  2. Furry Happy Monsters - REM
  3. For me, this is what I meant by the guy suggesting you should draw your own conclusions from the video. Without playing the pedal, its very hard to get a feel from what tracking and latency issues they may have, as what your eyes see or ears hear are only as important as how it responds to your attack.
  4. Thanks. I was really impressed when I picked it up.
  5. Ah latency and tracking are very much intertwined, so all good! Are there particular timestamps on the video you could helpfully point to for us, so we can get a better idea of what you are referring to?
  6. Some great bass playing by Dee Murray on a live Elton John album called 17-11-70. It was recorded when they were just a trio (Elton, drums and bass) in America really early on, so no big Elton hits yet, but some really fiery, tight interaction of the three instruments with plenty of room to explore.
  7. These are absolutely brilliant basses.
  8. Any one got some recommendations on a quality short scale Bass. I have been looking at the Serek Models but they appear to be very hard to get hold of.
  9. Tanglewood Dreadnought TW15NS guitar This Tanglewood Dreadnought guitar is a real quality instrument and has a Spruce top and mahogany sides which give it a wonderful warm but bright tone. It has a new set of D’Addario strings: phosphor bronze, which give a warm bright and balanced tone. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone The frets have been polished The neck has been treated with Lemon Oil so it’s clean and ‘fed’. It does have a scratch on the front just behind the bridge (pictured) No case and no trades thanks. Price when it was new was £499. 10. You know what, as limited and expensive as it is, I think it's really cool. Status are winding down, Ken Parker just passed away. Wood and screws is all well and good, but we're seeing less innovators so we should appreciate what they are doing just now. Maybe someone else will pickup the carbon fibre/graphite mantle in the near future....
  11. SX Jazz Bass: VTG series Stunning SX Jazz Bass VTG Handmade Series! Natural with black or white scratchplate (both supplied). 4 string. As new condition. Maple neck with white Mother of Pearl inlays. Bound neck, which I love. It is strung with flatwound strings at the moment which sound fantastic! I can change them to roundwound strings if you prefer. It’s been well set up. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone with a warm punch. Electrics work as they should with no nasty scratchy sounds from the pots. The frets have been levelled and polished and the intonation is spot on. It’s ready to rock! No case and no trades thanks. Happy to post at buyer’s expense. £200 Chaddesden, Derby All proceeds will go towards a charity for the homeless in Derby and a Home for street kids in Bogota, Colombia. 12. Thanks for starting this thread. Very timely for me! I've just started playing DB and have been recording a few bits on a handheld Tascam recorder as a practice aid. I'm currently getting a very "roomy" recording, so I'll experiment with some of the positioning and room control suggestions above to see if I can get better results.
  13. Black Fender P Player Bass with in beautiful condition. The Player series are a step up from the ordinary! Serial number MX18005295. June 2018 They say: There's nothing more classic than a Fender electric bass, and the Player Precision Bass is as authentic as it gets - genuine Fender style and the rumbling, seismic sound that spawned a thousand imitations. With its smooth playing feel and spotlight-ready style, this thunderous bass is ready to enter the studio or prowl the stage and help show the world your creative vision. It’s been well set up. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone with a warm punch. The electrics have been sprayed with Contact Spray, so they work as they should with no nasty scratchy sounds from the pots. The frets have been levelled and polished and the intonation is spot on. The neck has been treated with lemon oil so it’s clean and ‘fed’. Free postage No case £550 Chaddesden, Derby DE21 4JJ All proceeds will go towards a charity for the homeless in Derby and a Home for street kids in Bogota, Colombia.

  14. Darwin enters into it as well. The human ear is most sensitive in the frequency range of the human voice, the midrange, critical for communication that can be heard over background noise. That's especially important when the wife is calling you to dinner. Men who couldn't hear her calling were in big trouble when they finally showed up back at the cave, leading to a highly shortened life expectancy. As for damage, we are most likely to be hearing damaged by high level midrange. That's the reason why 'A' weighted sound level measurements, which filter out highs and lows, are specified for acceptable industrial noise levels. Most of us have experienced this. It's why after playing a set at high levels it seems like the volume has gone down, in response to which we turn it up. That can be a vicious cycle. Ask Pete Townshend, although his response is likely to be 'Sorry, mate, I didn't hear the question.' 🤫
  15. Perfect for those who have had to move to lightweight cabs--- a lightweight bass!
  16. Ozric Tentacles - Live Underslunky. Zia Geelani's bass playing on this album is kind of my ground zero. Peak Ozrics line up (imho). A corkin' live album.
  17. I'm not generally a fan of fancy wood tops but that's an absolute stunner.
  18. I've been dreaming of picking up the double bass for a long time, but had been writing it off for various reasons. So imagine my surprise when my wife organised this for a big birthday this week! Currently renting for a few months to see if we can live with it, but I now can't imagine a world without DB... it's so addictive and rewarding! It seems playing cello as a kid, and fretless bass for a long time has helped get me started, but there's so much to learn!

  19. Updated my previous post to correct - cheers @Al Krow
  20. With the caveat that hundreds of bass players have owned and loved this pedal… Tracking was the wrong word! I meant latentcy - I couldn’t live with the slight latentcy and thr attack of the thing - I don’t know how to describe it but it was a me thing, and I could hear it listening to a video so it can’t just be latentcy …
  21. Maybe, maybe. Surely I'm not the only one though - the one and only.
  22. This Way Upp by Upp. Stephen Amazing had every justification for choosing this monicker.
  23. That's sort of what I was getting. Plugged in to an amp it was ok, but plugged in to any FX box that's also plugged in to the mains I would get RF noise. Even my old Xvive U2 doesnt do that.
  24. Oh wow! Nate Navarro putting it through its paces... What an interesting bass. Sounds great.
  25. Today
  26. Lovely bass that, it’s mental how much bass you get for your money with these Sire’s!
  27. I now have said 12 string and this is now £400.
