  1. Past hour
  2. If he's 20 but with a face relic'd to look 70 with a file and screwdriver then I may accept that his guitar is acceptable.
  3. It puts me right off buying a vintage instrument.
  4. Me too! I/ve tried about a dozen different compressors over the years and have finally settled on the Briggs Diamante optical compressor. I too play fretless almost exclusively and it's great for tightening up the tone.
  5. Jorja Smith's live rendition of "Teenage Fantasy" at Glastonbury 2025. Basslines are always so much more interesting in live versions.
  6. The thread title is not what you think it should be, IMO
  7. Hi all, I'm looking for some kind of power module like in the photo further below, but one that I can connect to my power supply's 18v 'Boss style' input (orange input seen here) I've been using a Palmer PWT12 supply for a few years, fairly inexpensive compared to the likes of Cioks and Strymon but still good quality, no noise etc. Unfortunately the mains cord is dying. I've had it repaired a few times but it just gets worse with time and I'd rather not risk blowing my pedals. It doesn't seem possible to buy the mains cord by itself. Rather than replace the whole supply, I wondered if I could get something like in the picture below. A power module that I can position on the edge of my board and connect to the supply itself. Does anyone know of anything that might be suitable? I can only seem to see IEC-to-EC cables like this one. Cheers
  8. Came like that from the factory. They’re called Road Ready (RR)
  9. I’d be surprised if it was any more than money laundering with the Serbs (I.e. not sex/drugs etc. I’d hope). There is a deeper story regarding the ‘Italian Heist’ that got them convicted floating around, but I’m not sharing it, so I’ll just say it was nothing more sinister than money related. But again, there are so many stories floating around about people in the trade you’re right that it’s hard to know what to believe.
  10. When you look at the Denmark St Guitars website, the multitude of authentic blackguards, original custom colour and prototype Strats, genuine paisleys and completely legitimate celebrity owned guitars leads you to only one conclusion. One can only be in awe of their ability to consistently track down and secure for sale such a stellar and market-leading selection.
  11. Well, if they've been clean for the entire year up to now, I don't see why not. But you can't come in now having already bought gear in 2025 and claim to be abstinent...
  12. I started bass when I was 12, mainly to annoy my older brother who was 15 and had just started on guitar. We’d been inspired by some older teenage friends whose band we saw at TSB Rockschool in Porthcawl. My brother used to get stuff from the record library - Kiss, Iron Maiden and Motörhead - which we listen to with our school friends (one who had an unwanted Kay bass). I got my own bass - a godawful short scale Satellite bass - in the summer of 1986. I’d wanted drums but didn’t have money or space. Fast forward 39 years and I’m still going. Less into metal these days, more into a broader range of stuff and play acoustic guitar too to a very decent level (though jazz and country still don’t float my boat). Playing music has been a constant companion and self-soothing method throughout my life. If id realised back then i’d have spent more time learning it properly in the first place but there you go.
  13. Boogie made two versions. The Diesel cabs were the usual black vinyl, while the Road Ready series were effectively built into flight cases that had a removable front.
  14. Where it's warm.
  15. Fits a 2EQ or 3EQ Stingray with truss rod wheel, so approx 1990-2018. Made by the people in California that produced the original EBMM matte black pickguards back in the 90s / 00’s, this is one I custom ordered a few years ago. But my bass is now HH so I have a similar replacement. It’s got some scratches, as pictured, but you don’t want a shiny new pickguard on your 30 year old instrument right? 😊 £40 collected, or I can post via Royal Mail at cost.
  16. Quite enjoyed checking these out 😊 Mine’s really simple. Under the desk is my headphones bass practice pedalboard, guitar pedalboard, and MacBook and Scarlett which i record stuff just for fun using headphones.
  17. Probably not. I hereby declare myself ineligible for any and all prize money, gifts, or even the vacation in Aruba😟
  18. I've heard of worse things than counterfeit guitars/amps from people in the trade about the Harrisons, but it's all anecdotal and you have to wonder how reliable these people are themselves. At the same time, I'm guessing that most Serbian gangsters would want more from a working relationship than a percentage of the proceeds of a stolen guitar, so perhaps there's something to it.
  19. Due to my other amp dying I had to get an amp for last night's gig. I got the Bugera delivered on Thursday, so no time to try it out with the band. Set it up at the pub we played at, Sire V7 with a Fender 210 cab. All 4 of us in the band just went "that sounds good". Great clean tone with barely any adjustments. So easy to use out of the box. It's light and feels very well put together. The sockets feel firm, especially the speaker cable connection. On my Peavey the speaker socket was always a bit awkward to get the connector to twist. The control knobs feel a little less robust, but not awful. It doesn't come with a carry bag, but for an amp that costs just £230 it's really no problem. I've commandeered a laptop bag. The onboard dual band compressor sounds better than my cheap pedal. There are plenty of tonal options with the eq section. I especially like the midrange selector. The DI seems really good. FX loop connection. Headphone and aux in. Very impressed.

  20. Just picked up a 2x12 from a nice chap on Freecycle. He owned it for 50 years. Guessing It’s not for bass, but the square-back magnets made me think of Ampeg B15s! Googling yields no results. Will pop the back off to see if there’s any information on the drivers, but anyone know anything about these cabs?
  21. Wow, deja vu all over again. . . . I gigged a Mesa Boogie 400+ (then an Ampeg SVT 3 PRO) into a Road Ready 210EV and Road Ready 115EV for many years. What a great sound. Then my back gave out and I've been hurting ever since!! I have mixed feelings about that rig, but I miss that sound.
  22. A compact stomp box in great condition, with case and instructions. I like this particular pedal as it is nice and stable and doesn't slide around. Great for open mics and songwriting.

  23. A Basschat Mini-Meet. What a great idea! Love the Mesa road ready rig, thats proper room filling bass amplification imho 🙂
  24. I love the look of those speaker cabs. Is that how they came from the factory, or have they been 'ruggedised' ?
  25. A good usable mixing desk for small bands. Bought used and comes with a power supply Can collect or will post at cost The blurb The Yamaha MG102c 10-channel compact mixer puts big-mixer quality into a handy and affordable small format! Many real-world mixing applications only involve a few channels, so a small mixer is the obvious choice. But no matter how simple the setup, you'll always want first-rate audio quality and processing capability. The MG102c is ideal for live sound applications, offering excellent sound quality, flexibility, and ease-of-use, along with some advanced features you normally wouldn't find in this type of compact mixer. So whether you need a compact main mixer, or a secondary utility mixer for a larger application, the MG102c is a great choice. It features great sounding low noise mic pre’s with phantom power, and very musical 3 band EQ, plus stereo inputs, Aux send/return and LED bargraph metering. This unit is in perfect condition, fully operational, with PSU and original packaging. Only used in a smoke free, private studio, never gigged. The Yamaha MG102C is a very lightweight compact mixer with simple controls. The Yamaha MG102C features four mic/line channels (two with compression) and two stereo line channels, one auxiliary send, and basic channel EQ.
