  1. Decided to move on this wonderful cab - bought it last year from a fellow Basschatter and it’s not been out of the house since then! It is in amazing mint condition and looks like it is brand new. Collection from Cheltenham or may be able to courier if I can find some packaging!

  4. Ping me over your address details and I'll get a postage cost sorted out for you.
  5. I owned an MTD Kingston Z fretless - https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/mtd-kingston-z5-maple-board-natural-gloss/ and had the preamp changed out for Bartolini and the pickups upgraded to Aguilar DCB D2’s. I sold the bass a while ago and still have these in my cupboard and no use for them. If anyone wants them and can use them then they can have them - all I’d like is the postage costs to be covered.
  6. I’m moving on these trusty little cabs. Really powerful and far louder than the label on the back suggests! They work really well together to make a tidy little stack. Each one has a rubber handle and metal spring loaded handle which you can also use to tilt back if you want to. One of the rubber handles is slightly damaged as the pics show. They have been mainly used in my home studio apart from a couple of gigs so are in great condition. Tonehammer head is only shown to demonstrate size and not included in sale. Would prefer to sell the pair together and collection from near Cheltenham preferred as don’t have any boxes to ship in. I do travel round the country a lot for gigs and day job so might be able to deliver.
  7. This is the latest version of the Backbeat, lets you feel what you are playing and it’s quite thumpy for its size! Has been gigged twice but not replaced my Porter & Davies so moving it on. Grab a bargain as £399 at Bass Direct for a new one. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/backbeat-g2/ I’m not sure I have the box it came in but can pack and post securely.
  8. I think the string spacing is 18mm - see pic and the weight is 9.8lbs.
  9. I’ve decided to move on this wonderful jazz bass that I had built for me in 2017 via Danny at Bass Japan Direct. Top notch bass built to an amazingly high standard which is why they are used by the likes of Jerry Barnes of Chic and Francis Hylton from Incognito - I’d say comparable to Sadowsky and better than Fender! It comes with branded gig bag, all paperwork and the cleaning cloth. As you can see from the build card it is spec’d with 70’s pick up spacing, the EQ-M preamp and 70’s wound pick ups. The only mod that I have made is to add a tone control for when the bass is in passive mode as for some reason they don’t have one when they build the basses which I think is a little odd. So controls are now, neck pick up vol, bridge pick up vol, stacked bass and treble and then passive tone control and this gives you the option for so many great tones. The bass has been gigged a lot but is in great condition as I look after my gear. I’ve tried to catch the vibe of the bass with the pics and video. IMG_2301.mov IMG_2300.mov
  10. Selling my Zoom H8 as it’s not getting the use that it really should. I bought this for using in an IEM set up rather than for its recording function although I understand that it is very good for that application too! In an IEM set up it works really well as you can use the top condenser mic to hear everything going on around you and dial that in and out as you need to. You can also adjust your own bass channel up and down and then have the rest of the band mix going into another channel that you adjust to your liking. Basically it’s a much smaller and neater set up than using your own mixer and mic for the ambient sound - quick and easy. As you can see it’s in great condition (sticker still on the screen) but does have a few marks on the back where I had to pack quickly after a festival performance. I have purchased the Bluetooth adapter (BTA-1) so that I can control it from my phone, 128GB SD card for recording if needed and also the Zoom power adapter so that I didn’t have the concern of running out of batteries in a show. Total cost for all of that as of today would be £331. I’ll also throw in the adapter for the bottom that allows you to mount it to a mic stand which I found really useful. This is a great IEM set up and was thought out and suggested to me by EBS Freak on here who many of you will know is our very own IEM guru! I wanted something that matched my ME-1 set up that I use with another band and this was really close to that.
  11. Yep, great basses and it was great to chat to you too - very pleasant couple of hours!
  12. Selling my MTD Kingston Z 5 string fretless bass. Bought brand new from Bass Direct around 2 years ago. I had them change the pickups for Aguilar DCB’s (£200 a pair) and also upgraded the pre-amp to a Bartolini HR 5.2 (£180) so it’s had some money spent on it and also a full set up by Mr Bernie Goodfellow too. The standard bass is £1,300 right now at Bass Direct. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/mtd-kingston-kz5-ebonol-fretless-natural-gloss/ I do have the original wooden topped pickups that it came with along with the original pre-amp and will of course include them in the sale. Beautiful bass, lovely to play and huge range of tones available with the upgrades. Prefer collection from Cheltenham but do travel quite a lot so meet or drop off might be possible.
  13. Been looking at the Rolls PM351 as an alternative non-digital option to my current set up, what has your experience been like with it?
  14. Just realised that I had the transmitter set to Aux rather than Line - wonder if that was the problem?
  15. Morning, I used the X-Vive U4 for the first time last night (I'm used to using the A&H ME-1) and was really surprised to hear a huge amount of background hiss and a number of 1/2 second drop outs in the connection a number of times. Wonder if this is a common issue with this piece of kit? I'm taking a FOH mix into a Zoom H8 and mixing with my own DI signal from a Radial Tonebone pedal. It wasn't great and I gave up at the start of the 2nd set which was frustrating.
  16. Thanks for the input guys, found a Dynaverb on EBay and collect tomorrow just in time for the gig tomorrow night!
  17. Had my eyes and ears opened today to how great reverb sounds on a fretless bass. We were using an EBS Dynaverb which I don’t think they make anymore sadly. I’m not massively up on reverb pedals so wonder if anyone can recommend anything similar to the Dynaverb? Prefer something small in size as my pedalboard for the gig I use the fretless on is not huge. Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.

  19. Sounds great! I play that one a lot in the Kate Bush tribute band that I’m in - http://momentsofpleasure.co.uk/index.html Cant remember last time I played the song at number 1 in the charts on a live gig!
  20. Yes, plug straight into the ME-1 but do have an extension cord as the standard one on my IEM's is not very long at all. In terms of movement I am fairly limited anyway as I use the Porter & Davies tactile monitoring board and have to be stood on it. I have found that use of IEM's without the board is not so enjoyable.
  21. I’ve been using the ME-1 for around 5 years now and can’t praise it highly enough. Amazing bit of kit that makes live gigs so much better. I have to admit that I hate doing gigs now where I can’t use it and IEM’s!
  22. Snap, it was a Ralph Rolle and Jerry Barnes masterclass which would have been awesome. I’m still undecided about going on Sunday, was supposed to be going with my 11 year old son who plays drums but it’s a long journey from Cheltenham and I’m not convinced from the bass side that it’s worth it. Luckily for me Bass Direct is only an hour from home so never an issue if I do have GAS!
