For sale is my Cort C4 plus. These punch much above their weight, and are nice and light . This one is around 8lbs on my scale, with no neck dive. it has been a bedroom queen, never gigged, and has new (ish) Hybrid Slinky strings. the neck is lovely and fast, satin finish, and it is overall a joy to play. I am only selling as i am moving house and have decided to reduce the collection a little. i dont have a box at present, but can probably get one. Otherwise, meet you half way, or welcome to come round and have a little doodle. i think these are retailing around the £500 mark, and to be honest, if it was any other ‘brand’ would be more like a grand! I am continually amazed at the great quality Cort push out. my main gigging bass is their A4 Ultra Ash, and this C4 makes a nice addition to a collection or as a backup bass. I would say it would suit Jazz players, and folks that prefer the Sterling Stingrays to the US ones, or who like Ibanez SR’s. Its 38mm at the nut with 19mm spacing, so you folks who like precisions etc might find the neck too narrow - but who knows! cheers -

Rare immaculate bass. Optical pickup system gives better sustain and less noise as no magnetic pickups (good for studio). Check out Willcox Guitars website and youtube review video by the Bass Whisperer. This bass has a rechargeable battery which lasts well, + charger. Wide range of sounds from clever pickup and preamp system. Quality materials US made. Lighter than a lot of basses as the body is semi hollow. These normally sell for £600+ Includes cover and manuals. No dings! Reason for sale-it’s not getting enough use for such a lovely instrument. PREFER COLLECTION. But can post carefully packed at buyers risk and cost.-

Cheers! Yeah, if I were still gigging regularly, I'd be clinging on to this amp. But I'll be keeping my Little B*ast*rd 30 for recording - probably my joint favourite with the CTM-100! - so I can't really justify keeping both of them. -
MARSHALL BB-2 Not to be confused with the original Bluesbreaker pedal, which was essentially a preamp-in-a-box - this is a dedicated, dual-mode overdrive pedal. "Boost" mode is a transparent-sounding clean boost, designed to push the front end of your amp harder, while "Blues" mode gives a much more shaped (and saturated!) tone, reminiscent of the original Bluesbreaker amps being dimed. I bought this pedal back in something like 2010. It was my main distortion effect for a while, and did a handful of gigs with me, but as I've experimented with new effects and different amps, I find myself using it less and less. I still have the original box and user's manual, which are a little worn in places (see pictures); the pedal itself is in excellent condition. Only one thing: the controls originally had black position indicators painted on them, which have mostly rubbed off over the years. Up to you whether you leave them as is, or paint some new ones on! Good comment, and why to some extent I'm not going to be persistant in trying to make contact with Mr B. I currently have a comfortable halfway point, tried to make contact, no response so I'm covered (according to my conscience). The band has already booked an audition date for Mr C. -

All that for £150?! Incredible. I remember when the original Martin moving head lamps came out and they were as much as a car EACH. We only have 4 PAR type LED lamps, which have spent the last couple of years fixed to the ceiling of our practice space, but we recently brought them down ready for moving house and fitted them to a T-bar. They've been setup at one in built-in mode, with the other three following it. I didn't like it as a lot of the colours are cold - a bluish white, pale blue, cyan, lavender etc. (as seen in the photo actually). But I've just ordered one of those £20 DMX controllers from eBay and I'm planning to set up a few scenes with deep, warm colours.

Dimed = everything on full. This is the "fun zone" of the Haz. With reference to "attack", I was referring to being able to control the drive/overdrive with just how hard or soft I play with my fingers (or a pick). With one pedal setting I can play the line to Faith (George Michael) clean and then by digging in a bit more I get some warm drive on say, Mardy Bum (Arctic Monkeys). I know that's possible with any set up but it's easy, controllable and sounds like I want it to with the LHZ. I've also found that the LHZ plus the Origin Effects DCX Bass pedal is just magic however the Legacy through the DCX can get very close to Tech21 DP-3x territory. It's a fine pre-amp and possibly more versatile in its application but for the "classic Spector recipe" the LHZ delivers. I don't change the settings on the bass much, maybe just the odd song where I dial back the treble, and I find that the LHZ plus the EMGs give me more than 90% of what I need. My Spectors (PJ EMGs + LHZ) are pretty much one trick ponies but it's the best trick in the world and the ponies are very pretty and have wings 😉

Times And Seasons - The Rise and Fall and Rise of the Zombies Robin Platts HoZac Books, $31.99 356 pages Classic British pop, expertly chronicled Few books on the Zombies exist, but theirs is a story worth telling. And it's predictable that, given their Stateside star status, this quintessentially English quintet of She's Not There and Tell He No fame should be chronicled on an American imprint. The band only hung up its touring shoes last year after leader/keyboardist Rod Argent's stroke, but the work he and singer Colin Blunstone created after their reunion in 2001 - the years since 1968 being silent, in a Zombies sense - are also covered in detail by author Platts. The band always had a youthful camaraderie, having come together at high school, and that comes over faithfully in this account of their heyday - plus a long tail that details their subsequent musical careers. While Blunstone went solo and Argent created an eponymous prog band (of God Gave Rock And Roll To You fame), guitarist Paul Atkinson went behind the scenes and signed Abba to CBS - a feather in anyone's cap. Detail is forensic without being stifling. If the layout is a trifle fanzine-y, the integration of illustrative material like press cuttings and photos with the text helps make this an easy read. And the urge to play the music, always the sign of a good book, is irresistible. -

Yes. I did this exactly so I could work out if we could do 5 in a day while chatting and getting distracted. I think that'll be a thread of ideas own at some point.

My final show of 2025 was also a debut at Devizes’ White Bear, a famously haunted 15th century coach house. Dubbed as “The White Bear before Christmas”, our visuals guy had declined doing a Jack Skellington type poster design due to copyright. I admire his principles. Having lost our other regular payer, I had high hopes to make this a good show. The vibe was very friendly and our hard push across all of our social media platforms paid off. Loads of familiar faces showed up. I did a walk around prior to going on, giving out band badges. I was playing mandocello, my Precision bass, mandolin and guitar. We decided to dress extra smart to make it more of an event. Nick’s legendary 86yr old mum came down to support us (again) and told me afterwards that we just get better. The landlady was extremely happy and said the whole pub was blown away, even the people in the back bar that I wasn’t convinced we’d win over. We have a couple of super fans who have been to the last few shows who showed up. It looks like we’re back for our 2026 album launch in the spring. A definite success.
