Clarky started following GigRig Supa-Nova 9v to 12v converter for pedals
-
I bought this for my valve preamp which requires 12V. Unfortunately I didn't twig that my 500mA T-Rex power supply wouldn't power the preamp as the mA through the GigRig steps down proportionally to 375mA (9/12× 500). In short this device is great for 12V pedals that require 375mA or less ... but not for my preamp! These retail around £70 so how about £40 posted? Details here: https://www.andertons.co.uk/the-gigrig-supa-nova/

Urm, urm, this is the reissue of the original 1992~1995 model, which was made in Japan/Switzerland in close collaboration with the late Rolf Spuler (Avalon guitars). This one is a "simplified" version of the original and was made in Indonesia in 2019~2022 after the passing of Rolf Spuler in 2014, without the D-Tuner on the single bridge of the E string, not serial numbered on the front inlay, with different pickups (piezos and magnetic) and preamp, the single bridges are also different from the originals patented by Rolf Spuler. It's certainly, to me, the best designed bass ever, but this model is not as rare as hen's teeth, the original is. GLWYS for this excellent bass.

From that helpful link, we see the following: "Immediately following their appointment, the joint administrators concluded a knock-down sale of £2.4 million worth of stock and “certain intangible assets including websites, trademarks, and commercial data,” for £1.2 million to York-based Gear4music, which said it is not acquiring any part of PMT’s trading business, nor any other assets or liabilities, and has no current plans to use the PMT trading name." So, Gear4Music has purchased the PMT stock.

Not great. I loaded the car and headed to the practice place, which is luckily not particularly far. As I drove in their car park was half used for some event, they had a food truck and loads of people sat outside, there was hardly anywhere to park and I was the first there, it was going to be difficult getting the equipment past them. I went to message the guys to say that it looked like it might be an issue and to ask the singer if he had cleared it with the pub owner, then had a sudden though, and looked at my watch. Sadly my watch said Wednesday, which is unfortunate as we practice on thursdays. So I drove home! -
Here we go again... this is a great bass, but the length of it exacerbates my nerve pain, and no matter how incredible the tone is I need something a bit smaller that sits in a different position, like a Music Man. These are Jazz Bass size, with one extra fret, so a touch longer. I think that the magic of this bass is in the pickup, and not the pre amp as some folk have written online. I'm lucky enough to have bought a used pickup, which is pretty amazing as these basses are rare, so I'll be putting it into what ever bass I replace this one with - it has a huge output and sculpted tone. A maximum of 550 of these were made, with 250-275 in silver and the same amount in pink. This is another reason I've been reluctant to let it go; and also why I'm not all desperate to trade it - this advert is just out of curiosity to see if there's anything out there. Made in USA for about 2-3 years, this one from 2019. Weighs approx 9.33lbs / 4.23kg It's in a 9.5/10 condition, with just a few tiny marks on the back. Quatersawn neck, alder body, compound radius fingerboard, Tim Shaw designed pickup, Aguilar OBP-1, BA style bridge.... It's a beast. Comes with the original case and all candy. Trade only - for something with a MM pup in the sweet spot - and as I'll be modding it I'm open to options. Very nice, and I like an aesthetically well designed single cut sixer bass (Anthony Jackson fan here). The back is more beautiful than the front and it reminds me of my former JPBasses Lucii aka J-Lo, which is now with @diddywah (just look at his avatar). I guess it must be on the lighter side with a chambered body. Congratulations!

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

It's a valid question. We all haven't been 20 somethings for a while now and don't want to start at 7 to finish at 11. It makes work pretty painful the next day. We used to do 6-9 on a Sunday which was great until one guitarist moved to Newquay (travelling up in the week to work a few days in the office) and then suddenly it obviously doesn't work that well. Had to switch to midweek and then instead of doing 3 hour weekly practices, we're doing 4 hours every two weeks. It's all a bit frustrating. It really stops new songs being fresh for next practice if it's two weeks away. I think maybe we need to instigate some sort of online practice too on the non-physical meetup weeks. I've heard good things about Jamkazam. -
Depending on how many separate channels of synchronised backing you can output along with the processed instrument that might be useful. However, just stereo isn't going to cut it for anything other than the most basic of gigs. Edit: will it also send MIDI program changes to other devices? Edit 2: It will also depend how easy it is to get all that additional information loaded into the Helix Stadium from your DAW.

It depends if you're ready to break the bank... 🤔😉

I already do all of that with my Helix Floor. Preset and Snapshot changes are controlled via MIDI from the computer that runs the drums and second synth part. Selecting a song also selects the correct Preset on the Helix and then the Snapshots change in the correct place as the song plays. On some songs then Snapshots change every two bars in places which mean that if the computer wasn't doing it for me I'd pretty much be glued to my pedals for those. We have a song we're currently working on where some of the changes only last a beat or two!

Can you not start rehearsals at 7 instead..? Or have the others rehearse without you for the first hour (BV, for instance, or segue ideas..?). Just a thought. -
Gosh, what a horrible time to be a top quality bass gear reviewer! Neural DSP, Darkglass and now Line 6 all bringing out new toys! Mwah ha ha ha!!

Slimming down my studio gear at present, aiming to only have what I need rather than a lot of spare capacity! This has been very well looked after and has probably ad no more than 200hours use (still has the plastic stuff on the display!). I only use it for tracking as I use a UAD Satellite to manage plugins while mixing. Come with all original packaging/documentation. Happy to courier or for collection in person in Whitstable or London Also moving on a pair of Towsend Labs/UAD L22 Sphere modelling mics here
