At least we know it’s good for metal……
-
Agreed. But the MXR sounded plenty good enough for a live band mix to me? Loved his descriptor of "blue collar bassist" - made me want to get his book, but seems to be kindle only now?

So, who'll be using their limited edition Pino Palladino Stingray at the Tickled Trout? 😁

what kind of music are you playing. Just curious to hear about others. Dave -
Yep always take the positive @Stub Mandrel Hopefully home soon tho. Are you bored or just chilling out while staff run after you. 😂 I remember breaking my leg playing footie and loved being in hospital. I had no work to worry about and was able to sit and read motorbike and bass mags all day for a week or so. (Leg was broken in 2 places and pinned) Dave

I always thought it was paid for thru your taxes and NI was for sickness payments and/or pensions. No expert to be fair but i do recall there being a strong sided debate on BC about it and that was one of the points that i took from it. If its been said on BC then it must be true cause this is the Gospel according to bassists. Dave

I've got some hardware I think.

In a very sad turn of events Juan Alderete announced yesterday that he’ll be selling lots of his gear on Reverb, presumably as he can no longer play. Or at least not the way he wants to. No store link yet but it’s going live some time next week, I believe. Announced on this Instagram post of anyone wants more info.

That does look gorgeous. Wish I hadn't looked it up.

As a main band I'd have to say Mingus Tree, which I joined probably 4-5 years ago. Most of the members are based in Charlbury and we mostly play around that area, e.g. at the beer festival or other Cricket Club events such as the Oktoberfest. Also fetes, pubs, and sometimes private parties. The gig schedule is pretty relaxed, which suits me nicely. The material is jazz, though the tunes are quite accessible with fairly simple arrangements, catchy grooves (sometimes Ska or Reggae-like) and lyrics to some of the pieces; listeners who "hate jazz" have often told me that they enjoyed our sets. It's almost all original material written by the trumpet and guitar players (who founded the band long ago). There's not much I've managed to get on record but there is a video of us struggling through some bad weather at Ramsden fete and a song from a Charlbury gig where I was recovering from an inner ear infection and struggling to stay upright. I'd like to get a proper recording done but never managed it.

Pretty easy to spot which is which too.

Picked one of these up recently. Yep. Very nice. Lovely smooth neck, lovely dimensions to it. Pickups sound lovely. Tone pot has a lot of width in it, plenty of tones. Tuners work great. Its lightweight. Yep. Very nice indeed. Absolutely no need for any higher priced precision.

Bump with latest eBay tyre kicker story: EBayer: Hey,why is the chrome neck cover plate upside down? Me: I tweaked the truss rod to get action super low and accidentally reinstalled the cover plate upside down. Would you like me to reverse it and send you a picture? EBayer: Yes please (thumbs up emoji) Me (15 minutes later): voila (with attached a couple of pics of correctly installed cover plate) .... no reply

Agreed, If it was possible to significantly undercut the competition with a US manufactured bass someone would have done it. And if nobody saw the value in paying that much for a US manufactured bass, these companies would go out of business.

For sale is my well loved, well gigged TC Electronic BG250 Combo Bass Amp. This amp saw me through many years of gigs at pubs and small venues such as The Wedgewood Rooms and The Edge of the Wedge alike - and it admittedly shows. Alas, it never let me down, and is still a fully functional, powerhouse of an amp. The reason for sale is that I am trying to downsize as I don't have the space - or power requirement for this bad boy anymore. It has fantastic tonal control, even through a simple three-band EQ and delivers 250W of smooth bass tone through the 2x10" speakers alongside a small tweeter. It has a built-in tuner with mute functionality; as well as line in and phones out ports for rehearsing with the band, or practicing alone. Finally, a balanced direct output will allow you to plug into any venue's soundsystem - meaning you're ready to tackle that all-inportant gig of yours, whether in the local or at the O2. The Toneprint controls are great fun to mess about with and allow you to load bass effects to each A or B track onto the amp from your phone via the bass' pick-up - its practically magic, as far as I'm concerned! Each effect can be controlled by a footswitch, which I don't have, but only sell for ~£40 new. Price: £180 ovno Swaps: • Ampeg Micro CL Stack (and cash your way). • Mark Bass CMD JB Player School (and cash your way). I have tried to highlight the worst of the nicks and scratches, but this is an amp that has travelled and gigged, as is sold as such. Any questions, feel free to reach out!

Yes, they’re apparently 1.615” with a 7.5” radius, rather than 1.625” on the modern 9.5 radius Precision necks. At least it’s not a 1.75” aircraft carrier deck nut! Yes, met up with Tony on our travels last night. Now I have another bass to deliver in. Bristol this evening before going home to Derbyshire.
