Pete Academy
This is one of the best bass parts ever - Stevie's 'Do I Do'. How good is this guy playing it?! Pete Academy
A typical example of how powerful the bass is, and how the bass IS the song.
bubinga5
Wonderfull, amazing, fantastic...My favorite of all Stevie's songs...Love the build up of the brass section in it...Lovely bass playing Pete.. Nate Watts is really flying around the FB through it.. Good call.
~tl
Great tune. Another one for the "to make a very bad attempt at learning" list...
chris_b
Great vid, nice playing. You can see the corner of his mouth wobbling when he thinks he's going to fluff a note. He's got good recovery... except at the end! Love it!

Josh
Love this song, I'm just still getting caught out with the chorus runs. This guy does a good cover as well:

lemmywinks
Gonna persuade the guys to cover this now, got them to do Sir Duke so i don't think they'll mind another Stevie tune! Is there a decent transcription anywhere? Bit of a daunting task to transcribe it myself

Having taken a large part of my adult life trying nail Sir Duke and I wish this should keep me busy for a while. Anyone got a tab?
Rowbee
Great, bubbling funk line - I love it.
thisnameistaken
There's some lovely fills in this. I remember yonks ago seeing Jamiroquai do it live and being pretty impressed at Stuart Zender's Nate Watts impression.
acidbass
This is definitely another one for the melting pot! +1 to whoever said about learning these tunes one after the other - I've only just finished with Rhythm Stick and before that, it was Sir Duke! Oh well, keep them coming, it only improves our playing at the end of the day really Danny

Marvin
Brilliant find. For someone with more enthusiasm than skill (i.e me) always good to watch something like this. Cheers.
Pete Academy
Just to digress a touch, did anyone read the interview with Nate Watts where Stevie closed the limo door on Nate's fingers just before a big show? Nate had to play the gig with his remaining fingers and nailed it, too. Priceless story...you couldn't make it up!
steve-soar
I have been more worried if Stevie had of been driving the limo.

The Funk
"Ladies and gentlemen, I have the pleasure of introducing to you - on my album - Mr Dizzy Gillespie!" I always love that bit - but Diz always seems a bit overwhelmed by the exuberance of that introduction! sshorepunk
As well as the live version, the exended version on the Musiquarium album is worth a listen, Humprhey Littleton on trumpet, Nate doing some bass noodling and some band howling! Captain Bassman
Is there a decent transcription anywhere? Bit of a daunting task to transcribe it myself
There was a partial transcription in April 2006's Bass Player mag (long time ago, I know!). I think it included the basic verse part and middle 8 but not the fancy little unison fill with the horns - best part of whole bl***dy song IMO!! Anyway if I can still find a copy I'll try and scan it...
