Another big fan of her's, here. She's a fantastic ambassador for bass.

I'd love to learn Joy Joy: what a fantastic composition. If anyone has come across a decent tab for it, please do share!

Tab (and notation) is here, but you have to download it as images.

I've managed about the first two pages...

And here something more recent. She's just so talented !

Excellent writing and playing all round.

Although, the note value probably seems to be 8, I need a calculator to work out how many of those 8th notes are in the bar and making up the metre signature...

:D

EDIT:

It looks like someone has gone to the trouble of working it out:

"For those wondering how to count it, it's a bar of 5/8(2+3), then a bar of 4/4, then another bar of 5/8(3+2 this time), and it just repeats those three bars, 5/8, 4/4, 5/8, 5/8, 4/4, 5/8.

You could call it 18/8 if you wanted to be quirky, but practically, that's how to count it..."

I will take the posters word on it...and many thanks.

:D

👍

She’s great - I especially like that cover of the Wham song.

Im also a big fan of Juliaplaysgroove, on You Tube.

I like the way they take modern pop songs and play awesome bass parts to - has actually turned me on to some of the artists covered eg Dua Lipa and Anderson Paak.

That’s actually from an earlier album, but quite right, it’s excellent. Tim Garland is a fantastic musician.

There’s a great full live set of the Feelings album here:

She wears a hat.

It's an emotive issue.

I have read here that the only bass players who wear hats are old, past it, and desperately trying in vain to look cool.

See also showing any sign of enjoying yourself while playing.
