  1. Past hour
  2. The truss rod works fine, and at the moment is backed right off, maybe half turn on. I have adjusted the action to about 2.5mm and its playing well with just a hint of buzz but that's the sound you want from a stingray, nice and raspy. There does look to be about .5mm of belly in the neck when I put a straight edge on it. Maybe a fret levelling would be enough.
  3. Nice to see the old brand doing well and making basses again.
  4. Maybe the Behringer Acoustic ADI21 at £20ish could be a way to go? https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Behringer-ADI21-V-Tone-Acoustic-Preamp/6LW Bit of tone shaping, plus blend, and still a DI when off?... just as long as you have a bit of monitor provided, or the std out into an FX return?
  5. Hi, does it just need a truss rod tweak or is there something more inherent amiss?
  6. £435 is less than I paid for mine this year and a good deal. I've used mine loads (even at rehearsals) and it has been flawless.
  7. Thanks Rob, might well take you up on that. Clapham, or some grotty services somewhere - no contest, innit?
  8. so here's a heads up if you want to go wireless Thomann are doing the MIpro 58 set for £435.00 I paid £579 for mine from cybermarket https://www.thomann.co.uk/mipro_mi_58rt_58_ghz.htm this is a great system on 5.8 gig, and so far, zero drop out
  9. @neepheid You are welcome to break the journey up at Chez Clapham whether I go to this bash or not, on either or both journey legs. Rob
  10. Yes, because I'm quite, quite mad. But in the good way. When you live in the sticks, you gotta go where the fun is - you'll die waiting for the fun to come to you...
  11. Are you really coming from Aberdeen to the SW bash ? That’s an epic journey
  12. I tried one of these when demoing a bass at my local music shop (Promenade) and I was amazed by the sound quality and power there was given that it is being marketed as an ‘entry level’ product. I reckon this would be perfect for most pub situations and more since it has a DI out. GLWTS.
  13. I have one as a 5 and it got huge plaudits on Wednesday night
  14. Bought a VT bass Di pedal from Liviu . Very quick to reply to me and posted quickly. Recommend, great to deal with Thanks James
  15. I will and the 3d printed six string. Work has become all consuming so I've done square root of sod-all on a number of printing projects that I want to see through. I might see if I can use October to get some momentum. Rob
  16. One of my boys has this on his Tablet and it's very good. I think he paid a tenner for it, although he doesn't use it much now because he got Cubase and also Cubasis for when he is up and about. Also, he can exchange projects between Cubasis and Cubase. If you want Midi recording, both Cubasis and Audio Evolution are capable of this. I'm not sure the Fender App does Midi recording, but then again it is free and the other two are not. Maybe they plan to introduce it in a future update.
  17. The Link IO looks similar to the iRig, which is only around £30 I think? I had the iRig a few years ago, it did a good job. I've also seen something from TC Helicon called GO Guitar, which is the same idea, but it's £18 on Amazon. You probably won't need any of them, as the Behringer interface should do the job, but if you end up wanting to try that option there are cheaper units than the Fender, which is nice.
  18. No, im not talking about the intro, im talking about the verses. You are correct about the intro.
  19. Today
  20. From memory (and I don't have a bass to hand) I'm fairly sure playing the ascending riff it has a different note in, than the descending bit (if that makes sense). We used to play it in a weird key to fit the singer so I've no idea what actual notes we played.
  21. I’ve done this on an electro acoustic- does work
  22. thanks for the interest, 3 people have asked about posting, I’m holding out for a local pickup, if it’s still around after next weekend I’ll see what I can work out with posting
  23. An acoustic bass with a big body isn’t a million miles away from your situation - hope you get a solution here
  24. I wish, but I already have a four and and I just bought a 5 string jazz-ish cannot justify with the management
  25. Most of the deps I do are for friends and friends of friends. On a dep gig I expect to get the same rate as the rest of the band. I always treat a new set list and playing with a new band as an opportunity to learn new songs, meet with different players and get my foot in the door for more gigs. I've come across some great songs over the years. I don't have a great memory, so I always chart the songs. Just in case. One annoying thing bands sometimes do, send me a set list with MP3's and videos and then play (on purpose or not) different arrangements!!
