  1. Past hour
  2. For one band I'm in I've given up practicing to the originals... better to rely on my wits.
  3. Spectre - Radiohead
  4. Hi there, Thanks for your messages, Nick's memorial gig was phenomenal, grateful for Grainger guitars and all there support for our family. The weather held out and the everyone rocked there hardest for our big bro 💚🤟🎸 I dropped a couple of notes but managed to get to the end of my song!
  5. Hi, I've seen only a Supernatural in my life... And only recently have I been able to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning an Alembic... So it's quite hard here in Italy to have them side by side
  6. Three old (possibly collectable) books The Ivor Mariants bass guitar method Bass guitar, Shirley Douglas & Chas McDevitt Electric Ladyland song book. £10 for a heap of nostalgia. £12 if posted to UK mainland.

  7. Seconded. I loved my Hohner B2A, it was a full longscale bass but supercompact and easy to carry around. The ergonomics of having the upper strap button behind the 21st fret were a bit weird, but that's easily resolved with a simple mod. Only sold it because I had too many 4-strings and could use the money towards a new car or I would still have it. The Spirit version should be available used within your budget.
  8. Laney RBH800, 300 watt, bought as a beater to leave at a rehearsal space, now surplus to requirements. Works perfectly. Collection or meet up reasonable distance from Norfolk/Suffolk border.

  9. Snap this one up, they're £379 new. 29" scale. I've played mine in a metal band, so yes they are good for metal 😆 https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/snap-dragon-e-bass/
  10. Ghost Of A Chance - Rush
  11. I have a U4 IEM (not using it at the moment as I am using the Lekato setup), and no they don't switch off, which is exactly how I would want it, I don't want something that decides it is going to switch off at any point, it has switched. Of course the only issue on the U4 is the switches are easy to knock on, although that isn't a problem if they are in in the official case (which I got shortly before I stopped using them!)
  12. Be interested how you get on, it is on my list of things to probably end up with for my small pedalboard! Would probably be good if I use a midi switcher to select the patches.
  13. Lovely bass! Was the control plate replaced? I thought control plate and bridge (and tuners) should have the same "colour"?
  14. Spirit In The Sky - Norman Greenbaum
  15. while I wait for the midi pedal, ive brought a Valeton GP-5. Totally different pedals but I want to give it a try as well. At least I know the midi pedal will work with either.
  16. Again, from the band side... We were a pub covers band and occasionally used deps (drums guitar or sax). We would claim, "Don't worry, we play like the record." Except we didn't always. Some we had changed keys for the vocals, others had slight modifications to the arrangements (four times the starting riff instead of the three on the record etc etc). Once a song has been in your setlist for a while its easy to forget any modifications you have made... Most of the deps handled it all very well.
  17. Brilliant, I’d forgotton what it actually said in forward motion 😄
  18. Back up for sale because of non paying eBay buyer. Fantastic clean and transparent valve Di from Sonic Farm. Has Bass and Treble subtle tone controls for added warmth and sparkle. Can output microphone, line and instrument level at the same time for multi system hook up. Comes with hard case and upgraded vintage Japanese Valve. Original valve and unused UK mains cable included. For context this unit replaced a Noble preamp that sounded muddy and congested by comparison. New cost with case and valve is over £900. Also on eBay if you require international postage. Price is £479 including UK postage handled by UPS.
  19. Established Notts/Derbys-based covers band looking for an exceptional drummer who can play a mix of rock, pop, R&B, disco and Motown. Band play through a digital mixer/line array PA, use IEMs/headphones & a good electronic drum kit. If you don’t already own one, we have one you can use! Diverse songbook with material from Supertramp, Pink Floyd and Bruce Springsteen through to Sophie Ellis Bextor, Earth Wind & Fire and Diana Ross. Rehearsals in our own space NW Nottingham and gig around the Notts/Derbys area. Typically 2 gigs a month in pubs and clubs (with the odd bigger event) and currently 20 booked over the 12 months. We play New Years Eve so needs to be someone who's up for that. Interested? Please DM...

  21. Just stand in front of the port. Your trousers would flap nicely.
  22. Short version. Long drive. Double booked. Agreed to be paid of for reduced fee. Then sorted that other band would do one long set then we do two sets for original fee. Landlord getting increasingly 'tired and emotional'. Luckily the band organiser was sober. Landlord decided that as the other band only played half set, wouldn't pay them. They got half fee in the end but we gave them a bit of ours in solidarity. So we went on at 6:45 instead of 5. Crowd were great, several musos present who gave us some reasonably convincing praise. Our setlist which continually evolves works great in the valleys. First half is all pretty heavy classic rock, second half also includes a few crowd pleasers and a 'Welsh Bit'. Anyway landlord disappeared but landlady gave us the full fee and apologised. They want us back (not surprising as normally it would go dead after the band finishes at 7 and we kept it busy until 9) . We were told this had never happened before. Two of our band are in other bands booked there so they checked their bookings. One was double booked and the other was booked in on the wrong date. Apparently we were down for 30 November... this morning I got messages saying 30th November no good can we do the friday. Then actually can we do another date instead. As you might imagine some of us are 'unkeen' about returning.
  23. I have recently bought a Monaco, which is being used for rehearsals and weekly gigs. So far used in smallish Pubs, Largish Pubs, Wedding venues, and 2 Festivals. Used with with an Ashdown ABM 600 and a new Trace Elliot TE1200 with varying amounts of PA support. I still have my Barefaced SuperTwin. Once I get my head round the use with the Trace Elliot, I'll write a proper review. Key findings to date; Played on its own, (without the band) the Monaco has a better tone than any cab I've had previously. (Ashdown, Vanderkley, Mesa Subway, 12's and 15's and Barefaced). It's even across the frequencies, rich and natural. Smooth, I guess, but remarkably clear and articulate. (going to have to work on my technique!!). It doesn't have the "trouser flapping" bass of the Barefaced, which is a benefit, as most of the venues I play are prone to boominess!! I can hear what I'm doing and so can the band, even when the bass isn't really loud enough for the audience. This is quite difficult as it's so different to feeling the bass but with little clarity about the notes I'm playing. Just a case of learning the new order! The Monaco is (unsurprisingly) quieter than the SuperTwin for the same amp settings. (8 vs 4 Ohm and one 12inch speaker vs 2). Because I don't like driving my amps too hard (8 vs 4 Ohm) I bought the Trace which fits better, size ways, and should have more than enough power to drive the Monaco to the volumes I need. Playing live whilst trying to do the sound for my (LOUD) band AND trying to get the bass stage-volume/EQ, the PA bass volume/EQ, and the Monitor volume/EQ "right" is "challenging". Since the Monaco arrived I have not used my Barefaced ONCE! (yet .....).
  24. Selling my Bass Station 2. A great unit to start your synth keybass journey.
