  1. Past hour
  2. Roughly 15 years ago I was in a band that did all that stuff - the guitarist we had was previously in one of the big military bands and she could sight read like nobody I've ever met before or since. Unless it was Guthrie level she'd just look at the page and it would be perfect first time, and she'd only need 2 or 3 run throughs to memorise it. She was scary!
  3. I Want It All - Queen
  4. For anyone interested, I've just fixed my RH450 and I have some leftover (brand new) rotary encoders and knobs for sale on the accessories board. For those wanting to do it, replacing the encoders was completely successful but does require desoldering and resoldering.
  5. I've got: 5 x Alps Alpine EC12E2420803 rotary encoders (TC Electronic Part number 7E34002911) 6 x Davies Molding 1106WA knobs (interference fit) These are all brand new. (I had to overbuy to fix my own RH450 hence the leftovers!) £3 each for the encoders (plus postage) £1.50 each for the knobs (plus postage) Happy to do a deal for the whole lot. Alex
  6. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  7. Just ordered one of these from AliDistress: to give it a whirl with Fender Studio and anything else that takes my fancy. £14 (prices may go up as well as down).
  8. For sale new sealed 4 string set of Daddario half wounds enr70 long scale 40-95 semi flatwound strings
  9. Genuine Ebmm scratchplate in black pearl from an early 2000s USA sterling 4h. good used condition
  10. You’re welcome😗
  11. @Chienmortbb @Pow_22 Thanks for the information. With all the talk of valve tone and the thump of class A/B power amps and the heft - there, I said it 😱 - that you get from old school amp designs like this, coupled with what I think is pretty much a give away price, I'm surprised this is still hanging around. Someone somewhere mentioned that this series of amps wasn't particularly desirable but given that they doesn't suffer from the wooly sound some folks complain of with Ashdown amps I think they're an underrated gem. But as I gig almost exclusively on IEMs these days and have a light weight amp and cab for the occasional dep gig with backline, this is sadly in the way and needs to go to a new loving home.
  12. Most of our gigs are play now, pay later - the drummer and I both act as "treasurers" in that some of the gigs he does the online thing and others I do invoices for and collect the money, then we just redistribute it as a straight 4-way split. Generally works OK although occasionally we have to chase up payments.
  13. I find short replies like this sometimes put me off buying from people, if they don’t know anything about the bass then they only have to say so, I understand they might have had some timewasters but we’re talking about parting with nearly £3,500 in cash
  14. No idea. I just checked. Works normally, works ok even with VPN. Clearing the cache?
  15. Come up further north! There’s a pub I regularly play at that’s strictly cash-only. To be fair, they have had free-of-charge ATM installed on the wall outside. So no one needs to die of thirst . On a serious note, it does make it harder for pub managers to ‘skim’ the fee they claim they’ve paid for entertainment. That definitely happened in Ripley a few years ago and the perpetrator got the sack.
  16. Tried this, didn't work. 😬 Now paying for lessons - on the basis that if I don't then practice what I'm told I will be p*ssing money away as well as time. Let's see how it goes by Christmas....
  17. Morning Bass Bashers! Hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to this year's event. I know this is a bit random but is anyone heading for California any time soon? I bought an Aguilar pickup set online from Sweetwater (not available in UK/EU in the foreseeable future) and had it delivered to a friend of my daughter in Ventura CA 93003. The plan was that she would send it over to me, which seemed like a good idea at the time. Now we've discovered that shipping will cost over £100!! Ping me a PM if you can help. Thanks, Mike
  18. Strange one at church last night. New songs,I'm fighting off a cold, the IEMs were playing up and the sound engineer was relying on me to sort them out, and so the band couldn't always hear themselves. Fab drummer though, so all I did was play a rhythm with roots and thirds while squinting at the chord chart and try to hear myself from the FOH. Finished up one of the most groovy rehearsals we've ever had! 😃
  19. My board which is “always on” (apart from the tuner mute!) and I DI into our desk and use IEMs.
  20. Yes, there arn’t many compatible things where you get paid ‘after’ you’ve done whatever you’ve been paid to do. The band that played my lads wedding got paid before hand. All the power is with the big brewers though. And with pubs closing at the rate they do round my way you’ve got a high chance it will be a different publican 10 days after a gig! 😂
  21. Well, think of it as freelance work with a company. With that you invoice your client and they pay either within 30 days of receipt or at the end of the month. (Obviously that doesn't apply to your plumber or decorator fixing stuff in your home - you usually have to pay immediately - but I bet it does apply when those same tradesmen work for a company.) The alternative is to be paid cash for the gig but risk being stiffed for part of your fee with some stupid excuse (not enough people in the pub, etc.) or be asked to commit fraud by signing a receipt for a higher amount than agreed so the landlord can pocket the difference. So there are two reasons why this is happening - accountability and, as you mention, the slow death of cash. You almost need a mortgage to buy a round these days, you have to use plastic... As long as you keep track of the band's finances, the system should work. 👍
  22. Indeed! Before I bought mine I didn’t believe it would sound as good as it does and hooked up with an old band mate to try his before I ordered. No, the band leader hasn’t heard it yet but I’ll take it to the next service we do 😈
  23. Everything - Stereo MCs
  24. That’ll be my evening playing Cure songs and then it’ll never get sold 🙄
  25. Mainly as the doubling, so maybe lightly into flange territory. I’m thinking I’m probably going to sell it and try the El Capistan or the Chroma Console. But I’ve never heard a modulation pedal as capable as the subtle doubling/thickening this does. Almost a faux stereo space, just adds a bit of air. The subtly would be wholly lost live but this board is all about subtle variations on a theme to keep playing along to tracks interesting.
