How far have you travelled to pick up a Bass?
BTops replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
450m round trip -

1 Fender Neo Bassman 410 cab in used but cared for condition with a padded cover. Big warm sounding 410 but doesn't lack high end should you want it. I have recently acquired a 610 from the same line, which I am enjoying immensely, so it's time to let this go! Delivery might be possible but would far prefer to arrange some kind of meet up on this. I am trekking around the country a bit over the next few months so anything is possible. Replaced castors a few months ago.

I thought Pino always used Thomastik Jazz Flats? (which are expensive enough as it is!) -
It takes a special 15 to be heard off axis. Most are functionally deficient in the off axis department.

In good working order, features include fan-cooled fast-transient power stage, 12" Speaker, a fully-featured bass preamplifier with inputs for both active and passive instruments, a 'VU style' LED input level meter, 5 band EQ with Bright and Deep switches, a front panel-mounted balanced DI output for connection to a PA or recording console, an FX loop, a tuner/line output and the classic Ashdown sub-harmonic generator. Selling for a close friend, so collection only from the Swadlincote area.

@neepheid We'll take everything I can find in the house. We'll make it work one way or another. Rob

I think you're confusing technical and functional. The point in question was that if the cab works for the player - and for most players that includes the player's bands and audiences because, they'll soon find out when it doesn't - then it doesn't mater whether it's a 1x10, 1x12, 1x15 etc. I've had 15s that worked (in my case Mesa) and 15s that didn't (in my case Markbass), it's not the 15-ness that defined the functionality

dmccombe7 started following How do you find a band in 2025?
-
I'm on the Join my Band and Bandmix mix. Had success with both. Also looked at local Facebook groups. There's generally one or two groups in your area. I just searched FB for musicians wanted in my area. Once you get a foot in the door and you're reliable and friendly enough you will find offers coming in from bands you meet looking for a bass player. I'm 65 and up until recently was in 3 completely different band styles. Glam Rock, punk rock and classic rock but was all a bit much and cut it back to the Glam band which is more successful. Don't be afraid to take on a band that's not what you listen to. It's a foot in the door All the very best with it. Dave

2CD box still sealed. £12 posted UK. *Now £8* 40 track digipack featuring all of Punk legends The Vibrators’ releases between 1976 and 1978. Features the single version of ‘Baby, Baby’ on CD for the first time and now comes with the bonus of their singles for RAK Records ‘We Vibrate’ and ‘Pogo Dancing’ on which they backed Chris Spedding. Arguably the essential Vibrators period! 40 tracks of prime punk…

Maybe a bit late but GHS Brite Flats maybe?

Thats the whole quote in context ⬆️. Seems reasonable enough to me.

It really is just verbiage.

Japhet started following 15 or not 15? What do you think?
-
Have had all sorts over the years. 4x10 1x15 2x10 18+2x10. Have been blissfully happy for about 10 years now with a 2x12+tweeter. Quite like the 1x15 in the rehearsal studio but it's difficult to hear when you're right next to it.

Sounds like some of the garbage MDP comes out with. At least it didn't mention the spacing being ideal for sausage fingered builder guitarists.

Right, it looks like I've been screwed over on the stands front. Despite me paying for first class postage, vendor used RM Tracked 48, a 2-3 day service and I just got the email from RM to tell me they'll deliver them... tomorrow. FFS. Which means I'm 4 stands short. @peterjam - could I please hijack the triple stand you were offering before it goes to its new owner? @rwillett - I know you mentioned spare stands, but I think @ossyrocks already asked for spare stands so maybe you could help him out with yours? Cheers folks, see you tomorrow!

They might be irrelevant to you. They could be irrelevant to all if you are playing very quietly through your stage rig. That would require excellent monitors for everyone else and a PA doing the job out front. For the average pub band with a vocal only PA the technicalities are VERY relevant to bandmates and audience.

I can tell you that a Boogie 2x18 was fine on its own and didn't lack anything in the definition department. I didn't use it on its own at a gig, it supplemented a 2x15 when I was feeling extravagant!
