How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
Richard R replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
I have spent the last few posts wondering why punk bands were playing a Donald Fagen song. Off to Spotify to find that UK Subs also have a song of that name - which makes a lot more sense 😄 @mikebass456 - a tenner if you open your set with this one: -
I’m having a big clear out of basses, strings and pedals. Pretty much anything that I am no longer going to be using so that I can reduce my collection to just 1 main bass, a back up and the pedals that I need. I have always loved single coil P basses but I am never going to have the opportunity to play this live so I may as well let it go to a good home. Used for 1 gig in 2023, it's pretty much in mint condition, right down to the fact that the plastic is still on the scratchplate. It also comes fitted with a set of Ernie Ball 2810 flats that I had already bought for a 5 string. Collection preferred but I am happy for you to arrange a courier as I have plenty of packaging materials to ensure that this is well packed.

I’m having a big clear out of basses, strings and pedals. Pretty much anything that I am no longer going to be using so that I can reduce my collection to just 1 main bass, a back up and the pedals that I need. Bought brand new earlier this year I think 🤔 this is a 2023 Fender Player Precision, going by the serial number, in Seafoam Green with Pau Ferro fretboard. I fancied a set of Bartolinis after watching a video with Freddie Washington so went the whole hog and paired them with a Six String Supplies prewired solderless harness. I wanted to have the option to return the bass to stock if needs be so I removed the original scratchplate with the pots still intact, even going as far as to remove the bridge to allow me to thread the earth wire through without having to desolder it. This is a replacement scratchplate that I bought for it. I also had a set of Hipshot Licenced Ultralites so fitted these as well. I don’t actually think it has left the house since I bought it and as such is in mint condition. Although it’s not one I’ve gigged, I am going to miss it. It’s such a stunning looking bass. The weight of this lovely bass is 8.2lbs. I have a few options depending on what the buyer wants: For the bass as you see it, along with the original tuners, pickups, scratchplate, case candy and a brand new gig bag I would like £600 £550 gets you either the Ultralites or the Bartolini pickup included – plus the gig bag and original parts depending on what option you go for. £500 for the bass returned to stock, still including the brand new gig bag.

I bought this immediately prior to taking a year out from playing so it's never seen a gig since I bought it and still has whatever flatwounds were on it when I bought it. I had one of these bass in the early 90s and fancied another. Plus it was a cheap way to remind myself that I'm not very good on fretless and to stop eyeing up other fretless basses on the marketplace 😂 It has marks here and there consistent with a 34 year old bass and the volume and tone controls are a bit scratchy but I never noticed any noise when playing, only if you let a note ring out and then turn those controls. I will be supplying a gig bag with this as it didn't come with one. Looking at all of the other basses I'm listing it looks like I must have bought a job lot of Thomann gig bags as they appear next to each bass 🤔😁 I think that this is the lightest bass I have coming up for sale at a positively featherweight 7.8lbs. Collection preferred but I am happy for you to arrange a courier as I have plenty of packaging materials to ensure that this is well packed.

Glad to hear it, John. Going to drop you an email about possibly ordering a couple of custom preamps - ever done a 4-band (with low/high mids)?

Well Saturday night being the first time I tried using the EV 12" sub didn`t go the way I thought it would. Due to the pub being in the centre of town unloading was a real pain and I had to move the car round into the multi storey so time was a bit tight for an 8pm start. I used the venues DBR 12`s along with my sub but as soon as everything was powered up, there was a loud rumble type feedback from the sub. My mic was in line about a foot away from the sub/top so it may have been coming from that but even when I turned down the sub volume the noise was still there. As I was in a rush I just turned the sub off and went full range with the speakers. The DBR`s didn`t get any feedback from my mic. I am thinking that possibly I didn`t have the sub connected right as it was very low down and beside the wall. It worked ok at low volumes in my home but I should have taken it down to the studio and spent some time on setting it up correctly so a lesson learned.

Thanks very much Blue, appreciate you taking the time to say so. We've had enquiries about a festival slot next month and a 2026 wedding at a very posh venue (it's been used as a film/TV set quite a bit) already, so hoping they both pan out.

gotcha... I need to use the effects send/return on the preamp/amps to make any signal chain or chains.

Maybe my favourite solid colour. 😍

Great songs, Tomorrows Girls particularly good for us bassists. -
Ah, I should have said, would have been good to see you. The band is Temptation Waits, we're on FB and all the gigs should be listed there. Got the summer off then at the Cherry Tree in Wishaw in August. Haven't been there since about 1994!

I'd more interested if the unit could handle a 2 ohm load. In this day and age I would have thought that an Amp Designer would consider that.

Got it 👍 Thanks a lot John,yes it's me ☺️

Up for sale is a pedal that's been a staple sound on my board for a long time. The Emma Okto Nojs is a very dirty/synthy pedal, and a whole plethora of synth tones can be had with this! Just add filter and Analog synth heaven. It's two pedals in one Octave - this is a very deep and plummy octave, it has a filter, so can go very deep to buzzy like a sawtooth wave, it does the OC2 thing well. It tracks very well, and has the internal "bass" setting, which i think helps a bit more. Fuzz- this Fuzz is in two parts, the first is a very dynamic synth Fuzz, with a subtle octave up sound as you play higher up. This sounds very similar to the 3 leaf you're Doom currently going for tons of money online, great for Moog like tones. It also has a fuzzy square wave tone an octave down, with a volume and colour (tone) so it can be used alone or in conjunction with the normal Fuzz sound. When Fuzz and octave are switched on together, they run in parallel for a cleaner more dynamic synth tones. It's in fantastic condition, with a pretty blue Octopuss orgy on the front, and with the original box. £100 incl UK only delivery

I trust the Guykers did the trick. (I bought some to check them out and found that mechanically they were fine, but finishes were very inconsistent.) Did you get a satisfactory outcome for active passive for your UNI 5K?

I have Instagram and Facebook accounts. As a retired photographer , bass player and amp nerd I put up pics. And the odd garden pic. Spend more time on Facebook than Instagram. The pics , except for the garden shots are just generally done with an IPad. https://www.instagram.com/scotbrownmorrow/ https://www.facebook.com/morrow.scotbrown

Good advice. I’m thinking I’ll try some nickels on it for a flatter response. I’m hoping it evens the sound out a bit too.
