  2. Thanks very much. There's only 0.055" difference between by "slim" and "Clubby" Jazz neck but it's surprising how much difference that makes to teh way they feel!
  3. Sold my Pedaltrain board to Kev, fantastic asset to the forum. Thanks again.
  4. Band Practice is for the Band to Practice
  5. Bought Paddy's Aguilar Filter Twin, brilliant throughout, highly recommended.
  6. This may have been tried before but the two parts of the P pickup make a humbucker. Have you tried rotating one piece through 180 degrees?
  7. That's a uesful tip - I didn't know special options were available and I am more drawn to the Stingray body than I am the Sterling.
  8. I have to say my Stingray has a very comfiortable neck and it is very enjoyable to play - but I always end up wishing it was just that touch narrower. I'll check out Bass Gallery and Bass Bross - thanks for the pointer.
  9. I hate changing my strings and have consequently had the same ones on both my basses for about two years. I dislike the zingy bright sound new strings give and am wondering if I should just go to flatwounds? Any advice?
  10. Please view this ad: Proamplifier bass guitar speaker cabinet Price:£10 https://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/proamplifier-bass-guitar-speaker-cabinet/1486151750??utm_source=unknown&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_ios&utm_medium=Social as long as it works it’s good enough for me
  11. Hi, I'll take the neck for a tenner! Got too many basses... Gotta sneak bits by the wife as parts. I'll tell her its for DIY, 😉
  12. Yes the Barefaced 12s range are very clear & flat sounding, the 10s being more vintage and having a thicker sound. The low mids on your amp are at 380, whereas to me for what your describing I’d be looking at adding anywhere from 100 to 250 so maybe add in a cheap graphic eq to see if you can achieve what you want, should give an idea of where to move forwards.
  13. Yeah not fun at all, just as you get your brain sorted as to really knowing yourself and your life bits start stopping working or falling off, bah 😠

  16. The P is a humbucker, you shouldn't be getting a big level of noise at all. Wire the pickup straight to the jack. See if there's still buzz. If it's clean, add in each pot at a time. Questions: is the new shielding connected to ground? Do you have dimmer switch lighting? Have the terminals of the pickups had the solder touched up?
  17. Yes, the body wood is ash. The strings on this bass are the Marcus Miller Dunlop Super Brights. Regular gauge. The weight is 4kg
  18. Sorry, not read the whole thread but most of the gigs I do are deps. In short, you turn up with an ireal book and make music by having a collective insight into what you are there to achieve. It's done by a knowledge of tunes, obviously, but also of idioms, certain groove types, predictable figures, instinct, nods, winks, eye contact, chord charts, dots and little bit of luck and fairy magic. You won't be able to busk Bohemian Rhapsody but there are a million songs that you can put together at the drop of a hat. I remember one gig with a singer a drummer I had never met and a guitar player I worked with often. Before the first note, our chats revealed that I didn't know a single tune they were going to do. As we approached the stage, I was listening to the first tune on my phone, much to the singer and drummer's alarm. We knocked it out of the park and it was one of the best gigs they had ever done. It's a mix of knowledge, competence and intuition. I have done hundreds of gigs like this (it has got to the point where a single rehearsal is actually inhibiting). It doesn't always work (but it is usually 'good enough' but, when it works, it can inspiring.
  19. Bass Direct requested I use my own Luthier and had EBMM send the replacement part directly to me. I will of course request reimbursement of costs….
  20. Origin Effects DCX Bass Excellent condition, with box and paperwork. £190 + £10 postage via special delivery.
  21. I thought I’d be older and wiser, I feel slightly short-changed but then 1 out of 2 isn’t bad.
  22. Wonder if the BOD sensitivity is the same issue as with their initial VBO run - really chattery. They fixed it by adding a resistor at the input somewhere.
  23. Today
  24. I have just bought an Original Effects pedal from Dave, it arrived very quickly and was well wrapped. Top guy. Thanks Dave!
  25. I’ve owned a couple of these and they are bloody decent basses, top quality all rounder. I’d have it if I wasn’t in the process of selling a bass. Good luck
  26. Hello again mate,I remember you from a different thread. I'm still convinced these are 34" you know 🙂 Are the bridge saddles on your one further forward a bit? Hey of course it's not a big deal either way, great basses those early slapcut models, enjoy it 😁
