40-95 Elixir sets on all of them, so you can acutely pick out the differences
