Yup, that's exactly why the MXR has been so successful. Would be REALLY interesting if Panda changed direction fully and brought out something like the original Deep Impact crossed with the MXR, all the new tech, quality processing and tracking etc but with only a set number of parameters to mess with and all adjustable from the pedal. Get a decent influencer type on board and it'd easily be as successful as the MXR, perhaps less so now the MXR exists but it'd still do very well.

YouTube creators create A and B versions of titles and thumbnails to see which gets most attention. Maybe AI will do similar, or maybe it will the be humans' job to listen to tracks for quality control. Ultimately AI has no sensors or hormones to measure whether what they produce is working. Comedians and live musicians get instant feedback from audiences. Whether or not they listen to the feedback or not depends - there are plenty of artists who have spent years looking for audiences who 'get' them. 🤣

Yeah. I don’t quite understand that. Why would anyone still want to follow anything or anyone that’s been involved in paedophelia?

Sounds accomodating!!! I don't think I've ever tried a Warwick, certainly not a 5 string. It's totally on my list of lusted-after instruments...

Can I assume you're avoiding any BTB's with the far eastern Barts?

Trust me, having lost way too many beloved peple recently getting old sure as hell beats the alternative. AND with the whole small hands thing - when I started getting bombarded with videos of Ellen, a little girl absoutely tearing up a full-size bass, I thought I can't use that excuse any more! Dammit, at about 8 years old she could bearly reach both ends of the bass and had nailed down the whole of Sir Duke!!!!!! Gaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!

My Warwick Broadneck 5s with 20mm spacing I would say has spoilt me. Space and comfort for days (for me) while for some it's too much like playing on an aircraft runway. Great there's something for everyone out there 😀

Exciting stuff, I'm looking forward to the release! Crossing fingers that portamento on tracked notes made it into this one. Pleased so many of our suggestions on patches are on those lists - even though they're often variations on a theme from a synthesist's perspective, from a practical POV they cover a lot of useful ground.

I give up on Facebook and Instagram. AI has just made them even more irritating than they were before

Choose a 5 string bass for £500 (ish)

Great read ☺️ 👍 Apart from my old age issues affecting my ability to play, I feel I've smallish hands too - far from ideal for a bass player. And weight doesn't bother me either - I can only play sitting down - I've more problems, if its got a short lower horn - with the bl**dy thing siding off my leg! Being old is no fun 😠 -
I looked on the LowEnd Bass Shop at their 64, I’m pretty sure it’s the same bass , with the wear and chipped pickguard

For me it’s the imperfections or going where wouldn’t be expected that make music interesting, such as Cliff Williams playing C# in Back in Black when the guitars play A. Would AI choose to do this?

you go on another thread on here and people are still trying to nail Michael Jackson synth bass tones... people still have Gill Sans on their PCs...

As humans we get bored very quickly and thrive on new and exciting things. While AI just copies stuff that is already there, it'll get boring really quickly. Part of the attraction of any 'latest hit', is the anticipation of the next release and how will it be better than the last one. Scrolling through Facebook is losing attraction very quickly as it seems like huge AI farms, scraping posts and reposting as original content, have taken over. The cheaper the tech becomes, the harder it will become to find quality original content, we are already seeing this with every angst ridden teenager with access to garageband releasing an Album. It's a spiral to attract the Lowest Common Denominator, TV went down that route and YouTube is slowly following.

Well, it's just as personal as weight isn't it? I'm lucky in that it doesn't bother me how heavy a bass is. What I'd say about string spacing though is that I've owned an SR505 that had both narrow string spacing AND a slim neck and while I could play it very quickly, I just could not pick or slap on it. I've got an OLP Tony Levin 5-string now and though I'm pretty sure that has the same 16mm spacing I find it much easier to play with a pick or slap so I sometimes wonder if the numbers tell the whole story (much more of a C shape than a D). Mind you, the Dingwall I now own is actually quite a struggle for me to play with my small-ish hands but I like it so much I've spent years developping my technique. If I went by specs and what was sensible I'd play a medium scale bass but I like my Dingwall and I will keep plugging at it till I get it right!

Scarily easy as I've just figured out! https://suno.com/s/jhB0dYxxVH2FlFhW Another nail in the coffin for aspiring originals artists hoping to "make it", just as streaming has already proved to be? I suspect that where the industry is heading could well be similar to where classical music has ended up with performers, in our case covers and tribute bands, being custodians of a vast library of music that is already much loved; with occasional new material to sit alongside the great songwriters and composers of the past: read ABBA to Zeppelin for Bach to Stravinsky. The Times They Are A-Changin'...
