  2. My Sire P7-5 was very nice straight out of the box. Nice B string, sounds like a P, didn't break the bank. Even the tort scratch plate looks good. However I'm leaning slightly more towards my Sterling Sub5 now that I've fitted a Retrovibe Stinger preamp. It's a bit lighter with closer string spacing and again very affordable. I do gig both of them though.
  3. I've just found a Stentor 1/2 size but don't know much about sizes and how it compares to a 5/8.
  4. I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.

Walking is easiest to start from the basics like what notes are in a chord. Diminished, minor, major, 6, 7, maj7. A good addition is to understand sus4, half diminished, as well as ±5. Learn in this order: 1) two beat 2) four beat 3) walking up and down, both up to 2 octaves, and in as small area as possible (like staying in half position) While walking when you see a maj7, play a 6 instead of maj7, or use it sparingly. It has a distinctive tone. These were the basics that my bass teacher taught me years back. (I am still pretty bad.) I had a few books like Modern walking bass technique by Mike Richmond that had better rhythmic ideas than simple quarter notes. I suppose any walking bass book can open your ears to better rhythmic approach: pauses can be as effective as notes at the right places. (I still have lots of issues, especially with rhythms.) And last but definitely not least: listen. NHØP, Brian Bromberg, Marc Johnson. They seem to play only the right notes in right places. Incredible playing.
  6. Thanks Tom. 👍 I can’t fault it - TBH, it’s more than I need as we always DI. Hence, I’ll got for a little combo as a backup. This needs to be cranked up and used! 😀
  7. As the title says Have a 5 string 35" yamaha rbx775 and love it to death. Wouldn't mind more low B clarity though and haven't won lotto recently so a 37 " Ding is off the table. Any experience and tips for better low B clarity? 130 gauge B? Raise action? Raise pickups? EQ accordingly etc? What strings do you guys recommend for nice even tension? Thanks in advance Michael
  8. Could really do with moving this on as my half pay kicks in next week!
  9. Wow. I regularly see some of the bedroom dealers in Bristol pickup Facebook bargains cheaply and sell them in the same marketplace sometimes hours after buying them. It's really classless and a pretty awful business model. But I sometimes write for the *** newspaper, so I don't have a leg to stand on.
  10. Unfortunately, yes.
  11. Bought a strap, it was despatched quickly, packed suitably, and as described - one happy customer.

  13. DG have responded on TB that the engineer is perhaps mistaken as they are still investigating the issue: We’re still investigating the issue. The message Chris shared was a response from one of our engineers, forwarded in good faith. Yet this is not a final verdict. Anagram is thought to be a community-driven platform, which means we listen rather than set and forget.
  14. *Checks map* ... Yep, Bedfordshire is still a long old way from Plymouth. ... *Sad face*
  15. Selling my SVT-CL, glorious sounding amp but I haven't needed to use it much over the past year. All works flawlessly and come with a cover (has a lot of marks on it) This has a few knock marks which I've tried to show in the pictures but nothing that affects performance. it is nearly 20 years old. This is a US Built one and the serial number puts it at Feb 2007 which would make it one of the last ones built in the US before manufacturing moved. Collection only as this is a heavy bit of iron with valves! Collection from Sandy, Bedfordshire. £850

  16. I have one of these - nice bass and cost me a fortune to get it imported from Japan! Can't believe it hasn't gone yet. Shame I already have one coz I am right around the corner in Archway
  17. Cinderford is where i grew up. Best of luck to the new venture. Looks like a great place.
  18. You won’t find a better playing 5-string than this at that price, incredibly well made basses. If I didn’t have one already I’d be buying this one. 👍
  19. Thanks for this @MrFingers! That’s super helpful. I’ll have a look under the pickups over the next couple of days and let you know what’s under there. The scratch plate is definitely very recent.
  20. Big change of pace for this one
  21. Hi all My producer friend has overseen the design and build of this new project. https://studio250.co.uk Having played for the test flight session I can assure you it’s fantastic, if anyone in the area or indeed further afield is looking for somewhere for a recording project I’d recommend getting in touch, I believe rates will be very reasonable to begin with.

  23. Many apologies for the late reply, taken a break from social media. Basically like a good Jazz, with the option of having a very passable stingray tone as you move towards the bridge. The roasted maple neck is less spanky than traditional maple necks I’ve had and feels great, although I’m waiting for an opportunity in the gig diary to move the strings on to Elixiers. It’s odd not having reductive EQ, you can only boost and the lack of tone control might bother some- I’ve never found rolling tone off works for me however. Build quality is excellent. I was delighted with the set up straight out the box and will leave it like it is for as long as possible. The neck has some nice graining and overall I’m quite taken with the looks and the weight, which makes my old sire v7 fiver feel like a boat anchor.
