  3. Vol, Vol, Tone, with tone pot wired to pull up to switch between series/parallel. It’s monster!
  4. Genuine Q. What did I miss here? Are these very good value? Why would these appeal beyond one of the Sterling/ Sub/Ray34 or whatever they're called these days?
  5. [sfx] gear is absolutely top notch and the support is fantastic, although it's extremely unlikely that you'll need any.

  7. Possibly in the wrong place ? @Woodinblack
  8. My bad ! It is of course a maple neck ! Apologies, it’s corrected.
  9. Many thanks for replying and explaining 'things'. I apologise for not making my question clearer regarding how well the fretless G3 rated compared with similar instruments in the same class. I didn't know whether you still owned the fretless model in the photo. I simply asked how it compared based on the assumption that you would have played it avidly at some point and I was curious to know your thoughts. I too have moved from 4's to 5's but also from fretted to fretless. Personally, I'd always set my sights on a Sei which I thought I'd probably end up buying secondhand from the Bass Gallery. When I saw your Gus Fretless it stopped me in my tracks and got me thinking......🤔 I suppose ultimately I'd aspire to a Pentabuzz but could never see me locating/affording a 5 string one. Once again, thank you very much for the photos and information. Very much appreciated 🙏
  10. This is the first time that I have dealt with an active preamp. I bought a pre wired 2 band preamp for my jazz bass originally. But, decided to install it in my generic P bass instead. I couldn't find the right wiring diagram on Google or anywhere I looked online. I was wondering and hoping if anyone on here to help me out with my bass? You got a wiring diagram that would be amazing. This preamp has a master volume that is an 1 mega ohm audio taper pot. A bass & trouble cut there are B-50 killaohm pots, and a MN250K blender pot. I would greatly appreciate it? If anybody can help me figure out this wiring! P.S. instead of having this PB split called pickup connected. I know him two single coil pickups. I'm going to upload pictures of my preamp and the wires a little cock eyed. Any help would be truly appreciated especially if there's a wiring diagram or some other type visual along with everything. The first picture is of my pickups and the blend pot. The second picture is the bass and treble cut. Along with the brand module. I would also like to add either spdt or D PDT switches., I have a dpdt slide switch, and spdt mini toggle on off on switch. Lastly the output Jack is a mono stereo Jack. I kind of have an idea on how to connect all the wires and make it work right. Cuz the other day I had her completely together. I was testing the preamp out. Two different amps

The synth player in my band mixes all our recordings on a pair of KRK Rokit speakers which allow him to get some excellent sounding mixes and which to me seem reasonably small - although my last set of studio monitors were Tannoy Gold 10" dual-concentrics so my idea of sizes might be a bit skewed. As I said in the recent headphones thread, the most important thing about whatever speakers you choose is that you spend a serious amount of time listening to recordings you know and like through them so you get to know their strengths and weaknesses and then can use them to make objective decisions about your own recordings.
  12. Don't lie... you're clearly breeding those mechanical spider things from War Of The Worlds and this is a baby one that accidentally got photographed in the reflection of your mirrored scratch plate. This is exactly the reason why I don’t have mirrored scratch plates.

  15. MXR M85 bass distortion. Great distortion pedal in good condition. Velcro on the bottom. £90 delivered. Any questions just ask 👍
  16. Thank you. As I said in a previous post I don't own the fretless any more, partly because I no longer play 4-string basses (the basses I'm currently playing are all 5-string or Bass VIs) and partly because fretless doesn't suit the current musical path that I am following. It was a great instrument to play, but I struggled to get the sorts of fretless sounds I wanted out of it which was mostly Japan-era Mick Karn. All three of the other high-end fretless basses I owned at the same time - Overwater Original, Pedulla Buzz and Sei Flamboyant were much more suitable for that. Having said that it did get used at quite a few gigs and made it on to a couple of recordings that have been released. I believe the current owner has strung it with flat-wound strings which suit the bass better. I still own the two fretted Gus basses because they are the perfect instruments for me in terms of playability, sounds and looks. I also have a Gus G1 guitar. I couldn't see myself selling any of them. If I found myself needing a fretless bass in the future I'd be looking for a Pedulla Pentabuzz.

Or look at Adam's offerings... Had mine for a few years and they're very neutral. This bundle is £509: https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Adam-T8V-Studio-Monitors-with-Stands-Pair/526L
  18. I want to work on my knowledge of modes so I can do double the amount of widdley-wooing.
  19. My new TE1200 arrived yesterday and I quickly tried it and was reminded how great it sounds and easy to get good sounds out of it I’m liking the pre shape slightly scooped tone and adding a bit of low mids using the EQ sounds awesome Now I’m not sure if using the dual compressor is better Pre EQ or Post ? I think Pre sounds better and tames the low end boom nicely but curious what other uses have decided to use and why ?
  20. We’re putting the finishing touches to our newest (9th?) album which we hope to release in the spring. The documentary that has been being produced by a Dutch filmmaker will be released in the spring too. The producer is hoping and expecting us to play several gigs to promote that. Currently I think we only have 2 gigs in the diary (in Italy) and they’re not until October. We have had zero editorial input to the documentary so we have no clue what story they’re telling. They’ve followed us for 3 or 4 years and in that time there hasn’t been any drama, so I really don’t understand their angle. The film will be followed by a double live album which was recorded a couple of years ago in Rotterdam and is being released by the film producer. Despite all this assumed exposure I am fully expecting to be as obscure and penniless in 12 months time as I am today.
