  1. Past hour
  2. That is a great bass tone. Lovely and clanky! Darned good playing. I must confess I was fascinated by all her MDing chat through the video - would have loved to,have heard what was going on across the talkback channel.
  3. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/136088502104?itmmeta=01JZ5D7YWZDJPZQ7JJCTN43BJY&hash=item1faf81bf58:g:47oAAeSwlwJoZEk2&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA4MHg7L1Zz0LA5DYYmRTS30mEmwwNI%2FdE8KplobEchyVSBHkMkFbH6xu173K50j6XYongCtdLzkzjNERCG0HFL6Yj0ZkwN1XKCRXsFYA5OJywOrkylRclO0VCfEls8ke%2B1O6WrP%2Bq1grX14%2FtwtMb6ODIT9%2BGh0LjF5SLn0SxlxbUCSQ48KjnIodsVtJFO33tsl%2FVj5F5urdNvCNmK9KFVSoAjMHi%2F2VXx0VF8lCFto3Dldf5l9OIFXwpeo27QjE3wRAsxJDvLkQ67jegAGtDJpdSj5cSKOJFXXsDY9yXKER%2B|tkp%3ABk9SR9Dun635ZQ
  4. Generally, everything set flat, with the tone controls on the amp set mostly neutral but bass down a bit, but if it turns out I'm a bit too bassy (the most likely situation) I'll back off the bass on the instrument a bit too.
  5. Being single, I don't get this from the wife/partner/other. However, I get looks and comments from the band when I turn up with something they haven't seen before and since I like to rotate through the bass collection for rehearsals and some of my fellow bandmates have senior moments, I will often get the 'another bass?' response.
  6. I had a look at the Trace Elliot brochures thread on here to see if I could find the combo this came from. No luck, but I think it's a bit of a shame the original 12ax7 valve preamp was removed in favour of a solid state version.
  7. We had just a drum'n'basses rehearsal on Sunday... I think I've convinced them this is a good way to go as they're all learning exactly what everyone else plays without just relying on a particular cue - means we'll be tighter and clashing parts will be ironed out as you can't hide so much. Last week was basses and guitars, so hopefully next weeks rehearsal for full band will have everyone knowing exactly what to do for gig a week Friday. So new drums and guitar will be tight as after only 4 rehearsals, including getting guitar and drums to occasionally follow me to bring out the progfunk part of of our punk!
  8. Sorry for the lack of TE relevance, but I would like to add weight to the argument that watts is just a number beyond a certain point. I use a modular system (Markbass Mini CMD121P IV + Markbass New York 121 cab) and I have a backup head - a TC Electronic BH250. All of the following combinations (in order of wattage) are loud enough to be heard fine with a full band IMO. Markbass full rig - 500W into 4ohm 2x1x12" Markbass combo on its own - 250W into a single 8 ohm 12" TC Electronic BH250 into a crappy rehearsal room Behringer 4ohm 4x10" (250W) TC Electronic BH250 into 4ohm 2x1x12" (250W) TC Electronic BH250 into single 8 ohm 12" cab (so providing a nebulous amount of watts less than 250W - TC shy with this info but I guess it will be less than 200) At its most powerful (500W), I don't need the master up on my rig more than about a third in general when playing in the same room as a drummer, guitarist and singer or a drummer, singer, backup singer, keys, sax, trombone. Even with the lesser powered stuff, it doesn't need to be cranked to be heard. TL:DR - try the Elf with your 2x15" in the full band setting (and play with EQ) before you even think about buying anything.
  9. @Quatschmacher, fancy seeing you hear 😎
  10. I have a couple of IMA's synth packs for my Helix that are excellent (particularly his vintage synth pack). I'm not great at dialling in these types of sounds, so these are a godsend. He put a video together several years ago explaining how to get a variety of synth sounds from typical stompbox effects such as fuzz, octave, filter and chorus - his Helix presets are largely the same formula. It seems to me this new MXR pedal takes that formula even further, but with an oscillator added. If I didn't already have the Helix, I might be tempted.
  11. My wife has recently moved from 'Buy what you want/need' to a strict 'Sell one before you buy something else AND always trade up'. It's not really about the delivery, it's about seeding the suggestion well in advance (much like our upcoming American style fridge-freezee purchase). When @cetera sorted out the recent Spector Euro-X build, I was able to spin some kind of backstory about it being a test build and being offered at a healthy discount. If she knew the actual price, I fear I may have been wearing my ballbag as a hat.
  12. Is the correct Basschat response 👍
  13. Just got Recycle (its free), and tried it with a drum pattern. When you select export to midi, it complains there are too many slices and exports 91, but the midi is an odd ascending scale!
  14. Sadly the silly money prices on eBay are coming down. However people are paying double and a bit more for the pedal. Just checked and one auction is at £132 for a pedal. If anybody wants mine for £120 just le me know. There's supply coming through as I have one, so not sure why people are that desperate for it.
  15. Wash It All Off - You've Got Foetus On Your Breath
  16. Excelent, that is on my 'buy second hand when someone gets bored of it' list!
  17. Sorry, I meant 'sleep on', I will correct my post.
  18. I have to wonder whether there was actually something wrong with the Elf that I had and moved on. Nice tone, but it couldn't produce anywhere near enough volume to be useful through a pair of cabs which are more than capable with amps of only slightly higher quoted power. I think in the OP situation, if the Elf proved to be lacking I'd be tempted to try the Transit B preamp pedal into a power amp. I like the Crown XLS xx02 series, myself.
  19. It's odd, these festivals. I'd never go to Glastonbury; to me it's a four day hellish version of Later... Likewise Download. Aah, I remember the old days, drive up, backstage parking, watching Motley Crue and Aerosmith from the side of the stage, proper bogs home and asleep in my own bed about 2.00am the next day. Now? Four days of bands with vocalists just clearing their throats. Nope. When all this was fields, the events that got my attention were just 12 hours. It's difficult to fully quantify but take the old Monsters of Rock things at Donington. 70,000 people, one stage and (usually) seven or eight great bands. Now it's all multiple stages, dozens of bands no one has heard of etc. The day long Donington has evolved, but the 1980s type event would now be supplanted as part of a tour itinerary (if this makes sense). It would be like Green Day just playing Wembley Stadium with a decent undercard, then this moving to the Manchester City stadium.
  20. Hello, I am very interested in your bass. Is it still available? I live in Spain but I have siblings in UK. Please answer Thanks.
  21. Small, but effective.
  22. We have the NW bass bash to blame - your L-1000 and GreeneKing's L-2500 convinced me to look for something L flavoured. Wants / needs, etc..!
  23. Might be interested in an Ibanez SR605 or K5 or Warwick 5 string in p/x
  24. Wash It All Away - Five Finger Death Punch
  25. Heh, are you me in disguise? Seriously though, the wunkay is a fantastic bass, so glad I have one in my arsenal.
