Band sound great, decent enough mix via regular TV speakers. 36 minutes ago, Marvin said: He's seems to be seen as uncool by some, but he is brilliant live. Keith Scott, his guitarist, is pretty darn good. Agreed, just watched it. Keith Scott is a superb player, everything in the right place and tones to die for. No slouch at 71 either! Bryan was pretty good too. Didn’t drop a note as far as I could tell, his voice as strong as ever. Didn't quite understand what was going on when he swapped his Precision for guitar though? Watching on a small TV I couldn’t tell what happened to the bass - was it keys or on track? Always preferred Bryan playing guitar anyway to be honest, when he had a regular bassist. 1 Quote
alant Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I enjoyed it also and thought his voice was pretty strong for his age. Quote
steantval Posted September 7 Posted September 7 (edited) Tonight BBC2, 10.50pm, Radio 2 in the Park, Def Leppard. Update, that was really good, the guitar sounds were awesome, Joe’s vocals were a lot better than I was expecting 👍 Edited September 8 by steantval 1 Quote

Both available on iPlayer as well. I watched Flight 666 a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. The contrast between Dickinson in stage costume performing and in his pilot's uniform doing the pre-flight checks made me chuckle, as did the band playing golf. I still don't like the music, but the programme was good fun. Edited yesterday at 07:20 by Richard R Grammar Quote
Leonard Smalls Posted yesterday at 08:56 Posted yesterday at 08:56 Recently I filled in the BBC "what do you want from the BBC" survey... One of the questions was "how do you feel about the amount of music on the BBC?". I answered "want more ", obvs. They sent the results out yesterday, and I was appalled to see that 22% wanted more, 50% said it was about right and 22% wanted less! 1 Quote

What are they good for? Marketing 'bots, that's what. And they say the BBC is non commercial. Cuh! Actually that looks like a fair balance. I wonder what the remaining one percent wanted though? More coverage of polo for the horsey set? More egg blowing competitions for hipsters? A new channel called BBCs and GILFs? 1 Quote

However, I'd like to see far more music on TV, whether it's modern rnb, dad rock, Japanese Noisecore, Bebop, Baroque, Modernist, goth, street punk, metal, whatever. After all, we used to have the Tube, OGWT, Rock Goes To College, TOTP and now we have virtually nowt apart from Glasto once a year, some nostalgia docs(which have far more talking than music) and occasional pop bands on things like Jonathan Ross Show. It's pretty dire! 1 Quote

casapete Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I know it’s not popular on here, but ‘Later with Jools Holland’ has been championing plenty of music, with 65 series over the last 30+ years. It’s been viewed not only here but in much of Europe, USA, Canada and beyond too. Quote

Problem with Jools Holland is it's very eclectic, which is understandable, being about the only music show on mainstream TV, I record it and finish up watching 1 act if I'm lucky Quote
Leonard Smalls Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago 10 hours ago, casapete said: ‘Later with Jools Holland’ Indeed... And while it's often formulaic in terms of acts and Jools always has to smear his boogie on anything he can, it's a shame that this is the only live (occasionally new) music show regularly on TV (that I know of, at least). This dearth most certainly doesn't help raise interest in any grass-roots live music... 1 Quote

And sometimes we'd be rewarded with some Siouxsie, or perhaps Ruts, or at a push, Sham 69... And sometimes even 2 or 3 in a programme! Though I got far more joy from the other music progs as they were live and often Proper - there's just no replacement for these (apart from lonely old Jools); instead it's a diet of fake reality shows and appalling game shows with the incredibly annoying Michael McIntyre.
