  2. So I’ve had time to have a good play around with the various features of this pedal and colour me impressed. The tone control with the added harmonic distortion could become addictive. I’ve only tried it through headphones thus far, and I’ll have to see how that mod-scoop sounds live, but suffice to say she’s making her way onto my pedal board in time for next weekends gigs 😎
  3. I am a fan of johnathan maron also. You can source the bb3000 in Japan. Bassjapandirect has a service where he finds basses you are after. Danny may still have a red one up for sale. One in video is gone now I think. I follow him on YouTube. His helped me identify some basses. I would love a bb3000 or a p/j with a reverse p pickup.
  4. Wow I used to tinker my best mate’s one of these before I got my own first bass. Proper blast from the past!
  5. Bassist UK November 1997
  6. Ever wanted that mega Bi phase action like a musitronic! But smaller and cheaper. These are difficult to find, so my last bump.
  7. Agreed, just think of that feeling a big applause from an appreciative crowd gives us. Only those of us that entertain understand it. Daryl
  8. Hi folks, more stuff from the spares draw. These are very lightweight tuners and the one that Low End Lobster has been fitting to his Sire basses as a drop in replacement. This is effectively a set for a 5 string bass with a 4 over 1 configuration. They are currently fairly scarce and the G string tuner seems to be particularly hard to find anywhere at the moment. Prices are: Set of 4 in-line - £105 inc. P&P to UK mainland "5th" G string tuner - £35 inc. P&P to UK mainland Set of 5 tuners - £130 inc. P&P to UK mainland Here are a couple of pics and the link to Lobster's YouTube vid on the subject.
  9. It amazes me how popular Blues bands still are in England. Daryl
  10. Sometime those gigs that have " disaster " written all over them can turn out to be awesome gigs . Daryl
  11. 552 hits yesterday. 119 today. The averages are up though.
  12. The last of the Patitucci/Grusin charts, this is the tune 'Something's Coming' from the 1997 Grusin recording 'West Side Story'. That was a heavy couple of days but I really enjoy this recording and playing these parts gives me such a buzz. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/somethings-coming-dave-grusin/
  13. Rarely touch the eq on my pjb rig. Maybe tweak the bass for room acoustics. My old trace certainly needed a big smile on it tho. Guess the trace was designed to sound impressive and the pjb to be flat response.

  15. Id say yes maybe you're right. Ive been looking up MIJ pickups from that time, and some had a ceramic bar magnet. It would explain the tone, which is quite bright with a strong output.
  16. With a matching headstock, obv.
  17. Bit Early Pete Cornish Style Pedalboard. Effects of all shapes and sizes and jack sockets in different places, different power etc. - to a simple one-in one-out or Two-Routes type gig board.
  18. I don't blame you, I've become a real fan of Jonathan's playing over the last couple of years and think he's a real hidden gem of the bass world! Jonathan's BBs are indeed passive he has a pair of BB3000S (V-V-T control layout instead of the V-T-Pickup selector) and he strings one with flats, the other with rounds. I've been looking for one for a while but people that have them are keeping hold of them, and the one example I did find was both the wrong side of the Atlantic and out of my price range. One option I'm exploring as an alternative is the BBX, these were apparently Japan only basses but they have the same overall spec and control layout, the big difference being that they are bolt on rather than thru-neck.
  19. Fantastic and practical little pedal this - massively boosts your volume and immediately creates a slap tone via a mid scoop and low & high end boost - works really well. This is used but in excellent condition and comes with original 12v power supply - tiny too so will squee onto most pedal boards no problem! Reduced to £50 inc UK Shipping! Official blurb below: The MB Mini series of pedals from Markbass is made to the same high quality level as our standard effect line, but uses an ultra-compact, lightweight chassis. Smaller than other stompboxes, these incredible-sounding pedals will fit onto even the most crowded pedal boards, and the 9-12V power requirement means you can use them with any standard power supply. Give your pedalboard a “boost” with the MB Mini Boost—which also features our Variable Preshape Filter (boosts lows and highs, and cuts mids). Input: mono ¼” jack Input impedance: 1 Mohm / 6 Vpp Output: mono ¼” jack Output impedance: 470 ohm / 6 Vpp Boost Gain Level: from 0 to +20 dB Power requirements: DC Input +9/+12VDC* Dimensions: 48.4 x 38.2 x 105.2 mm / 3.23” x 1.5” x 4.92” Weight: 0.51 lbs / 230 gr * 12VDC power supply included
  20. It’s awesome. the pcb’s are separate because it’s just their regular pedals mounted in a box.
  21. How different are the pickups in the BB434 and the BBP34 ? Other than the pickups and country of manufacture and the IRA treatment they are pretty similar aren't they ?
  22. Fender 9050L flats are on. I guess this is why it’s worth wiping new flats with alcohol. Only had a little play acoustically and haven’t checked the intonation yet, but these strings feel so nice and smooth. Except the D, which is strangely rough and grabby and almost feels like they put a round in by mistake.
  23. Fender Made in Japan Short Scale Jazz Bass, Piano Black. Awesome short scale bass, only selling to reduce number of basses and unfortunately not getting much use. I can't see any scratches etc on it. Imported from Japan in September 2024, around £850 new including import duties. Can include the Fender gig bag it shipped with.
