NCD Barefaced Four10

Recommended Posts

This arrived this morning. 😁

I'm a self-confessed fan of BF gear after having several of their 2x12 models over recent years, but wanted to have something a little more old skool sounding this time around. Went for the painted finish as used on the 12" speaker models. The finish is superb and it sounds great (I certainly managed to get a few things rattling around the house earlier).

Very pleased and look forward to gigging with it when the time comes.

My, that's a tasty rig! Congrats! And of course you've now got me delving (aka gassing!) into this particular cab - 😂

Spec looks awesome - does this thing really have usable frequency range that goes down to 25Hz?! If so, I can forget about ever needing a sub-woofer!

And there's reference to either 8ohm or 2ohm, are these both available on the same model?

The spec listed on the older BF page says 25Hz - 6kHz. However the newer BF page lists it as 30Hz - 6kHz.

With regard to impedence, the only option on the page when you order is 8ohm. I'm not sure if 2ohms is still an option on request (the back plate still shows 2 and 8 with the 2 blacked out).

Great looking cab - I like the painted finish too, far easier to maintain and without any worries about glue etc! Let us know how you get on with it , cheers.

Great looking rig. Lots of power and tone in that.

I have the smaller version myself 🙂

Very nice. The head's the same as yours at least. Mine's just mounted in a 3U case with a separate TE black light beneath it to replicate the 350 etc.

Although by the weekend I'll have hopefully added to my TE family. 😉

The frequency range sounds optimistic, chaps. I have a One10 and think it’s great, but if you seriously think you’re getting significant output at 25 Hz or 30 Hz from even a Four10, I think you’re being unrealistic. That spec range is possibly the F10 for the cabinet, maybe, Alex does not say on the website.

Nor would you actually want a lot of that output at that range. It’s very messy indeed in the real world. You end up needing to HPF a lot of that out.

I would say output from 50-60Hz on up is important. The critical B string 1st harmonic is 60Hz, the critical E string 1st harmonic is 80Hz. Amplify those well (which these cabs do) and you will sound like a proper bass.

Claims of what it will or won't do in the specs are pretty irrelevant to me. I bought it because they sound great, not because of the specified frequency range. All I needed to know was that it would comfortably handle everything I would ever throw at it - and it will, plus far, far more.

The first day i got mine, I had a gig with @doomed and his band, I had my Four ten, he had the Barefaced 2 x 15 (correct me if i am wrong lad!)

Pure girth wise on the low end there wasn't much in it!, like @Deedee says, they sound phenomenal in comparison to other branded cabs.

It's a great cab, I like BF.

I'm just warning @Al Krow to be careful about how much stock he puts into manufacturers claims. Yes, even BF. A cab with significant output at 30Hz would either be huge, or suffer severely reduced efficiency in the rest of the frequency spectrum, in general, depending on number and type of drivers.

Acme B1/B2/B4 cabs, for example, do have reasonable output at 30Hz, and suffer hugely from reduced efficency as a result. I think they sound great. But you have to carry twice the amount of drivers compared to other manufacturers to get a similar volume because of that huuuge extended low end. And then often you have to HPF that low end out in real world spaces....

      For Sale only -

a Barefaced Super 12 (Gen 2) in  good condition.
No way I would be selling this if I wasn't replacing with an impending Barefaced Super Twin 2. Absolutely excellent one cab solution, never let me down on any gig from pubs to outdoor festivals. I'll be sorry to see it go.  Comes with a ROQSOLID cover. I'm willing to courier this but would need to look at cost.
PM me any questions. Can take more photos if necessary.
      Looking for £550

I bought this cab direct from Barefaced in 2013. You can find the full spec here.

I have used it paired with a Barefaced Compact (1x15), or on its own. Used alone with a decent amp (in my case, Ampeg 50W valve or Demeter 800W Class D) it is perfectly capable of filling a large hall. And it weighs only 9kg. Barefaced suggest using it with an amp in the 150W-600W range - I seem to recall the thermal maximum was around 400W. At some point it may struggle to compete with your own version Keith Moon or John Bonham, but it is still a very capable cab.

It has the more expensive (and lighter) vintage-style grille cloth and comes with a Roqsolid cover which has done a grand job of protecting it when travelling to and from gigs in my car. The cover has worn through in one spot (see photos). There is some light scuffing to the handle mounts.

Why am I selling? I now have a Barefaced Super Twin for larger gigs, and a Barefaced One 10 for smaller ones. Much as I would love to keep the Midget, I need the cupboard space, and my toy fund is running low from lack of gigging!

Yours for £329 including insured delivery to mainland UK.

Now just selling one of these.
Amazing little cabinets, that really pack a punch for the size. Only selling as I fancy a change and something a little bigger. Not that these can't keep up!
In great condition, only things to mention are a bit of Tolex peel on the back, and the cover of one of the straps has gone missing at some point. - have since found this!
      Comes with fitted cover.

Super Twelve T (black steel grill) gen 2, forbear of the Super Twin.
Bought new in 2012, and lightly gigged - mostly for practice at home.
Upgraded Super Twelve “T” model with high quality tweeter with custom built crossovers.
      Also upgraded neodymium drivers.
I absolutely love this cab, only 18kg, fits neatly in the car boot and sounds insane - sorry to part with it but haven't had much excuse to play in recent times.
      It even has wheels!
Black grill and front edges showing a bit of wear (see pictures) from a few scrapes on the road, but overall in good condition and sounding fab.
      Original spec: https://barefacedbass.com/product-range/super-twelve.htm
Collection from Portsmouth (PO4, Southsea area) - any questions just shout
