Wow, has it been seven years already? Anyway… happy to report my Clarett 4pre is still going strong. My unit does have loopback, by the way. Seems a strange feature to phase out… Years ago, I recorded a bunch of guitar overdubs with a Motu 8pre, I think… seemed like a quality unit. The guitars came out great, so that was a nice experience. Hope you enjoy it as well, best of luck!

So it’s really a 41 🤣

Surely these are just a rebadged MIM Player series except that they're now being produced in Indonesia? Don't think they'll hold a candle to the American Standard series (RIP).

Agreed, for about £200 a well set-up second hand Ibanez SR 300 is really not that different to some £1k basses I've owned.

Kim kindly upgraded the loom on the Yamaha I lent him. Nice guy, a pleasant experience all round, and thoughtfully sent a pic of it in action as well It's been an absolute pleasure. Thanks Kim.

Just so I can make this clear as I was not aware that an article was made about me, first of all, I am his daughter so the fact I was quoted to be his love interest is disgusting. Second of all, he was not the man you all thought he is on the internet, he was abusive to all his children and even threatened to kill himself to me over text at just 14 years old. The bases and guitars WE have were bought with MY MUM’s money. How would you have expected my dad to afford all this luxury whilst staying unemployed and not providing anything for anyone? I find all the speculation about this man abhorrent as with most people on the internet, he was one to only show you his good side if he knew he could get some use out of you.

Tonerider Jazz pickups... how good are they really?
Supernaut replied to wateroftyne's topic in Accessories and Misc
I really like them but not sure they have the edge on Lollar and Fralin pups? CS62 pups are excellent too. -
It's a couple of passes to remove file marks, no big deal.

When you pay more for any old or cherished artifact (when compared to a similar but newer or more commonplace equivalent), what you're paying for is scarcity and/or originality. We aren't tripping over '62 P-basses in every nook and cranny (I wish), they certainly qualify as rare and therefore valuable. But to call that a '62 P-bass is like me putting some vintage wheels and whitewall tyres on my 2017 VW Golf and calling it a classic Beetle.

Bang for buck, I highly recommend Toltec pickups https://www.laverackguitars.com/toltec-pickups You can phone up and have a proper conversation with Lee Laverack about pickups and all things techy. He handwinds pretty much whatever you want. He's done a few for me. He's very reasonaly priced too considering the quality of the parts and workmanship. He also covers the pickups for life. He's based near Leeds and is a gem. I reckon £110 for a pair of J pups done to your exact spec/liking. I've got a set knocking about here if you'd like to try them out. Not for sale but happy to let you borrow to try. -
320 grit? Really? Wow, I salute your skill. I wouldn't dare use anything that coarse. A real risk of re-shaping the fret with something that rough.

They're not getting their hit. If it doesn't hit within 30seconds, they know it's probably not coming and move on to the next video. That's why the videos have to lure people in, and have to be engineered to hold people's attention. It's why people spend hours searching, they're not getting the hit, if they were, they'd not be on the phone for hours. They're all searching for something that isn't there. -

It might be a bit far..... he's on the continent

Agreed. The Japan-only version with maple board and matching inlays is a lot more attractive......

I'm bringing my ebony board 4 to the SE Bash if you want try it. The ebony makes it even more gritty and zingy.

They understand how dopamine works. It's not about the constant scrolling, it's about finding something that's better than you expected. In a sea of mediocrity everyone is scrolling, scrolling, searching for something that presses their button and ticks their own personal box. The genie is out of the bottle. Just performing good music, well, no longer gets people's attention. To be honest, it never has, its always been about the next best thing, audiences are fickle and constantly changing and evolving. Beatles vs Stones, not about the music, Mods vs Rockers, Blur vs Oasis, Dem vs Rep, Gen Z vs Gen X, Feminist vs Trans, it's not about music, it's all about being a member of a tribe. And media and politicians know this is how it works. You need to be ahead of the game and finding something new and exciting all the time. The problem is, now we have come so far along the line, there's very little that is new and engaging. Hence, people continue to scroll endlessly in a pointless search, and when they do find something that's new and exciting and fresh, are swiftly disappointed when they find it's not real, all smoke and mirrors, the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain. -
Thanks Gary! 🙂 I have to say that though a great looking Spector it is, yours (and the 5er) wins with the paintjob / color selection, the maple board and the matching inlays. If I were to have an ebony boarded CST (which I'm seriously contemplating) it would be a red one.

Up for sale is my 2019 Rickenbacker 4003s in limited edition pillar box red. Unusally for a Ric these came with a maple fretboard. Bass is near mint condition, set up nicely it plays great and sounds as only a Ric can. Apparently there were only 25 of these made for the Uk market so it is a bit of a rarity. It comes with the Ric certificate and all the tags too. There are a few very tiny lacquer chips on the bottom edge. I couldn't really see them let alone photograph them but they are there somewhere. They are only the top coat of lacuqer so not through the paint at all. The case has typical Ric case single foot damage but other than that the bass is mint condition. I can take trades with cash my way. A skinny necked P would be nice, jazz basses always tickle my boat and float my fancy so you never know. Finally, I can travel to meet up but have a hernia op on the 27th Aug so am out of action for a few weeks after that.

Yeah, I wanted the smaller size as when I plan to play it (at church) it’ll be in combo with electric bass, so I didn’t want to lug loads of extra stuff about. Also the price I got it for was pretty good tbh 👍🏻. The Grandmother was on my possible list due to the larger keybed, but I thought presets would come in very useful. Lastly reading the Moog forums, there seemed to be a few problems that could occur, so buying new with an extended warranty (don’t normally get those) seemed to be prudent! ps. I’ve also just pulled the trigger on a Novation BSII, and trying to find a DSI Mopho SE ha ha. I seem to have a Monosynth mania at the moment, no need for any polyphonicness for me 🤣

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C3V74M27 The 0.25 degree one is really hard to see the taper on, but the 0.5 and 1 degree ones are definitely tapered, and the 0.5 one demonstratably works - the neck heel is on the deck at the front and there's a gap at the back.

Yeah, I saw one posted that was touted as a 'new' Bob Marley and Peter Tosh song.....very obviously (for many reasons!) AI had basically been given a prompt to make it. For the sake of it, I asked AI to do a Reggae song about Chichester: https://suno.com/s/4N29U2W1xoc5Hrrh ....cheesy, but not terrible. It is a bit of a concern as I've just started in an originals Reggae band that doesn't gig (in addition to my usual band that does gig a lot), so the only thing this new band does is record original music, but I can only assume that AI music creation will only continue to get better and more easily available so originals bands are going to really have to up their game and add something properly original/authentic to be relevant.
