  2. All prices include postage to the UK. Cut for a sire V5R (four in line): LaBella Deep Talkin’ 760FS with no E string (45, 65, 85). Handy for spares as LaBella don't sell singles of these. £30 D'Addario XL. Two sets, both either 45-105 or 45-100. £10 Cut for a Stingray (short G string): Ernie Ball Super Slinky (45-100) £10
  3. Two lightly used EMG TBTW pickups, with all originally provided parts, cables, etc. and original packaging. In full working order. These contain both a jazz and a humbucking pickup, with a push-pull knob to switch between the two. The jazz is hum cancelling with a phantom coil when in use. I had these in a 70s jazz spacing, and the switching between different pickup types plus the normal jazz-style volume-volume-tone gives a nice variety of tones. https://www.emgpickups.com/tbtw.html £70 each or £130 for the pair, posted to the uk. Contact me for postage elsewhere.
  4. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  5. I'm lucky to have one of these..... absolutely brilliant cab....can't see me ever changing it.....and this is a really generous price.

  7. On top of Wylde's questionable tone, I'm sure he was playing the riff to Walk incorrectly. Planet Caravan sounded totally wrong as well.
  8. Reposted - Thought it may have regained a use, but the slot has been taken by another! Second chance!
  9. These are two great records. Chuck Rainey is the sound I want and the notes I wish I could play. Just a super player.
  10. I got a Mod Shop Jazz. It’s great. Sure, it will be disappointing if you’re looking for a tailor-made spec, but seen as a modern take on the old ‘custom colour’ options of the 1960s it’s pretty good. Price isn’t a huge markup compared with list (no dealer discount, of course). It took more or less as long as they said it would to arrive, no hidden costs and build quality was as good as I’ve seen on a Fender. I’m happy.
  11. Is that an 8 string bass?
  12. Obviously you could hear Rob during the For Whom The Bell Tolls intro, etc, but otherwise I found his tone a bit indistinct... kinda blurred into the guitars. Rex was playing his fretless Spector during Planet Caravan, and it had a nice deep tone. The Pantera set was spoiled by Wylde's frankly horrendous guitar sound though - sounded like it was being played through a crappy Bluetooth speaker. I forgot about Mike Inez - he always sounds good, although he was using maybe a little more distortion than was necessary. That Would? intro sounded fuzzy.
  13. Sounds like a grounding issue
  14. These are very deceptive - and very loud - amps. Don''t think for a momentt that they are in any way... er... elfin.
  15. Here we have a Yamaha BB2004 in excellent condition (9.781 out of 10). The only blemishes are as small abrasion on the underside of the fretboard close to be body which is barely noticable and a couple of small chips to the end of the headstock that could probably be rendered invisible with a black Sharpie pen (see pics). The Yamaha preamp has bass, treble, and what I would describe as a midrange sculpting control. I've always managed to find the tones I like. Its got a great piano like sound and I find it very comfortable to play as it has a smallish body. I'm very much in two minds about selling this as I love it but I want to thin the herd and standarise on 5 string basses. Buy before I change my mind! Weight is a very reasonable 4.3Kg (9ib 7oz). I can meet up in London or West Kent/East Sussex for a £10 contribution to travel expenses or buyer pays and arranges courier (and assumes the risk). .
  16. The shelf! I had an Explorer bass, am well acquainted with the shelf. It's surprisingly comfortable.
  17. Actually, I have no problem with the St Anger drums. They suit that album perfectly. It's his "normal" slappy sound I dislike.
  18. I’ve started wearing it down under the g string as my pinky seems to drag which is something I’ve never noticed before until this bass 🤣
  19. Yes, an actual Kay. Not mine, just saw it on Reverb. I have an almost identical one. https://reverb.com/uk/item/90553106-kay-3-4-double-bass-m-2-restored-very-rare-in-the-uk-cover-and-pickup-included
  20. I actually like the St Anger drum sound. Better than that boring sound he used on the latter albums.
  21. Hi In my quest for the best "always on" overdrive the bass tube screamer has come to my attention. As someone who always boosts a good 10db on my low and high mids I think this pedal could be a good fit however I hadn't to admit that when it comes to pedals I am a cheapskate and I just cannot bring myself to spend the £160 asking price, is there anything that sounds like a tube screamer for less money than this that doesn't lose low end ? Thanks
  22. A Bass Collection Bruce Thomas in faded Fiesta Red (sold for some reason as "salmon pink"). Build quality is fantastic. Its in very good condition with some slight tarnishing on the pole pieces and various screws. There is a small thumbnail sized indent on the side of the body (see pic). Sounds awesome but for some projects I need 5 strings and so I've decided to standardise on them. There's a cover that goes over the bridge which I prefer not to use as I Iike to mute strings with my right hand. Weight is 4.3 Kg (9 1/2 pounds in old money). For £20 I can include a generic case that is in very good nick, although I don't have a key for the lock. I can meet up in London or West Kent/East Sussex for a £10 contribution to travel expenses or buyer pays and arranges courier (and assumes the risk).
  23. Been asked a couple of times about the neck profile (which - being Fender Japan - isn't a traditional 60s US profile, despite the model name!) Its 1.65 inches (42mm) wide at the nut, so its basically close to the modern P bass (1970s onward; 1.625 or 1.65 inches) in nut width rather than 1950s and 1960s style 1.75 inches (44.45mm). The blurb says its U shaped (see below) and it definitely is more of a handful than my Jazz bass depth-wise (I will measure later). The finish on the rear of the neck is not thick gloopy varnish so its easy to slide around from position to position without getting 'caught'.
  24. My Ashdown Labs MK500 head is now surplus to requirements and needs a new owner who can appreciate its capabilities. I bought this from another basschatter and its served me well and been faultless in operation since I've owned it. For those not in the know, this is the special edition UK made Mark King 500 watt head based around the ABM power stage but with a 12 band graphic EQ. It also has a couple of unique features in a low noise XLR input and an 'enhance' knob that basically brightens the tone in a way not found on other Ashdown amps, a bit like a super presence control. The paintwork is in i'd consider very good condition. There are some minor paint scratches and marks from being in a rack over time, but none since I've owned it. It was kept in a pro rack case all the time i've owned it. Has only been gigged a handful of times and did most of its work in a studio enviroment as its beautifully quiet in operation, and the low noise input and DI out work extremly well together for recording or PA use. Everything works as it should and the controls are smooth and crackle free. The cooling fans operate all the time when its powered on but are remarkably quiet for such a powerful amp. It's rated 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohms and will power just about any sort of cab or combination of cabs down to 4 ohms safely. It's quite a clean and crisp sounding amp and quite unlike the slightly grungey tones that you can get from ABM's. I'm in central Scotland and would prefer collect in person so a buyer can try it out first. Tea and biscuits at no extra cost! I may consider posting the unit as long as the buyer can arrange their own courier and insurance. It would be well packaged in bubble wrap and good quality packaging. If you are interested in this option please PM me to discuss. A rough estimate based on the courier I used to buy this would be around £20 for a next day fully insured deal from a reputable courier. I'll only send to destinations within the UK mainland. Any questions please ask/PM thanks.

  26. In that case, I'll bring that. It's a curious bass as I had it made so you can use it either stereo or mono. Much like a Rickenbacker or Series Alembic. It's not as hard to play as some people might think if you put your arm on the wing a la John Entwistle as I am in the photo. I kind of didn't want to bring an instrument that you couldn't buy anymore (like the Status buzzard or Warmoth 8 string Explorer) and as Grainger will make that for you if you wish, it seems like the best way to go.
