Ditto, I was wondering whether it should be in "Notable deaths".

No, a much better idea is to buy a 5-string, then sell it on in three months with "I've found I don't get on with 5-strings" in the advert. Incidentally, I moved to 5-string after 30 years on 4s.

I didn't realise it was showing adverts, I run an ad blocker. I find the search function really poor on JMB. It's sort of better on Bandmix, except that 75% of the people on there don't understand how to set the filters for what they're looking for, so they look for accordionists, bagpipers, and triangle players as well as bassists, when they're actually looking for a drummer.

1962 Fender Precision basket case?
SurroundedByManatees replied to danbanbass's topic in Bass Guitars
You can't list this titled as a '62 and take yourself seriously at the same time imo. We are talking about a half original neck, a pickup and a bit of hardware that is (when giving the benefit of the doubt) probably original. Just my opinion of course. -

Assumed this was a 'has sadly passed away' thread

...although would be more correct to call it a bitsa, there's not a single piece of wood that's all original (body after-market, replacement board etc) so not really fair to describe it as a '62 in any way
-
That bass has been doing the rounds a while, think it was owned until recently by a guy on here, original price was way higher, suspect BD have done full audit hence lower price
-
Yep all of that is entirely correct. We all use in ears, no backline and the venue only allows electric drums. The biggest problem is that the whole system sounds absolutely awful. Virtually no bass at all. Just all really harsh and mid heavy at a low volume. All of it compressed to within an inch of its life. @EBS_freak knows these systems well and I his opinion of them is much the same as ours if i recall. It's gigs like that where the money we spend on iems and nice stereo monitor mixes really comes into its own.

Warwick corvette conundrum

A much better idea is to buy a different 4 string Warwick and set that up BEAD, also much more in keeping with forum etiquette compared to simply being happy with the instruments you currently own. -

Steve1967 started following Sadowsky Metro Express 5

Hi I bought this at the start of the year through this forum, but try as I have, I’m a 4 string kinda guy….so this has to go. That said, this bass plays and sounds so, so good. It’s a 1st generation RSD ME, which has had some changes. The preamp has been changed to a 2 band Glockenlang which allows the bass to also retain a tone control if switched to passive mode. ( sounds killer) The original logo has been switched for the newer Sadowsky Metro Express one (far nicer IMHO). The scratchplate has a carbon wrap on, which could easily be removed and returned to the original white if required. This is a seriously good bass that defies its RSD pedigree, it’s plays so well, the fretwork is great, the build quality is far better than you may expect. If this was a 4 string, it would be going nowhere. On which note, I would welcome a trade for a 4 string version of this, either 1st or second gen, with a cash adjustment if required. Or a Spector Legend Neck Thru. Collection or meet within 1hr of Milton Keynes. Any questions, fire away.

I’d be more worried about the proximity of a bishop to young children…😈

Warwick corvette conundrum
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
Well the seller of the 5 did contact me and it would have been possible etc . However after a lot of thought , I’ve decided not to go ahead with getting a 5 string . I’m too used to 4’s . I’m going to keep my warwick for now . I’m torn between getting my Jack Daniels bass set to BEAD or the Warwick .🤔 @Mottlefeeder how was the experience with detuning your Warwick ? -
The 'I can't hear myself at all - so will turn everything up full and then muck about with cables and power/mute switches etc' deserves severe punishment (or at least needing to buy the band a round of drinks). It's a pet hate of mine, I know it is easily done but is real amateur hour stuff that sounds terrible if there are punters within earshot, potentially breaks equipment, and is really dangerous for hearing. .....that's not to say I haven't done it myself though!
