  1. Past hour
  2. Is that really Lake Placid Blue ? Looks more grey than blue to me.
  3. #1 - Paul @NancyJohnson
  4. Good afternoon If you've been following the old thread, you'll see that me and @prowla are going to try and sort something out for a basscentric get together. Provisionally, we're looking at St Sebastian's Memorial Hall, Crowthorne, Berkshire. The room is decent (and there may be side rooms), good parking, connections, railway. At present, no date...I'll wait until the hall comes back to me with available dates. Here's a link to the hall. Hopefully it'll prove adequate. We'll need raffle stuff, a guest or two, discussions etc. Let this evolve. In the meantime, add your name to the list. Cheers Paul
  5. I totally get what you're saying second hand vs. new. I wasn't suggesting you had anything against the seller - just trying to put your mind at ease, that's all. But if you'd like another data point for your investigations - my BH250 was also second hand. Probably doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but just giving you all the info I can think of which is relevant. The BQ250 does also look like a great shout, but it's always a compromise. I did consider it when I was looking for a backup amp. With the BQ you get a more controllable preamp gain (being a pot rather than a switch between two levels on the BH), a clip light, an extra band on the EQ and built in compression (which, arguably you can have on the BH if you load up the Spectracomp toneprint). But you lose the built in tuner, the mute switch and the Toneprint of the BH. For me, the features found in the BH were more important to me than those found on the BQ Believe me, I was sceptical about the simple passive/active gain switch vs. a knob - but it works well for me in practice so I guess the two levels the switch works at were well chosen. Both amps are probably great.
  6. OK, started forming a queue. I'll wait for the rental quote and hall availability dates to come through. MODS! Can you close this thread to comments and I'll start a new thread.
  7. This is true, and one of the reasons the SE Bash worked so well.
  8. Fantastic microphone from UK company Sontronics. In near mint condition. Only lightly used. Sontronics STC-10 Small-Diaphragm Pencil Fixed Cardioid Condenser Microphone. Cost £120 £60 including UK postage. https://studiocare.com/products/sontronics-stc-10
  9. As per messages, I'm in!
  10. Interested! Whilst multiple rooms would be the ideal, in the absence of that I’m sure we can come up with a cool event with a slightly different spin, as @NancyJohnson says
  11. I would loved to have seen this!
  12. My go to 'can do it all fuzz' is the Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler V2. Annoyingly there are very few demos and most of them just show off the extreme stuff it can do, which, IMO, isn't its strongest point (also there are a few bass videos to the V1, but the V2 is a very different beast). It does amazing thick fuzz, from classic muffins, to stoner, all the way up to synth lead stuff. It's a seriously awesome bit of kit and one that I've never even had a hint of 'maybe I should sell or upgrade for something else' since the day I got it. And that's a rare feeling.
  13. I'm actually looking for something that does have fairly tame, dipped mids rather than something that is really aggressive in that area. I'm forever pulling out mids so that I can sit beneath everyone else in the band! Thanks for all the recommendations, everyone!
  14. Excellent device, but I don't need two of them. Does exactly what you'd expect. Run out of thing to say.
  15. Luxury! Why, when I were a lad ...
  16. Very decent piece of rack gear, equally suitable for studio or live use (I've used it both ways). The two multi-way cable clips on top are there by self-adhesive stuff and will remove. I found them useful enough to choose to leave them there for the new owner. The original box is present, as seen in the photos, but not the polystyrene inserts. I'll use bubble wrap for postage. Original spec: https://www.behringer.com/product.html?modelCode=0602-AAI
  17. Very little used since Covid, time to move it on. Comes with all the little bits of cabling etc. Condition is as near pristine as you're likely to find. Full specs are here: https://philjonesbass.net/cms/product-ha-1/
  18. Little used since Covid, probably time to move this on. Yes, I do realise that these cost £800 new. Yes, I do know that £300 is laughably cheap. Dimensions (w x h x d): 120 x 10 x 80 cm, 47,2“ x 3,9“ x 31,5“ Weight: 21,5 kg, 47,4 lbs I'm also aware that Bass Direct do not have these in stock, and that they're getting quite hard to find. The Bass Direct blurb runs: Bass players, Keyboard players and DJ’s using In-Ear systems on stage suffer from lacking punch and sub frequencies which prevent them from controlling their playing. How do I sound out there? Am I always tight with the drummer? I can’t hear myself! Most of you might be familiar with this …The BassBoard is the ideal subwoofer floor for stages, studio, rehearsal room or even bedroom. Two TS300 transducers moving the bass into your body. A great experience many musician are not willing to do without any longer. Feeling your instrument and what you play has never been as intense before. The additional phones out and the vibration-proof suspension of the base plate let you rehearse at home late at night without bothering your neighbours. This is a big, heavy thing that doesn't fit any 'normal' size of cardboard box. The knock-down price is for collection from Harrow HA1, or will met within a 30-min drive for a pint.

  19. I got this from our own KiOgon a few weeks ago and it was just as good as you'd expect... but I hadn't checked or discussed the layout of the Yamaha bass they were going in so had to solder a bit of extra cable to accommodate the wider spacing. Also had to take off the jack socket it came with to wire to the barrel one on the Yamaha. Now surplus to needs. Will sell for half the going price, posted. Any questions give me a shout.
  20. Many thanks for the advice and info. No offence meant to the seller and I have bought and sold a fair bit of guitars/amp/pedals etc over the years (don't all musicians have GAS tendancies...?). Second hand is always a bit of a punt. I have sh stuff that I bought 15 years ago and still works perfectly, but then I bought a portable mixer for the church a while ago for 'off site gigs' that worked perfectly for a couple of months and is now very unreliable and too old to be serviceable. It's often a balance between the costs/risks/benefits/good luck of sh, or the comfort of a warranty on new stuff.
  21. I had the drummer in the car too, we needed the passenger seat! Thankfully a cut-down cocktail kit rather than any bigger setup. And the gig was up on the moors in Cumbria during a particularly icy spell - that wasn't a fun drive...
  22. Orange Fur Coat!
  23. Good to know.
  24. Just sold a pedal to this chap. Very smooth affair start to finish. Buy/sell with confidence!
