  1. Past hour
  2. This has been partly brought on by the insistence of Fender/Gibson for stores to have entire walls of their product. Now, I like a good Fender as much as the next guy but I have no desire to see a wall of them so I never visit. Shops with a wide choice of brands, a good used section etc will always win out for me...... be they specialist stores with a wide range like Bass Direct, Gallery, BassBros etc or a more general music store with a decent range like RichTone or Andertons.
  3. Fun fact but I did a session on one of these around 1999/2000 with Paul Weller's old bass player producing and I always swore it was one of the best bass sounds I ever had. The old 90s Danelectro basses are really decent. GLWTS.
  4. It's a shame but like others have said I've barely been to the Bristol store since they move to Temple Meads as its a pain to get to. I've bought a number of bits from them over the years and they were always helpful.
  5. I meant to also say that I intended to drop into the Birmingham PMT at some point - they moved to just inside the CAZ from just outside it, so as we didn't have a ULEZ compliant car I didn't, and after we finally got a compliant one I never got round to going there. They did have the occasional slightly interesting instrument in there, and in fact I bought my Crafter acoustic guitar from there.
  6. That would be a problem for any music store, keeping 4000 Precisions and 6000 Jazzes in stock before they've even considered stocking Squiers too.
  7. Sending love mate. We're here for you if you ever need anything x
  8. That was a brave post Lee. I feel for you, and what you must be going through at the moment. I'm just out of hospital now, and I'm on the mend but still taking it easy. I know you have a gig tomorrow, so good luck with that, but I'll say that when I was your position a few years ago, I found solace in music and playing live, and found it really helped, especially playing live. You ain't got the blues until you've lived the blues man. We'll have that meet up in the next few days hopefully, it will be good to see you and talk. Until then, stay strong. Rob
  9. Same as above really, just to say I wish you all the best lee
  10. Yeah i agree that it is very unlikely that the bass would have a fret distance problem. The strings are GHS Precision Flats. He replaced the screw with one that is 1cm longer and sent me a picture. The saddle is all the way towards the pick-up, and the intonation is much better at the 24th fret but still not 100% perfect. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that the string is spot on at the nut and 12th fret, but flat at the 24th? How is it possible? Anyone else has any other idea than the possibility of a faulty string?
  11. I have a China made version of this bass, and it's absolutely awesome. Super lightweight - yet the sound is immense. Did some studio recording with mine just the other day, and the sound engineer was mightily impressed with the tone. Easy on the shoulders for those long gigs, great sound, slim easy neck, and with a very different look. Someone needs to buy this bass now! 😀
  12. No response so far concerning the bug in the Hyper Luminal Compressor block. More voices need to be heard, maybe...

  15. I don't know what's going on with the pictures... 😕 If you copy/paste this into a new browser window it should display: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dmc0qsstctanrv5a9dkpl/IMG_20250511_142124.jpg?rlkey=30q3y5x613v5lnlhes6eqtm51&dl=1 It's the yellow one: https://www.markbass.it/product/markbass-mb-octaver/
  16. I have one of these, it's a really unusual and useful bit of kit. The HPF does the usual thing of progressively filtering out unwanted low frequencies, very useful but can sometimes leave the bottom end feeling a little lacking. By adding in a little resonance you can not only tighten up the bottom end up but also retain some real low end punch. The mid speaks for itself, really handy to have, particularly if you have a bass with 2-band eq (or passive). The LPF does the reverse of the HPF, and in combination can emulate a cab sim. By itself it's useful for filtering out unwanted clacky high end or tuning in a vintage vibe. But with the added resonance control, it effectively works like an Alembic filter preamp (or ACG/East, Lusithand etc). By adding a bump at the cutoff frequency you can tune in a vast array of sounds from any pickup. A clever little box of tricks.

  18. @mikebass456 can add me to that disorderly queue. In the meantime, I'd better post a white bass... here's my 25 year old Mexican Fretless.
  19. There's not an appropriate reaction icon for that. Wanna give you a hug, truth be told. Best of luck, mate.

  21. That Gardiner Houlgate is a serious threat to my bank balance every quarter!
  22. Ive only just became aware of this (and spent 30 mins sobbing afterward) a few members im close too will know that after 22 years of marriage my wife asked for a divorce. At the risk of oversharing. For many years ive struggled with (for a long time undiagnosed) carpal tunnel in both wrists, which at times has hampered my playing. This is on the mend, but among other things has taken a toll. Im devastated, but ive done a lot of thinking and looking back, it cant go on Ive been harming myself mentally, and suppressed anger and frustration and sadness until it warped me into something im not, and caused her to fall out of love with me ive numbed the pain with Alcohol which has affected my physical health. She knew what was happening to me, but dealt with it by keeping busy with other things and remained focused on creating a life for herself that didnt include me, in time we were more roommates than a husband and wife. So sad, we had a beautiful relationship, and it withered and died and we both let it happen! heartbreaking, truly heartbreaking Ill always love her,she was my best friend, soulmate and the love of my life. Right now im still full of anger and resentment and need to try and let it all go and forgive, because ive tortured myself and her for years If this looks at all familiar i beg you COMMUNICATE, share your feelings and find the person you love. Im not courting sympathy or even attention, but please hug your partner and love them fiercely and with all of your heart. Ive been a nember of this forum since 2007 and it has been part of my everyday life in all that time. Ive made friends for life and brothers id never had, and many many times been a small light in my darkness. I cant thank you all enough for this, im very moved and grateful to have so many wonderful people in my lif Im going to move out and get a flat with the shirt on my back and a couple of basses, at 51 my life parallels when i left Newcastle at 19 Im on the cusp of a new start My focus will be on healing myself phyisically and mentally, i plan to throw myself into the thing thats always defined me , Music!! Time to forgive and heal
