  2. Selling my Caveman Audio BP1 Compact from my current pedal board. In absolutely mint condition with all original packaging. I also have a brand new unused 12v dc adapter to run the pedal from if you don't have a board power supply. An incredible preamp with an oh so sweet secret sauce for your tone. You can see from the photo I have the main input from my bass go in to the Caveman which then sends my signal around all my pedals in an FX loop with the signal re entering the pedal and then going out through the XLR. The tuner is also given it's own tuner out output keeping it isolated from your chain if needed. Official blurb here; BP1 Compact crams the essence of our beloved BP1 Bass Preamp into a compact stompbox format and you get the core tone and extremely low noise level at almost half the size – and price! BP1 Compact and the original BP1 Bass Preamp sound very similar, yet each has a sonic flavour of its own. Which one you prefer comes down to taste and preference. We like to think if them as to distinct flavours of sonic greatness – and there is definitely a place for both. BP1 Compact adds that critical definition in the low-mid part of the sound, making your bass sit in the mix with ultimate definition and tons of dynamics. With the transformer-balanced, studio-quality DI, you will no longer have to use low-quality DI’s at venues that make your bass sound dull, two-dimensional and uninspiring. The FOH engineer will love your bass signal, and the crowd may not know why, but they’ll love the huge – yet firm and defined – low end that is the foundation the overall experience builds upon. But perhaps most important of all, you will have the bass tone of your dreams on the stage, ensuring that you can focus entirely on those solid grooves, tasty bass lines and simply making everyone else sound their best. This is a no-brainer pedal with Gain and Level controls. Simply plug your bass into BP1, trim the Gain and Level to fit your taste, and experience the mind-blowing tone this unit has to offer. In fact, we bet that once you have set it, you will just leave it on at all times, as it will simply enhance your core tone at the most fundamental level. We also added Tuner Out and a patch-point (send/return) in case you use additional stompboxes or other external equipment. The patch-point is placed after the input buffer – but before the preamp section. To make your gigging life even easier, we designed BP1 Compact to run on 12VDC – perfect for your pedalboard. - More photos to follow. £395 posted in original packaging and the brand new 12v dc adapter. Many thanks,

  5. I have the fretless version. Bought it a few years ago. Absolutely love it. My favourite out of the five fretless basses I own. Such a pity Vintage never did a 5 string version.
  6. Hello mate, I'll take it, can you do £50 incl postage? Cheers, James
  7. The Fallout Tribute at the top of the page - that's mine Stock D'Addario ETB92, which they describe as Medium Gauge, 50,65,85,105 - nice tension I find, figures are on the website; they do do a s/s set, same thicknesses I have tried both Status and Rotosounds previously, didn't like them, the Status were lifeless and the Rotos ring sharp on the initial attack before settling back to tune, really messed my ear up as a learner, I later found out from Scott Whitley its a known issue with some s/s strings
  8. My son had this on the other day, pretty good stuff ,and I’ve added it to my to play list

    De-Fret??

Sorry for the radio silence, not been up to much last few days. Currently looking for a second hand BBNE2 to buy and send off for defretting. Then I have one of each.

  12. Yes very wise words. However, knowing the gear I have out in my little studio means even on the days I have too much pain to get out of bed, I know for example I have the best strat style guitar I have ever played and a 0.5watt point to point hand wired amp and 8 inch hemp speaker in a cab I made myself, means I CAN get the best SRV guitar tone I have ever heard reproduced by anyone that isn’t SRV himself and it’s not gonna blow your eardrums inside out. I not boasting, I just saying that years of trawling through gear had led me to my holy grail of guitar tone and when I am ill, as I have been for the last week or so with a flare up of this stupid illness, I can think of my gear waiting for me and it makes me happy, so far from a fleeting impulse of happiness it is long lasting. I should have given a bass example but a lot of guitarists that are into SRV say it’s impossible to recreate his tone but it isn’t. Took me about 3 years of buying and selling stuff to find the right combination and also playing technique, and I always made a loss when selling cabs and amps but it has kept me happy, at least it stopped me topping myself, which has gotta be money well spent 😁
  13. Hi Everyone - A big HELLO from California! I was involved in the bass community in the 80's & 90's as the former national sales manager for Trace Elliot and Status, manager of The Bass Centre in L.A. from '86-'93 & was the Trace Elliot and Hamer product specialist for the western U.S. from '93-'97. For the last few years I've been creating YouTube videos about rare Rickenbacker basses (the 4005 & 4002,) and recently posted the video "The 80's Bass Decade!" which is a comprehensive look at why the 80's decade was so special for bass players. Im glad to be here! Chris

  15. The Bart’s probably did actually as I didn’t cycle or train as much. Never thought of that lol. You are right the omns is only 9.2k (I’ll check what mine is when I get a chance) but how the pickup reacts with the basses wood combo is more important. With chromes it’s extremely dynamic in touch and also where I pluck the string. My original pickups read around 7k. I’m playing through a genzler Magellan 350 with 10” array cab. Style is funk, rnb, fusion jazz and melodic soloing stuff. This bass + Bart’s loves flats and tape wounds. Melodic chord phrasing is dream like. My goal was to get a paul Jackson tone so I feel the 8s will help. I also possibly should get a bass that suits chord melodic soloing playing, seems like that is the direction I’m going. It could also be that the nickel strings I use aren’t complimenting. What I do know is that I like the tone of Bart pickups. Tone all the way off on the p bass isn’t muddy at all. Articulate, creamy highs even when you Dig in. Smooth smooth tone. I do think Bart 8cbp suit rounds.
  16. I Had LaBella 'Stang nylons on my JMJ for about 6 months. They were brighter than I was expecting (only did a handful of gigs with them in fairness). I changed them back to LaBella flats mainly because the bass is more sensitive to hum and it doesn't ground through the strings.
  17. That was done to save amps from being cooked by impedance loads that players employed because they didn't know better. I will confess to having done that, running 2 ohm loads with Fender amps that wanted no less than 4 ohms. But that was the '60s, we did all sorts of weird things then and managed to survive, and those Fenders were built like a Centurion tank.
  18. Just to add, the FS-7 has a box, but the GT1K Core doesn't. Will be securely packaged for posting.
  19. Not really. The only time it might is if your amp is so underpowered that it can't drive the 8 ohm speaker to it's full displacement, which would be rare, like with a 25 watt amp and a 200 watt speaker. A 4 ohm 15 makes some sense if it's paired with a 410, or even a 210, to get the sensitivity of the 15 high enough to match well with the 210/410. But then you'd need a 2 ohm capable amp, not to mention the inherent flaws of mixing speakers. Oops! I did mention it. 😲
  20. Maybe something historical to do with valve heads/amps going to 2 ohms so you could use 2 4ohm cabs?
  21. Same here - had a 4ohm 4x10 for years which could never be paired with anything else - managed to find a buyer eventually and now stick to 8ohm cabs only (or at least I did until IEMs killed the joy of playing through a stack).
  22. Excellent pedal, and on for a very good price too! GLWTS

  25. Re-release version. It’s been used, so isn’t pristine but works fine. Velcro on the base. No original box.

  26. Just ordered a Tech 21 Oxford preamp/drive pedal from Reverb, to a price I couldn't resist. I already own 2 Joyo Oxford Sound, bought the latest one recently, as a backup, cause it is a pretty essential part of my basic setup. Got the Oxford used for what basically was little more than 2 Joyo clones from new. I hope it doesn't sound too different from the Joyo though, one can hope even greater, and this one got a cab sim on/off switch, and I know it will be quiter and much more sturdily build. It is this little fella' : So looks rather used, but I don't really mind, and says it works perfectly. Let's face it though, the Tech 21 Oxford is not a pretty pedal, no matter wear, and the Joyo clone looks much cooler.
