One of the most unorganized auditions I've ever been to, and as they line us all up to go in and play in front of each other, this woman tells us that they already heard a bunch of players yesterday so today is just a courtesy for them to listen to us. But chances are, we won't be getting the gig. Great. So we each literally played about 20 seconds, and then they thanked us and asked us to leave. The judges hardly even acknowledged any of us let alone listened to us. Obviously no one got the callback. I was one of the younger, but experienced guys there like they asked for, but there was a good blend of amateurs who couldn't play at all and NYC session vets with their Foderas and Sadowskys. Yet, nobody got the gig. It was clear that they were going for a very specific "look", but it was a little rude the way they treated us. I mean, I wasn't expecting them to roll out any kind of red carpet for me, but I DID wake up at 6 in the morning to get there by 9 and then sat around till 12:30 to be told they're going to listen to me as a COURTESY! Lady Gaga world tour auditions: FAIL. But good luck to whoever got the gig. Considering the auditions were for all instruments-and this week-,it seems that the whole band has been booked for a couple of months already. Was there any point in any auditions if they'd already decided on the line up? Pretty much a complete waste of everybody's time IMHO. I've been to auditions that have been a similarly stitched-up, and it sucks, especially when you don't get gigs because of the way you look... I think that goes a long way to destroying any opinions that she's void of talent. Back on topic, bit sh*tty to go through the auditions if like stated on TB, the players were all pre-chosen, but I doubt the actual gig is a miming gig, doesn't seem right for the whole Ga Ga vibe really. Easy as hell basslines, nice tour schedule, pick of any endorsements you want, playing to big amounts of people, comfortable touring facilities...and I get to play the whole gig looking at her from behind :brow: . And I'm young enough for it not to be creepy. Score! Same goes for Kelly Clarkson. Though she's quite a bit older so it wouldn't be an issue anyway. And I actually have a lot of time for her A good friend of mine did a gig for an artist supporting Beyonce, that was a mime gig. What's the issue? Those guys all work hard to get to that level in their industry, who cares if they mime a gig, they'll be playing hard bop way beyond any of us the week after!
