  2. If you know of Origin Effects, then you know of their top notch build quality (built like tanks) with the best components and a true passion for getting 'that sound' The Super Vintage is based off the 1969 Ampeg SVT with a built in 8x10 Cab sim and it achieves that sound tremendously. Having nothing but compliments on my bass tone (a rare thing let me tell you). This pedal has been as plug and play as you can get, with little to no fiddling or some very intuitive messing around, I got warm old soul, clanking metal, fat Dub sounds and manily, a very usable and versatile sound. Only reason for selling is I am downsizing and this pedal is a bit overkill for what I need now. Can be delivered anywhere in the UK for £10. Any questions then please feel free to ask! Analogue amp recreation. Complete valve amp-style signal path with dedicated class-A preamp and push-pull output stage. Based on the legendary Ampeg® SVT®. Balanced DI output with analogue cabinet simulator based on the Ampeg® SVT 8x10" cabinet. Reactive overdrive design simulates interaction between amp and speaker for realistic feel and authentic sound. Full range of vintage bass amp tones from clean to overdriven. Powerful tone-shaping Amp Out EQ. Blend control lets you mix your drive sound in parallel with your clean signal. Tour-grade, all-metal construction. High-impedance buffered bypass with silent switching. Designed and assembled by hand in England. Weight: 846 g (1.14 lb) Dimensions: 146 mm (L) x 92 mm (W) x 64 mm (H) Current Draw: 150 mA Power: 9V DC, 2.1mm Centre Negative
  3. Hissing Of Summer Lawns - Joni Mitchell
  4. The IMA patches are very good. GLWTS man
  5. That's a reasonable question but, actually, if the school bass was also my main gigging bass, yes. I was walking into a venue for a gig I'd been really looking forward to about 15 years back with a DB worth around £1000 in a case worth around £50. A complete prat decided to try and 'nip' through the door ahead of me, in doing so pushed me slightly off balance, and the result was that the bridge hit the door frame, was knocked down, which broke the (f***ing expensive) wound gut E- string, but which more significantly caused the soundpost to fall. I was in a small, relatively dark venue with about an hour to fix it all, so decided instead to get my fretless electric backup and use that. Not the end of the world but the sound and performance was way off what I and the band had hoped for, especially given it was a trad music venue. In short the cash I subsequently spent on the Soundwear had nothing to do with the value of the bass and everything to do with getting that bass in and out of venues with hassles. And it did, it's one rugged, robust, and reliable bag 👍
  6. A fantastic compressor with plenty of tonal variety using 3 styles of compression with their own respective ratios. The SSL Bus compressor, FET 1176 and Darkglass's own Super Symmetry. There is also a lot of great tweaking that can be done via computer with the timings of attack, release and even a HPF. In fantastic condition, including box, manuals, rubber feet etc. Specifications: Hybrid Analog/Digital Compression Pure Analog signal path Blend control 3 built in yet distinct modes of advanced modelled compression Connect to your PC/Mac via Micro-USB (B) Free ‘Darkglass Suite’ software (provides additional fine control and compression models) 10-LED gain reduction meter Touch-Through metal sensors Internal doubling of supply voltage to 18V (allows for extra headroom) I/O: 6.5mm / ¼” Jack Input impedance: 1M Ohm Output impedance: 1k Ohm (9V DC, centre -, 2.1mm, ~250mA current draw)
  7. I don't think it is fair to compare a Fela Kuti to a swastica t-shirt. Also if you can't relate to the song's lyrics, don't play it. This goes as far as I am concerned for everything. You are not going to do a song justice if you can't relate to it. And if all it is to you is a nice tune, maybe you are right that it would be disrespectful to play it. I would hope though that most people can empathize with other people's suffering no matter what color their skin happens to be and no matter where they happen to live.
  8. A good condition Line 6 HX Stomp with original power supply, Ian Martin Allison patches and some other paid patches. I don't have the original box but I do have a fantastic box that will it will be sent in. Really enjoyed the HX Stomp but I'm downsizing and will be overkill for what I need. Postage can be arranged for an extra £10 to anywhere in the UK Any questions please shoot!
  9. Re Dreadlock Holiday I suspect that 10cc would agree. There's a post on here somewhere from about 10-15 years back when one of the members was playing in an Americana band that, as many did, used a Confederate flag as a stage prop. A member of the audience took offence and I think there was some discussion about the legitimacy of that response. For me the bottom line is that I would never want a member of the (relatively small) audience I play to feeling in any way uncomfortable at one of our gigs. Our guitarist suggested a track a while back and we were all a little surprised that our drummer said no, and did so categorically. It's quite well known song and the lyrics in question were (I assume) intended by the writer as deeply ironic. But the drummer was firm and argued that if he felt uncomfortable with the ambiguity about the irony, so might others. It was quite a helpful process because it allowed us to get to a point at which we agreed that given the sheer number of bloody decent songs out there, we should never feel any pressure to play a song that might make us or any of our audience feel uncomfortable. Does this mean that I feel that music shouldn't create discomfort? Not at all. My view is that all art should have that power. But I think there's a big difference between us lot playing a song that creates discomfort for either us or the audience, and the original performers doing the same. I suspect the difference is the the artist/entertainer distinction, the original performer was the former, while we are in real terms the latter.
  10. A mint condition, beautiful example of a Polish Handbuilt bass. This fanned fret bass is not like larger dingwalls or other fanned fret basses, the scale length is between 35" at the B and 33" at the G, this leads to a really comfortable play and a much more balanced string tension/output from each string. This bass has been gigged once (very lightly I may add) so there is not a scratch on it, its also recently been set up by the guys at The Bass Gallery and fitted with Elixir strings. Previously this exact bass was available from Bass Direct for £2200 so come and get yourself a bargin! Comes with Mayones Gig bag (IMO on par with my Mono vertigo case) I am only interested in a straight sale please, no trades. •Origin: Poland •Year: 2023 •Body Material: Ash •Colour: Dirty Ash Black Horizon •Finish: Satin •Neck Finish: Satin •Neck Material: Wenge/maple •Fingerboard: Ebony •Inlays: Side dots •Pickups: Aguilar •Electronics: Aguilar •Controls: Volume, pickup pan, bass, middle, treble, tone, active/passive switch •Frets: 24 •String Spacing: 18mm •Nut Width: 50mm •Scale Length: 35-33” •Weight: 4.5kg/9lbs14oz

  13. Here's my favourite workhorse bass, I played this one for a good couple of years until my neck/back issues reduced the weight I'm comfortable with down to 'something starting with a seven', so I just don't use her any more. A shame, because (and I say this as a massive P fanboi) it's a very well built P/J which simply does the job. The J pickup in particular is very strong...not that I ever used it (see 'massive P fanboi' above). I'm a tinkerer, so at one point she had another bridge and some Ultra-lites on her, but she's back to stock now (same bridge holes and just four very small holes behind the stock tuners where the Ultra-lites used to be)...one thing I never even thought about changing was the pickups; if you like a good passive P/J, they're it, frankly. She's strung with new D'Addarios. She weighs between 8 1/2 and 9 pounds, which is sadly out of my range these days. Condition is very good (tho she could do with a bit of a polish), I've tried to show the small dings/bruises and two tiny chips. I'd much rather meet up (I can drive 75 miles from Manchester to meet), but if I really have to post, let's say £20 and cross fingers.

  14. Just standard MIM pickups on a 1399 bass immediately puts me off. Too expensive.
  15. Don't worry, I'm sure the MiUSA prices will go up accordingly
  16. Lekato Transmitter/Receiver running 5.8Ghz, so well out of the problematic 2.4Ghz range. Fully working, you can run this one way from a mic to the desk (it's XLR connectors) or the other way round from the desk to a headphone amp like the Behringer P2. I've lost the dual USB charging lead, but they'll come with a single one, and they're ubiquitous these days (except in my house, apparently). Here's Lekato's blather, which focuses on the mic -> desk usage, but as I say they work great the other way round, too. https://lekatodeal.com/en-uk/products/wireless-5-8ghz-microphone-system-plug-on-xlr-transmitter-receiver £80-ish new now, so how about £55 pick up/£60 posted?
  17. Possibly - it was a reference to Pink Floyd and another Brick in the wall. The shouting teacher says it
  18. Certainly!!! We will have a broad set list but it's not going to go crazy, so no obscure b-sides for the beard-strokers, it's all got to be big hits that people will sing along to, no off-kilter genres like acid house... No disrespect to acid house of course, but it's quite niche compared to Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen. As for the image, the first question I got back from the guitarist when I messaged him about the band was "can we dress like Miami Vice?" The answer was a massive YES! I asked the sax/ keys guy if he would be up for dressing the part too and his response was "I can go to 80s theme nights wearing my ordinary clothes, I just roll the sleeves of my blazer up" said in a knowing tone that inferred he is very much 80s style in his ordinary clothes.
  19. That was mean! 😁
  20. WTAF ? is he a spy who really didn’t do the homework before going out on an assignment? 🤷‍♂️
  21. Pfft. saw a video today - they seem pretty much “closet classic” to which end… Charcoal Frost 😍
