Silky999 started following Oiled finish - advice appreciated

I use Liberon Finishing Oil which dries to a hard finish and hand sand it in. Depending how many coats you apply dictates the level of sheen from satin to a good gloss. I then wax, nitro or poly. This wenge and elm is just Liberon and nothing else and was only a couple of coats in at this point.

The Horse and Trumpet in Wigston has a really low ceiling. That makes it seem really loud. I had to back off the lows a bit, but once more the Rumble and Stingish bass sounded great. It was hot! I've put my fan up in the loft for the winter but might have to fetch it back down if it's going to be like that. We had people up dancing from the first song which was great. Lots of great comments too, my favourite being someone who told us that they keep coming to see us because we don't play Oasis, Dakota, Brightside, etc. Hooray!

How was your gig last night?
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to bassninja's topic in General Discussion
I'm in one of those dep musicians groups on FB. About a week ago and for the first time ever, I responded to a post asking for a bass player for very local gig at a venue I know. The guitarist sent me a list of 80 songs and I picked about 40 that I knew I could play without having to learn anything new. I turned up at the gig and we rattled through them like we'd played together for years. A not massive, but pleasantly entertaining pub crowd and we went down well. A weirdly liberating experience. Hopefully a gig or two more will come my way as a result. There was a really drunk guy in the audience who kept singing Naive by The Kooks at the top of his voice. It's not a bad song actually. Might have to learn that one. -

I guess the guy doing the photography did it for 'photogenic neatness'. The leads were still in that position when I collected it but, having reconfigured them, plugged it in and played it a little, it seems to be working fine' - nothing fried, no abnormal humming, no burning smells, nothing sounding scratchy. Of course it could all sound terrible tomorrow because...lets face it, I collected it strapped onto a sack truck and brought it home to Mcr on the bus/train, so...by the time it's cooled down and warmed up a few times it could be all over the place. -

"Unironic crabcore" and other obscure genres
Dad3353 replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
But it makes perfect sense, once unpacked. 'Crabcore'..? That's pretty obvious, from the contortions of some guitar players, crouching, limbs akimbo, playing their intense solo. OK, so some of these 'artists' are just showing some degree of Irony, so 'Ironic Crabcore' follows, logically. Imagine, though, if you can, some few players actually do play in this contorted fashion, with no sense of Irony whatsoever. It has to be called something; what better than 'UnIronic Crabcore'..? I don't see the problem. If 'Free Jazz' has any meaning, so, by the same token, has 'UnIronic Crabcore'. -

I can only guess at what type of music that might be, but I'm fairly sure I wouldn't like it. -
Line 6 Helix Rack boxed Silly Price Drop
fretmeister replied to johnbiffa's topic in Effects For Sale
Such a brilliant bit of kit. I've had mine since they were launched and I've never regretted getting it. It's the heart of my home studio. I know some people are holding out for the L6 Stadium - but so far they have no plans for a rack unit of it because they are unconvinced that a rack would sell as many this time round. The L6 main guy has said so repeatedly - and if it ever comes it will probably be £2000 + foot controller. So this is a real bargain.- 5 replies

It would, but you create an angle by stacking layers of thin shims of different lengths, so they add height at the bridge but not where the neck exits the body.

Being sadly bandless, I have been scouring ads on Gumtree and JoinMyBand for a possible bass role. I am staggered by the obscure genres of music, the existence of which I had previously had no knowledge, for which people are advertising. Sludge/doom I get (Black Sabbath etc), shoegaze fine (MBV etc) but crabcore? Especially "unironic crabcore". Really?
