The thermistor doesn’t have anything to do with the input stage. Good luck.

https://www.aurokcomposites.com/ I'd be grateful for a fresh set of eyes, so if any of you would like to pick holes in it over the weekend, feel more than welcome. It's taken 3 months for me to put the site together after some intense reflection on what to offer and how to offer it. I find it easy to lose track of small details like wording consistency, or a lack of clarity on specification after my nose has been up against the glass for so long. Basically I've standardised products based on what we've been asked for in the four batches made so far. For example, no demand for wooden fingerboards (which surprised me as I really like how they tame fret noise) and no block inlays, so we aren't going to offer them as part of the standard spec. Also, because we're low volume, I can tend to each order personally so no need for a complicated ordering system...yet. (I'll have to look at scaling production capacity and embedding QC before that becomes feasible.) On Sunday evening, I'll email an update to subscribers and post on Facebook. Cheers!

I'm winding everything back now and having a clearout of all the stuff I'm unlikely to ever use again. I'm open to sensible offers for any of these - the £900 shown in the listing is for the whole lot, collected. Prices include postage to UK addresses apart from the Take 5 - please PM to discuss collection or delivery options for that. Given that this is a clearout, I'm not really looking for swaps but feel free to let me know if you have anything - to be honest, it's unlikely but you never know! Sequential Take 5 analogue synth - immaculate condition, boxed, upgraded to the latest firmware and patches £750 Zoom R12 portable multitrack recorder - bought to record the band at rehearsal and only used once before the band imploded. Boxed, immaculate £150 Roland VT4 voice transformer - bought when I entertained fantasies of singing backing vox. Again, used just the once and then retired along with the rest of my dreams. £125 UNO drum machine - a great little drum machine, fantastic for giving us a basic beat whenever the drummer failed to make rehearsals. Light usage, boxed and immaculate condition £100 Waldorf Streichfett string synth - surprisingly versatile little synth that does a great job of recreating the sound of 70s string synths. Immaculate, boxed £150 Thanks for looking - if you have any questions or would like photographs, please PM

I’ve got someone who is helping me via DM. I have almost taken it apart now so I can see the tracks underneath, but yeah you’re right that’s a primary circuit relay, no idea what it’s doing there but when I can see the layout it’ll make more sense. Checked the only thermistor I can find on the board and that’s working fine, it’s attached to a transistor in (I think) the input stage which isn’t bolted to the heating. Got some other things to check too. Grr I hate these sorts of circuits. Wish I still had all my electrical testing stuff I had when I was much younger (and I could remember anything that was taught me! It’s fun to try and relearn it all though).

I've never seen those double dot markers on anything before. Apart from that, looks very MIJ to my untutored eye.

Long time Steinberger user here. The issue with the strap pivot plate is no so much the “boomerang” (plate) itself, but the furniture. The thrust washer and strap buttons. Theres a guy here in Ireland can make both for you. That Finnish chap mentioned made me a plate years ago. Grand job, still have it. Filling the strap button holes is simple enough. You just need a can of gel coat and some fine sand paper. that’s a nice bass for someone.

There is also a difference between single driver and multi-driver cabinets because the 4 ohm version of a driver is usually a little less efficient than the 8 ohm version. Usually the difference is roughly a dB or so but sometimes it can be as much as 3 or 4dB which means that the 8 ohm driver is now louder than the 4 ohm driver. In multi-driver cabinets, it depends on the impedance of the individual driver rather than the grouping.

At this point, with the incorrect assumptions already made, you might just want to leave it alone before you really break it! No way is that a fan relay, it's a freekin' 10A/5A G5 series relay that's safety approved for use in primary circuits. It's one of 3 things... a soft start disengagement relay, a remote power-up relay or an output muting relay.

Plays beautifully, nice low action. Unfortunately the preamp died and Sire where unwilling to sell me a replacement as it wasnt under warranty and they dont sell parts to the public, so Ive wired the bass passive 2 volumes and a tone control - no need for batteries anymore The Sire pickups sound amazing passive and have a real vintage feel, adding the 2 pickups together gives a more modern sound, I think you will struggle to find a better bass for £200, the quality and build are excellent, its up there with my USA Fender bass in both sound and playability but for a fraction of the cost.
