  1. Past hour
  2. I kinda agree about his tone with those strings but Im pretty sure given the way he leads the band he wouldnt have the stamina to use anything heavier... could be wrong but thats my take. Anyway great to see him still at it.... legend.
  3. Just found this too. A ltd Custom Shop 50th Anniversary reproduction of the very 1st Spector model - the SB1. Reasonable price for custom shop too.... I have an original 1976/77 one so not so bothered, but very cool nonetheless! This is the shape that Gene Simmons of KISS had the horns sharpened on and painted black with a white border and it became his main bass through the late 70's (KISS Alive II etc). https://dshowmusic.com/spector-limited-custom-shop-sb-1-bass/
  4. Warwick Streamer LX 5 wanted
  5. Hils have let me down with my pickguard order. Nearly a 3 month wait and it wasn't included in the Anderton's shipment.☹️ Anderton's are trying to make up for it by sending me one off a bass they have in for refurb but it may not be perfect. I suppose if not I can use it as a template and get one made. Disappointing.
  6. Here's my full video review of the Hornburg Dual Parallel Drive/Fuzz Pedal by @Goliath_FX based here in Blighty! What a corker!! https://www.bassgearmag.com/goliath-effects-hornburg-dual-parallel-drive-fuzz-pedal/ Please like and share the video - I'd also really appreciate it for some positive comments on the YouTube video itself, as it helps me to know if you wanna see more!
  7. I don't want it 'aged' though. 😞
  8. A decent Antex soldering iron isn't that expensive - don't be tempted by the cheap ones on Amazon, they really aren't worth it. Get yourself a decent ring of solder, sponge and stand and get plenty of practice. Start with some cheap jack leads, get used to how long it takes for the iron to get to the right temp and melt the solder. Cheap it clean and you will soon have the knack. A decent helping hand with magnifying glass is also useful and can be had quite cheap. Definitely worth a go.
  9. Not sure where you live, but last time I was in Andertons they had some HILS in the store to try out

  12. Thanks, Mokl. I was running two as a vertical stack – best live sound I've ever had!
  13. The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred. Here comes the science bit… Type: 2-way closed, shelf speaker Colour: Ash black veneer Dimensions: 490 x 236 x 303 mm (H x W x D) Weight: 7.8 kg Recommended amplifier power: 30-150 W Frequency response: 70 - 20,000 Hz (±2 dB) Crossover: 2500 Impedance: 4 Ohm
  14. Need!!!
  15. I think that was the SGR800 LE. I had the SGR1000 too.
  16. Well guys, after much consideration I've opted for the Halon, I'll let you know when I receive it. Looks like a really good bridge, we will see...
  17. Beautiful - always wanted one of these when I saw a pic of Chris Squire using one decades ago!! Sadly a bit too dear unless I can offload a couple of other basses!
  18. I don't listen to enough Otis Rush and need to rectify that!
  19. They're my favourite string. I used to use DR nickels, I loved the warmer tone of SunBeams, but also the feel and bite of the Nickel LoRiders, Newtone, at least the hex nickel ones seem to sit firmly between the two sonically to my ear, and they last a long ol' time.
  20. I’ve used their guitar and resonator strings but never bass. Might check them out.
  21. Absolutely, we all have our preferences! I just found the 'pop' and pick sounds on the D & G strings to lack the body that the reverse config (and jazz basses in general) produces. Which aligns with why many favour the reverse P. I think the examples would have been better presented with a improved "amp" tone, but I suppose he was just trying to demonstrate quickly. I think I did spot a video on his page about jazz bass 60's and 70's spacing, so that definitely makes a difference too. - but I suppose ultimately, like anything on a bass, is whether or not its something that is important to the player - lightweight tuning keys, gold encrusted knobs.. or just a buzz free fretboard! ... see you in the rabbit hole, i'll bring biscuits!!! 😃
  22. Thanks - pity bit of a trek from sunny Frinton On Sea!
  23. That's what makes it so bloody great 🙂
