  2. I was listening to the Beatles, 'Something' the other day, and I've never noticed before how incredible Paul McCartney's bass line is on this song. In my opinion, McCartney is at his best on this bass line and because of that, I decided to feature the bass line in my new YouTube series, 'Bass Lines That Changed Music Forever.' This bass line has everything in it: 🎸countermelodies 🎸dynamics 🎸substitution chords 🎸chord tones 🎸slides and vibrato The 'Something' bass line really enhances George Harrison's composition and is an integral part of the song, elevating bass into the limelight. You can get a free copy of my note-for-note transcription - link in the video description.
  3. Last Resort - Papa Roach
  4. Feedback from the sound engineer from last nights gig: “A pleasure - enjoyed myself. My vote for best numbers goes to the Floyd one, and Sledgehammer. That octaver effect on Warren's bass was spectacular! 🙂 Mike” I’m using it again tonight in a different band on red preset 2 for You’re The One For Me by D-Train. Absolutely spot on for it.
  5. An update for those of us searching for information on the cases relating to Michael Mason. There was indeed a hearing (at Leicester Magistrates Court) on 10th September 2025. The result of that hearing was that the defendant was given unconditional bail and the case was sent to the Crown Court. That next hearing will be on 26th November 2025 at Leicester Crown Court. That's a little over four weeks away. I found this out by calling the Telephone Enquiries line, here: 0330 808 4407 (Crime customer service centre - Monday to Friday 08:30am to 5pm, Saturday 8:30am to 2pm). I found those contact details on this page https://www.find-court-tribunal.service.gov.uk/courts/leicester-magistrates-court . Before I was given the information by the clerk, I was asked to provide a case reference number (33JJ0821825 - which I picked up from when the case was current at Leicester Magistrates Court), and I also needed to confirm my relationship to the case (I was a friend of the victims of the alleged crimes). I have also made other enquiries about the case - you are welcome to DM me if you are interested (or eager, or impatient), but I expect to be able to share those further details in 20 days time.
  6. Been after a birth year Stingray for a while. Im away in Ireland till Monday so will be mulling this over. Will likely be in touch if someone else doesn't nab it! I live in Sheffield so happy to pick up too.
  7. Just bought one of peters books, great comms and quick delivery, many thanks, Tony
  8. As I've just moved to Riga, I thought I'd check out some jam nights to see if I can find some musicians to hook up with. However, it's turned out to be some of the worse musical experiences I've ever encountered, to the extent that I'd say it's been audible torture. First off, a commune style, shoes off, basement studio where those not playing an 'instrument' were handed a djembe. What a noise with no direction as far as I could see very little talent (I'm trying not to be condescending but it was awful). I think it actually might have been a recruitment drive for the Hare Krishna movement (they have a big presence here). Nice people tho. Then there was a bar which had local musicians hosting a jam night, but nobody seemed to know what to play so it was just noodling. Another bar, this time a bunch of teenagers who sounded like they'd just picked up their instruments with someone on 'vocals' doing a trumpet impression. So, off to the jazz club and they host a jam night and the local jazz musicians are v talented.... so talented in fact that it instantly turned into free jazz nonsense and I had to leave (don't get me wrong, I love jazz but free jazz is a mess that only those playing get anything from it). It seems like there's either no prep or the musicians just don't know what to play. I mean, how difficult can it be to be musical over ii V I or I V IV! Once I do find some blues musicians I'll try and redress the balance by having regular jam nights based on blues and jazz standards (bring your fake book type stuff). In the meantime where are you @nilorius?! Our resident Riga bass player needs to introduce me to some musicians..... please! An excerpt from the Krishna recruitment evening. 9. Probably late 60's now I think about it and it was Ambersil Groom - to my surprise still available! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ambersil-7003A-500ml-Upholstery-Cleaner/dp/B0032I2SMK?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
  10. Yamaha quality is very good and there will have been Yamaha QA requirements in the specification for the manufacturer. I've never owned a Made in China Yamaha but this is one of the more highly regarded brands for quality. I guess there are good photos of it? They won't tell us everything but we could have a look, there are some eagle-eyed techy folk on here who can determine a lot from a few photos.
  11. I also have this: and this: If you add the DMC Micro, you can use the Mosky switch for buttons 4 and 5 to assign them to effects or effects + tuner/mute, then use the DMC to scroll through presets or switch from Preset mode to Snapshot, for example. I think that this is how this was set up. So, I can do £545 for a bundled deal? Thanks!
  12. Well, it's started. This inevitable urge to simply go back to passive basses. I suppose getting handy with the soldering iron over the last few months on other basses, I've decided to start putting the basses that have had retro-fitted active electrons installed, back to passive. I'm just sick of batteries, and the disparity from bass to bass. Obviously the Spector is the only one that came with the preamp installed as stock, so that will be unaltered. Bliss.
  13. Pricedrop to £1390/1590€
  14. I am selling my DMC Micro Pro; I'm not sure what generation this is. I picked it up on this forum at some point when I had my C4. The C4 is long gone now, and it's set up to be used with a Line6 HX Stomp, but the Stomp is on the chopping block as well, so this is going. Pair this up with my HX Stomp: and Pedaltrain NANO: for a great little setup! Excellent condition, but I don't have the original box. I have a USB cable for C4 (I think —I can't remember) and an EBS Slim MIDI cable for HX Stomp. Free postage in the UK. Thanks!
  15. Selling my Pedaltrain NANO in very good condition. I have removed the old Velcro but left some of the cable management on the bottom. They can be removed, of course. I have also added plastic feet to make this a bit more slanted and have more clearance for a power supply below; they are removable. The bag is in excellent condition. Free postage in the UK. BTW, it's a great addition for my HX Stomp to make a nice little rig 😀:

  17. Today
  18. Hi all! After a long internal dialogue, I have decided that my HX Stomp and I need to part ways. We have been on the long journey together, but if I am being brutally honest with myself, it's overkill for my current needs, and I use my analogue effects more. I also have the HX Native, so I use the digital version for reamps, effects and so on. If I were playing in a function/cover band or playing in bands where I could use my effects, I still think it's a brilliant tool. But in my 2 indie rock bands, I only use a few distortion pedals and that's really it. I might pick this up again in the future for studio use, but for now, it's not getting the playing time it deserves. The unit is in excellent condition; there are some micro scratches, but it's been mainly used at home. The stock PSU works perfectly, but I would recommend a Cioks/Truetone or any decent isolated supply instead. I will also include the infamous Mosky switch for external buttons 4 and 5. The TRS cable is also included. Now here is where things get a bit more interesting. Because I am a bit of a tinkerer and have had the unit for a few years, I have bought accumulated many 3rd-party presets and IRs that I will include. Here is what I have: Presets: Ian Martin Allison - Classic Amp Pack Robin Mullarkey - 10 pack presets David Curran - Most of his presets, if not all of them A pack from https://guitarforhisglory.com/product/helix-and-hx-stomp-bass-pack-5-presets/ Tanner Erickson Rig V2: https://www.tonefactor.co/product-page/tanner-erickson-signature-bass-rig-v2-hx-stomp And some others, but honestly, I can’t remember where I bought/downloaded them. Some of these presets, like Mullarkey's, are quite experimental. Some, like David Curran's presets, are more straightforward tools for performing and recording. As always, you will need to tweak the presets to your liking, but a lot of them sound great out of the box. IRs: Shifline Olympic IR pack Darkglass ADAM Artist Cabs David Curran Presets include IRs; they are Celestion 4x10 and 1x15. These are my favourite ones. Some of the other included presets include IRs as well. I also have full Celestion 4x10 and 1x15 packs; I can share them as well if you are interested. I understand the price is slightly higher than these usually sell for, but I feel that presets have a lot of value as well and probably cost around £200-250. I know presets aren't everyone's thing, but most of these are decent starting points, especially if you want to experiment with digital amp modellers. Regarding the delivery, I can reset the unit to the factory settings and restore all factory presets. Then I can share a Dropbox folder with all the 3rd-party stuff for you to download. The price includes free insured postage in the UK. Or you can pick this up if you are local, I am in West London. Thanks for looking!
  19. In the 70's when I worked for VOX we had big white aerosol cans of 'Foam Cleaner', still got some somewhere 😉 right good stuff 👍
  20. I’m a moderate fan overall, but I really like it when they step down the pace a bit, like this track.
  21. Matchsticks and PVA... Cocktail sticks are very hard and mire likely to cause a drill bit to snap or move if you catch the edge. As you gave mentioned, the thread bush attaches the machine head to the headstock, the 2 screws stop it from rotating.
  22. Has it gone yet? All the best
