  2. Why take two basses when you only need one?
  3. Charcoal frost - phwoar! Puts head in hands and repeats - '2 p basses is enough, 2 p basses is enough, 2 p basses is enough'
  4. Saw them live on Saturday night, alongside Spread Eagle (whose bass player is also in UFO).
  5. Does anyone know if the string tension of Harley benton 40-95 rounds are similar to Thomastik flats 43-100? I currently have HB rounds on my bass, fancy a change from rounds to flats, but don't want to adjust the truss rod if possible, as it's accessed at the heel on my fender, making it a bit of a fuss to mess around with.
  6. Okay, I’ve taken strings out ( well done 👏) ,and had a look at the saddles etc. I also put strings in the relevant nut slots ( leaving the G and E strings off the bass). From what I can see , it looks like I’d be able to have a 5 string set on there omitting the G . Putting the strings back on is a pita , so they are left off . I’ve left a message with a tech at my nearest shop ,asking if it’s possible for them to fit a 5 string set on the bass. I await their reply by phone . The shop don’t do Warwick strings , but I’d assume that with the techs filing and endurance and experience they will be able to fit a set of dadarrios on there .
  7. I don't have a digital caliper to measure it with such exact precision. But I imagine those specifications can be found on the Fodera website.
  8. Hi John, hopefully someone with the light will get back to you but I've found all the lights I've had in the last ten use use a very similar protocol as @Woodinblack says. The menu button simply cycles through the options. Sound is usually Soun but on some of mine it is just Sn )and could be something else too I suppose. confusingly some of my lights have Sn as sensitivity) pressing 'Enter' should take you into the sub menus and one of the menu options will be sound but maybe not labelled as such. Check the battery on the remote, I've had ones dead on arrival, they are usually a 3V lithium button cell CA2032 or CA 2016
  9. Is 'too much preamp' fair, given at least some of that is design. There are purely passive basses, passive basses with some control over gain and cut of two or three audio ranges (possibly Sadowsky, I can't really remember to be honest, but certainly perhaps a Precision with an East P-Retro circuit), and basses who's output is probably more a function of the circuit than of the otherwise passive instrument housing it, which in my experience would be Wal, Status, and EBBM. Whether with the latter you hear to much of the preamp is a horses for courses question perhaps?
  10. Big and heavy!!!
  11. Agreed, the price of a Nordymute is just silly for what it is. And still I bought two I've got one with 19mm spacing and one with 17mm spacing. I agree a triangular shape would have been massively better! I put mine on at an angle for that reason, but then it's not very firmly attached. They're a ton of fun though!
  12. Glorious amp, loud for its size, and as above, the post power stage DI means that while it won't hold it's own on a noisy stage, you can get that same tone through the PA. I kinda wish I'd kept mine especially when I'm lugging several hundred watts of all-tube amp around 👍
  13. All is well that ends well, returns are postage free and eBays returns couldn't be simpler. Interestingly the controller, which is what actually arrived, was still described as a light on the return form! What I got was in fact a nice little 192channel DMX controller identical with the one I already have, and I paid double the price for mine around 5 years ago. If you wanted a DMX controller I wouldn't hesitate. The stock was posted from a warehouse in Staffordshire so was genuinely UK stock. I've ordered things before which were advertised as UK stock but were delivered by China Post. I'm inclined to treat this as a genuine error upon reflection. There was no option to order the controller when I clicked on it but the drop down has been updated. The ad is misleading in that there is still no mention of the controller last time I looked on the Ad but it is clear on the drop down now. I'm pretty careful about small print and it did seem too good to be true but I searched for a catch and didn't find one. Can't fault eBay this time.
  14. … I’ve got one at home sitting on the pedal shelf. I’ll have a look later for you, I suppose it would depend on how much gain you have on the low and high settings? Presumably the effect bypassed would be the same as using the low and high gains fully off?
  15. Sold pending the usual. Apologies if I missed any messages

  17. I have this BT-1 unit that I never even took out of the box. I have fitted these in Stingrays for years, this is a direct replacement until they changed their design in 2018.
  18. Just weighed it with my luggage scales, looks about 3.8 kg.
  19. I'm looking for a Cab cover for a Markbass MB58R 102 but the Markbass and Roqsolid ones cost nearly £100 which seems a bit steep to me being about 20% of the price of the new cab for something that is only really thick enough to stop cosmetic scrapes and keep the rain off when going from car to gig (they don't seem to offer much real protection to things like being bashed or dropped). Anyone aware of cheaper options (like a big paddleboard bag or storage bag), or success with a DIY option?
  20. Analog cab simulation, very tweakable, includes adjustable HPF, EQ, it works as a headphone amp, and with TS and balanced XLR outputs. Great condition, just a bit dusty...
  21. My go-to is the Softube Bass Amp Room suite. It is limited to an SVT clone, a retro solid state thing (which isn't great) and some kind of overdrive amp (which again isn't great). Only the SVT is actually useable but it is seriously good because it is easy to use and understand. The downside is that there is no dedicated bass amp overdrive which I think would be solved with a plugin version of the Agro pedal which I owned for about a decade. I tried some Brainworx/Plugin Alliance, Bias FX and Amplitube sims but never really go on with them. I like the idea of the Helix but I think it would just present me with too many options. I really like Aguilar kit, so this is tempting.
  22. Hi Mike payment made Phil
  23. One of the best tracking octavers I've tried. Usual OCT1/OCT2 plus blend. Great condition.
  24. eBay made a big thing about making listings free, so they got rid of fees on transactions and then added a manditory buyer protection fee, that the seller pays, that was higher than the fees in the first place. Means all the prices look stupid and it is not clear that when you make an offer to someone for say £100, it comes through to the seller as 'they made an offer of £87.32'
