Selling this bass as I originally picked it up as a backup to my main touring 4 string, a white MM with all the same mods. They’re both great basses but I don’t have as much need for a direct duplicate as I used to and it’s too good to be sat around not being played. I had it re sprayed with this smokey black burst which maintains the look of the natural grain. It’s picked up some nicks and scuffs which I’ve pictured. I love the way it looks and sad to let it go. The neck has a beautiful flame to it and it and the fretboard are unblemished. Fitted with a John East MM preamp, hipshot drop tuner and schaller style strap locks, otherwise all original and in great condition. Will ship in UK for £30 or meet in London area. Open to offers and happy to answer any questions. Thanks! James

Yeah, looks like they've stuck a spaghetti-type decal on it, as mentioned by SurroundedByManatees above, which was never used on a Jazz, only P-basses up until the mid-60s transition period. P.s. as far as I know, it was always a waterslide decal on top of the lacquer until they brought in the TV logo at the end of the 60s, after which they nitro lacquered over the top of it, hence why most well-used late 60s-70s fender headstocks have gone brown over time.

They sound beautiful when pushed with a P Bass.

The time it got REAL hot, it was running into an Eden ex112 4ohm cab. I've used that setup before but not had that heat issue. Only difference i can remember were my settings. I had cranked the gain on the amp quite high, something around 3 o'clock i think and the master volume was about halfway. I was running the tidal wave, drive about 3/4, volume maybe just below halfway. I was also using the zoom b1on with a distorion pedal almost always on. Sounded awesome but like i said, the amp did get hot.

That would do it for sure. The amp will be cooler running into an 8Ω load that if it was pushing a 4Ω one.

I think it’s worth bearing in mind that if you bought this, and then later decided to move it on, all the questions you’re asking now will get asked by potential buyers. I’d imagine plenty of them would have reservations about the same things we’ve discussed here, so it might not be the easiest bass to sell. If it’s a great player, then you might be ok, but if it’s not (and a warped neck won’t help) then I fear you’d be stuck with a bit of a dog.

Not in my experience playing my 5-string through it. I have a v5 500 combo btw and they have since brought out the 800s. That is plenty enough for the pub gigs I play and more than enough for the occasions where we have full PA and it's just used for on stage monitoring. Places to try a range of amps are very few and far between. You just have to read reviews, listen to demos, ask for advice and ultimately take a bit of a punt. I'm very happy with my Rumble. There are a few BC members using them and they very rarely appear in the classifieds, I guess that says something. But then ask 10 people and you'll get 20 different recommendations 😂

From other instruments to double bass

Sounds good to me, how are you liking them? I feel like there's some more midrange presence compared to the previous video with the black nylons, the attack is nice and the pitch is clearer. -
Glass (or carbon) fibres make the material tough. The fibres tie the polymer together (and the other way around). Practically many polymers (like polyamide, PA) containing lots of fibres are very tough. Most of them are also injection moldable, depending on fibre length (from ball to fibres to long fibres) and machinery. Here's a product that is made of PA that includes tens of percents of fibres. These were built from metal earlier, and are in a hard place: M. Cipollini et al. have pushed far over 2 bhp through similar pedals, and cleats. https://www.lookcycle.com/us-en/products/pedals/road/comfort/keo-classic-3 P. S. Because of fibres (especially glass) these polymers (plastics) are not that easy to recycle.

You've all seen it before but I thought it looked particularly good with a bit of light on and the Fender / Ampeg back drop..
