[/quote] Clarky's got a beautiful Nash Jazz that I played in Bass Direct. Personally, I love them - I love the look, I love the way they play, and I love the way they sound. I think you'll find divided opinions on the whole 'relic' topic though! For info, the last time I spoke to Mark @ Bass Direct, he was getting 4 Nash P basses into stock... I have Clarky/Cairobill's red JB63 with DiMarzio Ultrajazz in it and it's one of the best basses I've ever played. The necks, beware, are medium C and certainly not vinatge Jazz so be prepared for that. As to the P/T-basses, I can't comment. And although I've just bought a Fender Jazz CS, I'd certainly give the RW a go, but ethey seem to be creeping up in price. Try one then try the NAsh and take it from there. Cairobill Posted August 6, 2010 Share Posted August 6, 2010 I think Stacker has it on the nose. The Nash bass has an enormous sound. Very thick and meaty, loads of sustain, harmonic colour etc It is one of the best sounding jazzes I have ever owned. The neck was a bit chunky for me though. However, that probably contributes to the almighty tone. They are a serious alternative if you are thinking of going the Custom Shop route. Geddy Lee appears to be playing a Nash early on in a dressing room scene. The top of the headstock has the nash sharpie date on it and no decal. My thinking would be would it retain that sort of value, but that applies to so many things musical, anyway. IMV, there is no way round this but to try it and see how it fits.. Most "lively" bass I've ever had, don't know if that's because of nitro or some special wood treatment, but it works perfectly. Playability is is superb.. It is worth every penny. Stacker Posted May 26, 2012 Share Posted May 26, 2012 The two Nashes I owned had the best sustain of any Jazz I've had, bar the Blade.
