Sound sample:

Dunlop half wounds (more thumpy, less mwah tone than flts or roundwounds) sounds are: Neck pickup tone on and off, bridge pickup tone on and off, the same in higher register and then mixes between both pickups. All passive, straight into audio interface

Good job it’s a fretless. I really like that design.

Me too, that's one of the nicest single cut designs that I've seen - elegant, coherent and avoids the bulbous bulk of some alternatives

Not normally a fan of single cuts at all - but this is lovely GLWTS

agreed.  it' suprising how many makers get the shape wrong.  After a Shuker, this is only the second example where a maker got it right IMHO.  To such an extent I didn't even notice it was a single cut until @Cuzzie pointed it out

Afterthought - on further inspection I can't figure out the headstock badge. It's curved shape almost works for me, but at the same time it seems to be a sticky outy add on?  I know this section is not the place for discussion, but as the owner (or maker?) seems to be aboard this thread, I thought I'd balance out my total admiration for the body and especially the single cut shape with a query re. headstock design.  Bin me if I done bad.

i second that...

and would also be nice to see the back of the headstock, something written there?

any chance of putting some frets in it, if you’re the maker or have contact with him/her/them?

cheers

Thanks for the input :)

yes, the logo is a wood piece.

back of the headstock has the signature, city and date.

frets are of course possible to add, but there would be an uncharge of course :)

Hahaha, it is a very old paint type, based on milk casein, and finished with natural oil. I dont think your cat would like to bite it, but, we never know hehehehe

Fantastic unique Squier VM fretless jazz with upgrades. Refinished in Graffiti Yellow, fitted with replica tort plate and genuine Fender bridge and pickup covers. Body in mint condition apart from a few minor surafce marks to bottom and side edges and one small ding on the rear top contour as shown, otherwise like new. Replaced stock neck with Mexican Fender pau ferro, mint condition and lemon oiled for a lovely finish. Previously fitted with an active preamp and still has side mounted jack if wanted to upgrade. Strung with Picato flats, nice and worn in.
Prefer local collection (somehow) as out of boxes to send (at buyer's cost). Cheers!

******£900 plus postage********   I’m selling my stunning Overwater J-Series 4 str fretless.   SPECS:   34" scale 4.4 kg Controls: Volume, Pickup blend, and 3 way Overwater Tone control (bass thick outer ring, mids top ring, then pull out top ring for top end)   It’s an incredible bass, I had custom built for me by Overwater in 2005, with translucent blue quilted maple finish and ebony fretboard.  It sounds amazing: i've rarely played any fretless that sings like  this one, without the harsh zingy sound of some cheaper brands.   I used the bass on the West End show Stephen Ward cast recording in 2013, as well on the show itself (for 5 months), but otherwise it stayed in the studio.   It does have a few dings from the 5 months I mentioned in the tiny Orchestra pit at the Aldwych (quick bass changeovers) but luckily they’re mainly on the back and sides.  (I've highlighted them in the photos.)  If you're a collector looking for a perfect instrument to hang as a decoration, the dings on the back might put you off but if you're a player looking for an exceptional, singing fretless with incredible tone/playability and a stunning finish, this will blow your mind!   Brand new to build they're about £2750-2800, i’m asking £950 plus postage.   I've included a recording of the bass, a cover of a Nick Drake tune called 'From the morning' Jaco/Joni style, a good example of the DI tone.   I'm also throwing in a soft case from Overwater (missing a small buckle on the top pocket)   J

Up for the chop is my mid 00s MIM Jazz V Deluxe 5 string.
Was originally passive but its been upgraded with an John East J retro preamp with a battery box professionally installed as well and the battery clip wires from the east extended. So no more taking the control plate off to change batteries
its kinda wine red/burgundy (photos seems to be quite accurate on the colour)
      with mirror pickguard.
there are two big knocks to it through the finish (see pics) and the pickguard has a couple of spots where the mirroring seems to have rubbed off under the perspex top layer.
Other than that it's gravy. Neck front and back are excellent, frets have very little wear on them. Tuners (Gotoh) in good nick.
oh and it could probably do with a new set of strings. The rounds on it are pretty dead.
Any questions give me a shout.
im open to partial trades and sensible offers.
I have packaging, heavy duty gigbags and boxes ATM so can ship well protected.
      cheers

My Ibanez GWB 1005 fretless with the original ebanol fingerboard is up for sale, but only because I'm mightily in need of the money. This is a beautiful, hand made (in Japan) instrument which originally cost me £3,500. A new (but B stock) one of these is currently on Reverb for over £4000.
It's only been gigged twice and has spent the rest of its life in my studio. It comes with an Ibanez Prestige hardcase and all the original parts. It is signed by Gary Willis on the back and has only one tiny ding (a few millimeters across) on the bottom of the lower horn and another tiny one just under the knobs. The volume knob recently developed a crackle but some switch cleaner sorted that out.
There is a full technical description on the Ibanez web site, the only difference being that this bass has an ebanol fingerboard not an Ebony one (as stated on the site) or Rosewood (which newer versions have). https://www.ibanez.com/eu/products/detail/gwb1005_33_04.html
I can't seem to upload the recent pictures I've taken so I've put them on my Flickr page. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmRzeo9R
Please contact me if you have any questions.
