funkle Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Howdy all I’m travelling to Tenerife on Sunday and don’t have the luggage space to take a bass to practice on. By any chance are there any Basschatters I could borrow or rent a bass from who live in Tenerife? I won’t have a car but can hoof it about by taxi as needed. I’ll be in Playa de las Americas. Thanks all for your consideration. Pete Quote

Burns-bass Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Like everyone here says, a week or two off is good for you. Quote
funkle Posted October 11 Author Posted October 11 I appreciate the thoughts from everyone. Not to be unkind, but I don’t wish time off from bass…work already inserts that in for me. I’ll perhaps see if there’s a music store on the island I can rent from. Quote
thebrig Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I really do admire your work ethic. 👍 I've just come back from being in Spain for five-and-a-half weeks, but three weeks before I was due to go, I was offered the opportunity to join a tribute band, I spent those remaining three weeks learning the set. Before I went, I enhanced the bass in all the songs so I could hear it clearly when I was laying by the pool on my sun bed, I listened to the tracks over and over again worrying that I would have to start all over again when I got home, but I was pleasantly surprised because when I started going over them, I felt refreshed, and my playing was much more fluent, so maybe a break can do good. I'm not saying it would work for you, but it certainly did for me. 2 Quote
MyNameIsMark Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Maybe you could get a cheap & nasty Uke Bass delivered out there Quote
MyNameIsMark Posted October 11 Posted October 11 There look to be a couple of Backline Hire companies not far from your destination 1 Quote
Burns-bass Posted October 11 Posted October 11 (edited) Why don’t you buy a cheap P bass and take the neck off for transport? Edited October 11 by Burns-bass Quote

I just want to say I'm exactly like you in this regard. I HATE the thought of missing my daily practice sessions. Time away with my family in the UK I always take one. I even keep a cheap one at my wife's parent's place in Spain for when we visit. In Italy last year I Googled the local guitar stores and visited them daily just to "demo" basses. You are not alone and I hope you find a suitable solution for when you get to Tenerife. 1 Quote
gary mac Posted October 12 Posted October 12 There are plenty of bands playing the bars in that area and most of the bass players are friendly. Maybe approach one of them for advice. 1 Quote
